Hello, i`m NrSfishlips a GM zerg player and I WILL PLAY 2000 GAMES IN 1 MONTH TO SET A RECORD FOR MOST GAMES PLAYED IN 1 MONTH. I`m starting today, 1st of september. (30 days from now)
Feel free to ask any questions i'll make sure to keep everyone up to date in this thread.
Good luck, man. I'm cheering for you as a fellow zergling.
Although to be honest, I think you're at a disadvantage if someone tries to break your record. Consider that other races can take games much more quickly than you using 2rax marine scv or the likes...
GL I guess... U say ur a macro player so I did some calculations. 67 games per day, 20 mins duration per game = 22,22 hours per day (not gonna happen) 67 games per dag, avg 15 mins = 16,67 hours per day
Not sure if I should be impressed or disgusted if u make it ^^
Now let's just say an average game is around 15 minutes, that's more than 1000 minutes or around 17 hours of playing SC2 every day for a whole month.
I'm not quite sure if I agree with this idea (considering how it'd be pretty harmful for your health and all) but if you're really determined i'd just say glhf
On September 01 2011 18:52 stilez wrote: 67 games in a day? How is that possible without cheesing every game. o_O
If you play 12 hours, it is 5.5 games per hour, so you have to aim to end each game within 10 minutes assuming 5 mins of break time per hour (for toilet/food). Doable with 1 and 2 base timings....I would guess that you could go for some sort of mid-economy baneling allin off 2 bases vs Terran, Roach/Ling vs Protoss, or 2 base Hydra bust depending on circumstances, and in ZvZ I don't think you would have to worry too much... >.>
From what I understand asking to get featured is like auto you are not getting featured. Very nice idea though, but is it possible to play that many games in a month? If games are on average like 20 minutes, thats like 40000 minutes for 2000 games, and there are only 43,000 minutes in a month. Not to mention sleeping and eating :D You have got your work cut out for you.

How many are you in NrS? O_o Pretty much got the impression it was only you, ranged, response and then some random guy i saw somewhere... ur not very.. public Didn't knwo u have a prohouse also..
On September 01 2011 18:45 fishlips wrote: ps: admins please make me featured so people can see me easier
1. 2000 games in a month is 67 games per day which is 4 games per hour taking into account that you sleep a maximum of 4 hours a day. Have fun keeping that schedule.
2. Did you really just ask to get featured so people can see you easier? REALLY?
Unless your body is completely immune to tendonitis/carpal tunnel/severe fatigue, I would strongly advise against doing this to yourself. You say you're a pro playing for a pro house as well, are you prepared to if necessary take a couple of weeks or even a month off from playing to recover from this?
can you please tell me if you are really thinking this through? Especially after knowing it is 67 games per day? I think it is safe to assume that you will be having about 20 mins game (used in that equation) since there will be cheese on you and your long games will last longer than 20 mins

I might get annoyed on your third point of reasoning. Would you like to edit your post before I have to report your for racism?

Man would think you know what racism means, if you are a native English speaker. Its not this. Its just some jerk bsing some stereotypes. Romanians are not a race, race is european, black, mongolian etc.
Also, 67 games per day is impossible without rush/cheese, so you didnt think it through (or just want attention).

My avg game length the week before MLG was 12 minutes I think (didnt use 1-1-1 at all), playing 12 hours a day.

I didn't mean the third point as an offensive comment but more along the lines of "they tend to troll more so don't take this post seriously", but if it offended people on a personal level I apologize for that. I just find it annoying that too many new people just pop up out of nowhere expecting to get fame overnight by pulling ridiculous stunts like these, and asking "oh feature me so more people see me" ticks me off for some reason.

Oversky did 100 games within 24 hours during beta without cheesing. Ofc that doesn't mean he didn't get cheesed..

There's lots of cheese on ladder so he could still have plenty of short games.
my average game time over around 3000 games is 12.5 minutes. I've had periods of time when I'd do 50 games a day for 10 days. it took me around 12-13 hours a day with the breaks and wait times and all. 67 games a day is totally doable, it's just very hard.
edit: 95%+ of those games are not 1base allin plays
fishlips seems legit but if I was to decide, I'd let him play 1 week and see if he's really serious about the challenge and then I'd put him on featured list.
Either way, good luck with that you'll need all the mental strength you can get.
Really bad idea, for you and everyone else. It's a complete waste of time and it will impact your health. For the community it's totally uninteresting as well, you are simply just going to play a lot more games than anyone else which means that quality of the games are bound to get worse in the long run. If you want to do something special I am sure you can think of other ways, this one is terrible.
Did you really think this through? It will be very detrimental to your health and probably to your skill level as well. I can't see anyone improving from doing this.

Your username is SO fitting
LOL nice catch. I lol'd.
On topic... it's very bold of you but yea... if you shoot for a macro game everytime I don't think you'll make it :-P.
Counting sleeping, eating, and other stuff which you have to do, you can't really play more than max 15-16 hours a day, that means you can't have a higher average game length than about 14-15 minutes, yet you say you're a macro player. At GM level as well... you've really got a challenge ahead of you, but best of luck then
Good luck, I think 1k in a month is pretty ballzy and an attainable goal. Unless you are used to playing 12 hours a day already, there is no way you will not burn out at 16 hours a day.
On September 01 2011 22:58 ilikeLIONZ wrote: sounds like you're gonna die if you really play 67 games a day. for the sake of your own health, don't do it and get some sun instead!
2 birds in 1 stone. sleeps from 10am to 4pm while tanning.
I used to be apart of team elevengaming (xi) and we had this player named xiLith. All he cared about all day was playing ladder and getting high rank. He did all-ins in 60%+ of his games only 1-2 bases max. One day after his semester he seriously played for around 20 hours straight, I counted up his games played and it was pushing 70.
Now 2000/30 = 66~ games per day. Mind you, he was a Terran player that could win games early with scv marines plus like 4-5 racks all in. Sure zerg can 6 pool but you're saying that you're going to be playing macro games? The average zerg game compared to other 2 races has to be a few minutes higher.
I wish you luck but I don't see how its possible time wise if you are playing macroing games.
You're going to die bro. Don't do it. Just drop it to 1500. That's an even 50 games per day and even though THAT'S an insane stretch I feel its more realistic and people might want to see that.
I have seen players both on NA and KR servers that have played over 4k games with an average game time of 18 minutes over the span of all the games. So I don't think you will be breaking any records.
Best of luck in your endeavor to making it to 2k games. Definitely will help in regards of flaws in your gameplay if you have any.
A pretty clever way to get a featured stream and much attention without doing great in a tourney Probably starting a trend here as TLO did with his streaming marathon...
I wish you the best of luck my fellow zerg brother and I'm excited for the last few days when you have to 6 pool your way to victory XD
Question: How would/do you deal with losing streaks? Because there may occur huuuuuge losing streaks here ^^ Another question: How do you earn your money? Took a 1 month vacation from job, unemployed or paid by your team (does NrG pay at all?)?
This is quite crazy. Like a previous post mentioned. If you allow yourself 16 straight hours in a day with 8 hours set aside for sleep you would need to average a game every 14.4 minutes! Good luck!

Not to mention the more time set aside for eating, showering, going out, etc will just pull the average game time required below 14 minutes per game!

You need to realize that a 15 minute game in starcraft 2 isn't 15 minutes real-time. It's almost 11 (being 10:50) minutes. Those 4 minutes make all the difference ^_^;

well thats actually impossible for one month. 4k games average length 18 min? 72000 minutes?
Good luck! I'd be willing to bet "Goody" holds the record for average game length. I've always loved to watch him play, his mech style is great IMO. Unfortunately, I can never find up to date replays of him. It's always just 1 or 2, and they are usually old and obsolete.
Good luck! To make the record worth anything you should consider setting a minimum win percentage during this period - anyone can gg every game after 5 minutes and make this record.

Well if he just plays and don't analyse replays and see what he does wrong he can't improve that much. Everything just doesn´t comes down to mass games.

Of course analyzing replays is beneficial, but in many cases you already know what you did wrong, and massing games will help a lot on timings, unit control, general macro etc.
Maybe you can do it, because an average time of 15 (real) minutes a game seems relatively high. I think it is less and probably you see a chance after calculating your average time. I wish you good luck!

Theres a player right now pushing 4k (sitting at 3500+ games) and its barely been a month if not even a month since the new season.

Strategically he might not improve a lot but at least his mechanics are bound to get a lot better =)
I'd shoot for 1500 games MAX if you want any sort of quality to your games or want to show improvement from this.
I did something similar in Poker a while back, and the sheer amount of hours makes practice/quality go down drastically after about 1/2 way through the month.

If you add downtime in between games you basically end up with having to either survive on extremely small amounts of sleep or you have to cheese/all-in every game or at least most games.
if a game averages 15 minutes (this is the bare minimum average your gonna get without worker rushing/ 6 pooling) you're looking at about 17 hours per day.

Might just be stating the obvious but I dont know.
Already pointed in earlier that someone has already done 3500+ games this season which has got your 2k world record beat.
I don't think it's possible to do 67 games a day for 30 days. Only if you were 6-7 pooling, DEFINITELY not if you say you're macro player. Imagine you have 15 minutes per game, you play 2 long games and now you're 8 games behind your pace. GL nevertheless

it's impossible mate.
Why 15 minutes average per game? I really do not know where people found that number. Visting the gomtv website and lookink for the average game time when a zerg plays against every other race, you find about 13 minutes per game overall. If that is Starcraft 2 time, that means less then 10 real minutes per game real time.
It's UnPozzible!!! he needs to play atleast 66 games per day! let's his games takes an average of 10min of real world time, that would be 660 minutes or 11 hours a day. Sure it can be done but that's hardly macro games at all.

its possible. when the avg time per game is getting close just go all in the guy. as long as you stick to the routine its a done deal. especially if you are in a team house, which should compel you to keep going like a boss!

Because people don't give a F about other players unless you are Destiny, Spanishwa or other popular player.
There are ton of players who are very good and talented but people don't care about them. Same thing with Teams.
2.8 games per hour = a game must be less than 22 minutes on average.
Now... one may be able to not sleep for a day, but not for a month, not even for 2 days (don't say you can, you can't stay awake 72 hours). So lets assume a mere 6 hours every day for sleep, eating and other things one has to do. So, 18h nonstop gaming every day - which shortens the maximum avg game length possible to 16 minutes. Macro games, huh? Don't think it's gonna happen. Even if you come close to 1500 games, I'm gonna assume account sharing and/or rushing :p

Thats a false statement because if players who are very good and talented would be doing online tournaments like Zotac EU/NA cups or TL Open and be winning or taking out known players. So you sir have some flawed logic and are obviously upset about that.

I wouldn't say useless. I almost never watch my replays after I lose, but I'm in Masters. Just because you don't watch the game again, doesn't mean you don't know what you did wrong. Usually its pretty obvious where you messed up, and if he's in GM I'm sure he'll notice when he confronts in a bad spot or just has a bad macro game.
Also, you don't think just playing 2000 games won't grow some muscle memory and hand speed that will help him out? I do. Good luck to ya, OP.
I have felt a distinct lack of top zerg streaming recently, but only when I am actually available to watch. I sure hope this helps! Thanks, and good job earning yourself some publicity

Technically doable but really? SC puts a lot of strain unless you cruise through the games....and playing dozens and dozens of games when you're already batshit tired sucks on many different levels.
I still dont get why everyone think average game time is 15 minutes real time. I posted above some stats from GSL with average time less then 10 minutes per game for Zerg players...

If that's your only condition, then you can just instaquit every game about 5 seconds in. Assuming blizzard doesn't find you and ban you for doing so, and a 1 minute 55 second wait time between each game, it will take you about 4000 minutes, or ~65 hours, to perform this feat.
You won't get fetaured just by asking for it, in all likelihood; you probably need to demonstrate good skill and a solid viewer base, as well as an entertaining stream. There are several high master and GM players who are not currently featured.

Average game is liike 15 minutes real time = 16 hours a day. I played at probably a third that rate (e.g. 20-23 games a day) when I was massing games hard...this is pretty nuts...
You forgot to add: + Mandatory loading time for 67 games + Mandatory time to find opponent for 67 games + Optional breaks time + Mandatory meal time + Optionalshower time
I like how you put it as mandatory wether to go for 30 days without a shower or not :D

To be fair, he could combine eating with loading and searching time; by eating while queueing up (something that you can eat in sparse bites over the course of some time, like a cold sandwich) he could be more efficient.
set it to 1500, playing around 60 games a day probably wont give you enough time to remain adequately healthy and the fatigue etc. hurt your practice quite a bit.
I like the idea of playing for a long ass time here and there, but over a month like this you should space things out a bit, i played that much once, played about 75ish games over the course of 20 hours and it was great, but if i did that again and again consecutively itd do enough harm that the practice was far less useful than it could be if i laid off a tad.
2k is achievable but i think depending on what you want to get out of it than dropping it down would be a good idea, setting a record thats probably been broken and has not way of confirming or denying such seems a lot worse than playing 1500 games and perhaps having much beneficial experience while not being strung out for the latter half of the month.
bro this is not even healthy for your body to do.... to be sitting for that many hours... yeah its a nice feat, but i swear you are prolly taking a toll on your body and maybe years off of your life. You will be burning zero calories a day. Defiantly not healthy dude.... its not even impressive its just plain our right retarded.
at least make an hour each day for excersise, or go for a couple laps around the block or somthing dude. otherwise its not even respectfull, its friggin just plain old gross. almost like that one dude, who ate mcdonalds for entire month.

He is the one who is retarded? It's called a dictionary, perhaps you should use one since your spelling is so atrocious.
Dear OP,
You are a bold man, indeed! I wish you the best of luck in your life decision and I trust that you will come out of this next month a changed person. Whether that is for better or worse remains to be seen.
Cheers and gl! :D - Hyperion.420
P.S. I'll tune into your stream once in awhile to see how you're doing! I think it is a fun challenge to set for yourself, although it is a touch extreme! hehe
I think he's just hoping to get featured before he gives up. If he really plays macro games he will realize the futility of his plan after the first day ><. On the other hand... he didn't say he would WIN 2000 games, so if he just built drones nonstop until he got killed he could technically be playing macro games and lose 2000 quickly =P

Give it your all. i would recommend doing a couple cheese rushes here and there and finding some good timing pushes ~10 minutes when you can... just to get some short games in, yet still doing most of your bulk as macro games.
average game length must be 20-25mins MAX. 22 hours of gaming a day would get you to 1980 games in a 30 day period. So if your gonna play macro games (I consider 20mins minimum total length to be classified as a macro game) would make this very close. Of course adding about 20 or 30 1 or 2 base timing attacks would give you a much shorter timing to hit 2000.
Ugh don't do this to yourself T_T the slightly congratulations aren't worth it for that much work. And you will tire yourself out so much that you won't learn or improve much because of it.

Damn, I didn't know the Jersey Shore had moved to Canada.
On another note, I just saw some guy with 1762 wins and equal losses in master league.. how long has season 3 even been up for? Doesnt that put him at almost 4000 games in.. maybe a little over a month (bad memory )
Does anyone know who LMntStallion is? Look at his game count - 3.5k games for season 3. This doesn't seem even remotely possible even if you spend 24 hours a day practicing. Does anyone know what's up?
Edit: oops, missed the post above me - he noticed it too. What's up with this guy?

well thats actually impossible for one month. 4k games average length 18 min? 72000 minutes?
Theres a player right now pushing 4k (sitting at 3500+ games) and its barely been a month if not even a month since the new season.

If I wasn't active duty military or had kids I could push 2k+ games in a month easy just like in Brood War when I played 16 hours a day.
at an average of 18 min a game? yes that is impossible.
You need to realize that sc2 tine isn't real time. Just amazes me how people think it is. It is not impossible at all. I've played 75+ legit no all-in games on my part in one day. It is not hard to do.

It's still impossible. Playing 16 hours a day, it would take about 50 days to get 3500 games. That's without any breaks whatsoever during those 16 hours, including time spent finding a match, eating or anything else.
Edit: note that season 3 started on July 26th. That's about a month ago. After converting game minutes to real minutes, it turns out that this guy's account has been active for 33 days straight, 24 hours a day. He probably hasn't missed a minute of a day since the start of the season.

And macro games only you said, so we're assuming these games are at least about 10 minutes long... so that's at least 600 minutes per day (and you'll surely be playing plenty of 20 or 30 minute games too, but this is a super-safe underestimate). That's at least 10 hours per day, for a full month.

i just wake up. smoking some stuff and start playing soon. stream will be ready ! hf watching my games. yesterday i had some inet and electricity problemes, thats why i started so late.

Team Liquid isn't a forum where you can "troll safely". You should treat every open thread with respect. Change your attitude mate. Personally I don't believe this guy can make 2000 games. u say u will play 2000 games. Anyone can 'play' 2000. So need to be more specific, imo. I dont think there will be any clear evidence to prove u played 2000 games aside from win/loss ratio which can be fixed. (unless we look at ur replays but even then who would bother)

Why are people hating on this guy? I don't understand. Sure he may not be able to make the 2k games. But he's trying, all in the name of getting better at StarCraft. This guy should be receiving love rather than hate. I'd like to see a bunch of you guys try to grind at least 15 games a day. This guy is attempting 66 games a day. Give him some credit.

Ok I've tried to tune in 3 times since your OP, each at a different time in the day so that you should be awake for at least two of them, and you haven't been streaming. I did find on the stream chat just now that someone says you played 70 games so far, which is less than half the rate you would need to meet your goal.
I'm not trying to take a dump on you, but rather encourage you to pick it up as it would be quite inspiring for me. Also, it would be cool if you made your situation a little more transparent so people can stop speculating on if you actually have the time to commit or not. You say you are doing this from an office - do you mean you have a dayjob on top of this goal?
You either need to be playing some very short "macro" games or just not sleep for a month.
Agreed. Even though he said in the OP it was an "attempt," I don't think he will be able to come close. Coffee stops working after about 16 hours, and cocaine stops after about 28 (I believe), and then you just sleep for about three days straight without knowledge of time passing.
Is it possible without cheese? No, not at all. If he somehow pulls it off, I hope he saved the replays, because I would watch them to make sure he didn't cheat on his rules.

Maybe playing 400 in a week or something would be better a months a long time to commit to playing sc2

hi again,
for the record this is not trolling so please ... everybody just ... chill,
i have a legitimate question:
so in theory if you are not streaming then perhaps you and your friends take turns in laddering,
i mean its a definite possibility and we cannot check the validity of the games,
DMaster weren't you banned? In addition, please don't put a space after every line. It hurts my eyes. Again, I bring this up last time I did it seemed to of been disregarded. This guy said he will attempt to make 2000 games in a month, why is everyone hating on him? People should be encouraging him. Sure the line "please make me featured" makes this a whole illegitimacy to get more viewers for his stream. But if you disregard that and just give this guy a chance, perhaps he will show you that he can indeed make 2000 games. If he doesn't, that doesn't matter, I mean I bet half of you guys couldn't even make 100 legitimate games in 3 days. The fact that this guy attempts such a feat is just amazing and outstanding.
