This Dox cup was meant to build E-Sports in SEA. That was pretty much it. The cup was for developing SEA players, so we get a bigger and better scene here. Sure, it's just one cup, but it's important for a region that doesn't have much gaming infrastructure. Having a non-SEA person come in and roll people doesn't help the SEA E-Sports scene.

Since there are literally (yes.. literal, as in actual fact) hundreds of tournaments that happen everyday in every place in the world that are not closed specifically to regions, sixjaxmajor just had to pick one where he couldn't play in.
Does anybody else see how big of a douche this kid is. Not to mention, you have to be mentally handicapped if your solution was to buy some diamond kid's account as opposed to participate in one of the many tournaments that were held on the same day... for free... with cash prizes...

Also This event was specifically designed to encourage the SEA community to step up their game and embrace the global success of StarCraft 2 competitive eSports. Consider it an investment on my part. I inject money into the community, and the community produces higher quality gamers. Eventually these players will build the skills and confidence they need to represent SEA on the world stage (see: mOOnGLaDe).
That is his reasoning behind restricting it to SEA citizens only. Do you agree with it?

Yeh I think I was a bit too dickheaded in that post, I understand it was designed to promote SEA players and he outright should not have attempted to enter after he was told that it was citizens only, he screwed the tournament over effectively and I hope those who participated get another shot either in another Dox cup or another SEA league.

Yes, I believe a great thing to promote players who otherwise might not be getting the attention they deserve. I'm just a bit torn about whether the nature of tournies should be the best competitors or these kind of things which are restricted. Thinking about it there are plenty of top tier player tourneys so it seems perfectly fine that cups like this are held. Not suggesting my opinion is worth anything but I see now that cups like this are important for giving tournament practice and showcasing players who might not otherwise get much as opposed to just having the best of the best duke it out.

People have the wrong understanding of the term "discrimination". It means to distinguish between people based on characteristics that are not directly relevant. In a cup that has as goal to encourage SEA talent, the nationality of the participant is very relevant, so restricting it to SEA nationalities is everything but discrimination.
Discrimination would be if everyone of age 23 would've been prevented from participating in this cup. (for example)

I appreciate the investment but isnt there even a GO4SC2 Cup for SEA? There already is some money injection and srsly I dont think 500 once a while will make someone become a Progamer. Its a bit naive and I dont see why people from all around the world would enjoy watching only SEA citizen players. There are so many cups with so many better players all the time. The only thing this event would have done is supporting moonglade fanboys and the Australian viewers who can watch GSL at a reasonable time (besides chinese Go4SC2 or SEA Go4SC2).
So coming back to your question:
Restricting to only SEA players doesnt help a lot cause ppl want to see good players vs good players and not random dude owned by moonglade. I dont agree. But i still appreciate the effort Dox and others put into it.
