I have a LAN I'm going to on Sunday and we will probably adapt those rules so the other maps aren't bugged. http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/6232743757#1 "Some games appearing in the “Join Game” list of the “Custom Games” menu on the StarCraft II side of the client will cause that game to be played using an older balance. As a temporary work around please start lobbies from the “Create Game” page. UPDATE 8/2/2012: In process of applying a hotfix."

While I don't disagree that Blizzard should have done more testing of their own. They did put it up for over a month for people to test. I read the forums pretty frequently and I didn't see anybody reporting most of the bugs. Even though most of them were present on the 1.5 beta as well. So at least some of the fail falls to the community testers. Still though, Blizzard should have done more of their own testing as well.

If I'm lucky enough to get a HotS key I'll happily take it and play the hell out of it reporting any bugs I see. However if you think I'm going to test something I have no desire to test for free your sorely mistaken. ![]()

It's not the community's job to ensure that Blizzard don't fuck up their game. No blame rests on anyone's shoulders but Blizzard. Ultimately it's not a big deal though.

But the problem is that some of the bugs that were reported made it into the patch. For example, the changed balance on custom games. It was reported multiple time to Blizzard. A lot of people assumed that they were just using the old patch for the test. But then when they release the patch the balance is still messed up. And it is still messed up now. I just played in Temp0's tournament and each game I played was with the old balance. I think that the balance changes are the worst of the bugs and should be addressed first, but they haven't mentioned it at all

I am no expert but I think the problem is shader generation. Shaders are generated anew with every new version of the client. Try to follow these steps: 1. Delete the folder c:\Program Data\Blizzard Entertainment\Starcraft II. (Win 7/Vista users) 2. Start SCII and set everything on max (will ensure the most complex stuff gets rendered) 3. Find some sort of "UnitTestMap" in arcade and run it. 4. Create every unit and building of every race at least once. If you can, use every ability of every unit for every race at least once. This should (I hope) generate shaders files for those units/buildings/abilities and save them to HDD. (You should get minor client freeze every time you generate a unit for the first time, but not after that) 5. You can now revert the settings to low. 6. Play some open public games to see if this fixed the problem. It kinda fixed it for me. I no longer have laggs whenever something new appears in a match. Let me know pls if this works for you guys. Addendum: I firmly believe that the concept of this is utterly wrong. It requires the user to play games until every possible game element was rendered at least once, only then does the client become stable. The prettier the gfx, the more complex, the more problems this is going to cause in the future and for lower end users I cant imagine how this feels. Cant you programmers figure out a way pre-make the shaders files and have them streamed to the user on update? ![]() After I did this, I no longer have huge FPS drops/freezes. Still minor lag here and there, but that is only miliseconds and I can micro once more! Let me know if this works for some of you.
