Is someone able to tell me if you still get a beta key, by pre ordering hots through the TL store. But live in canada and have to use Amazon.ca? it says you get it on the us site, but not the CA.

Is unranked match making broken? Every time I try it, I get placed against people WAY lower than my MMR. It's pretty much all bronze people.

TBH, even in ranked lately I've been getting a load of bronze silvers and golds. I was in platinum until a game vs a gold player promoted me to diamond. It must just be because there's a small player base and people aren't distributed around the leagues very well.

True. But I wasn't really talking about the literal league though. In the ranked match making, I can feel like my opponents are in the WoL diamond/masters area, but unranked it's so different--pure low league players who I can roll over just messing around. Actually now that I think about it, maybe not enough higher MMR players want to play un-ranked. I hope it gains popularity at release, and I hope they allow you to chose matchup. ^^

I've played random for a while, I don't have the greatest knowledge but I'll give it a shot.

A good way to make PVP in WOL and HOTS better is to decrease collosi shields by 50

That way they take micro to control, and it will require less AA units to directly kill them,which would also make the PVX match ups change for the better because collosi would be less strong, and would punish the protoss player for not controling them properly.


Afterall who really enjoys war of the worlds?

the MsC allows protoss to do so much more in HOTS, it opens up new doors, and thats a fantastic thing.

What openings are standard in HotS for Terran players?

Is 1 rax FE standard or does everyone go for some kind of gas opening into reapers/widow mines?

WIth reapers, because zergs still do 15 hatchery alltime, meaning speedlings will be later.

Sorry if this have been asked before. Does reapers have vision to the high ground even if they are standing on the low ground?

That's a new special ability that comes automatically for them: "Battlefield Awareness". Passive. Allows Reapers to see up cliffs and through terrain that would normally block line of sight.

Does it work over smokescreens as well?

i play random in team games and protoss in 1on1, low masters in wol and currently only platinum in hots beta

based on that limited knowledge it seems to me that pvp is the matchup that improved the most over wol

in wol i would just cheese every game in pvp to avoid mindless colossus wars (normally k4g with 9pylon 9gate and 4 offensive pylons)

now pvp is totally awesome, there are plenty of viable builds, and the MsC makes cheesing very hard if you scout it. cannon rushes or k4g get shut down by early MsC easily. the MsC also adds a lot of defenders advantage in regard to straight up 4gating, and makes expanding much easier with its photon overcharge ability

i barely see colossi anymore in pvp, going air or DT into archons is just way better, and so much more fun to play

going DT early gives you a good chance to expand off it, and when your enemy gets robo you just turn them into archons. keep making archons and chargelots and you will have a very strong ground army that can easily beat a robo/stalker player out in the open

going air is also very popular, oracles are always a menace, and phoenix opening is as strong as ever but more easily transitions into powerful air play with tempests

so all in all great improvement in the matchup. pvz is also pretty fun right now and very scout-dependand since you will have to find out if he is going muta or hydra/swarm host. pvt on the other hand hasnt changed much, toss has more options and mmm are even stronger now for terran

not only do they have vision but they can also shoot units on the high ground

Will you stop it with the lower the shields by 50 thing? I have seen you say this over and over and over and over. Nobody agrees, there is already that kind of micro with colossi.
