While Terran get the Viking and the Seige tank, which can switch "modes", they don't really get an upgrade turning one unit into a "better" unit, and I highly doubt Protoss will either. one thing is what it looks, other is what you want it to look, just because you think that transformation is only for terran/zerg, does not mean it is out of the posibilities, because you can't deny the similarities. the phoenix has the same number of spikes as the new unit, and there is already images with phoenix being with the wings more closed. I think it is either a total substitute for the phoenix or just a transformation/upgrade of it.

I agree, that would be as absurd as terran having a 100/25 bio unit, with stim, that does 20 dmg to mechanical, slows down whatever it hits, and has a flying unit above rapidly healing it. Right? ![]()

[/QUOTE] I'm sorry, we need to nip this in the bud. According to Browder's OWN requirements, racial diversity must be maximized. That's why they moved the mobile static d to zerg, because it didn't fit protoss. That's why only Zerg has transformations. That's why only terran has transformers. We could go on.

If it's a detector, it fills my issues with Protoss: not enough incentive to build Starport, only one Detector, harassment. Viola. Lol, so no observers needed? Should every path of the tech tree have detection? Just so you can have a Protoss Banshee?

It makes perfect sense and I can go on. Two units combining to make a new unit is completely different from one unit changing into a new unit. Archon/Morph overlap is nothing compared to the overlap you suggest.

I'm just saying that there's never an incentive to not build a Robo because that's the only place you get detection, but there's almost never an incentive to get a Stargate unless you're doing some sort of Void harass. Stargates are almost never used lategame unless you're Code S control and use Phoenixes to lift a bunch of stuff in the middle of a big engagement. Protoss lacks a good air-to-ground unit, as the Void Ray is really only useful against tough ground units (Thor, Tanks, Ultras, etc) situationally, and there really is no Stargate answer to smaller units. It just seems odd to me that people just accept that the Starport, an entire branch of the Protoss arsenal, is considered useless outside of a few very specific openings or builds.

The way so much space has been left by its wings for that "energy rift" leads me to believe it has something to do with teleportation... So either the teleportation of units or as some form of weapon. Something that would be interesting would be if there was a whole new structure required to build this unit, and you have to construct the weapons AT the structure and it is then teleported through the unit when you want to attack with it. It would make it interesting in the sense that if you invested in a unit like this you wouldn't lose your entire investment if the unit is destroyed... Say you were building the "bombs" at home and you lose this bomber, you'd at least still have the bombs ready to be used by the next bomber you build. As said, just by the look and feel of the unit I don't neccessarily get the feeling of small speedy harass... This to me feels more like big, ominous and powerful.
