Most commercial streaming services offer 720P+. See vudu, netflix, hell even HD cable. 2) They show fucking ads. If we are paying you money already, why are you trying to make an extra buck with ads? Absurd. Korean Players > Foreigners. Need I say more. Jeeze people are cheap considering the goddamn prize pool that the GSL and now the GSTL offers.

People are making it out as if it's robbery when you're paying next to nothing for 3 months of entertainment. It's kind of ridiculous. 2 days per week is not equal to 3 months of entertainment. It is only 25 days spread to 3 months. On June 24 2011 13:45 SichuanPanda wrote: Other - 25 days of play, 25 dollars. 1 dollar per day. Old GSL was 4 days for 5 dollars. Therefore the new price on a day-per-day or game-per-game basis is actually far cheaper. With 30 team matches from 4 to 7 sets per match, gives roughly 125-250 individual games. Its about 12 cents per individual game. This is the most inaccurate but mostly used excuse I seen in this thread. Those 4 days for 5$ were a tournament by itself with finals and prizes. Now it is 25$ for just ONE tournament with just ONE finals and ONE prize for competitors. It is not the same, not even close.

GSTL May: 7 sets, $5 (w/ ads). 71 cents per set. GSTL Season 1: 30 regular + 5 playoff sets, $25. Also 71 cents per set. That'a not taking into consideration the increased prize-pool and production, as well as supporting team FXO while they live in Korea. Yes, the price is fair

And even arguing about every single aspect of that purchase and everything... you dont have to complain 20 pages about everything...its just simple as that.... How old are you? Its 25$...not 10.000!! If you buy a DVD of a series..you'll pay about the same amount if not even more.... Gosh... You are not able or to stingy to spend 25$ for a pure entertainment? Then have good luck later in your life paying senseless bills every fuckin month ....

So funny seeing people so adamant about justifying their purchase ![]() I wonder how many more seasons of GOM you'll buy before you realize you've been suckered out of hundreds of dollars. The best part about e-sports is that it's free entertainment! The minute it stops being free, it stops being worth it.

It seems expensive, but in the end it really isn't. On top of that, the GSTL has always provided the best games of any of the GomTV leagues, so it isn't hard for me to choose. If it was just a regular GSL season, I'd have a harder time swallowing the $40 price tag, but it wouldn't prevent me. I love SC2 and I want to see its e-sports side succeed and supporting the GSL is one of the best things I can do to help.

GOM is a premium Starcraft 2 content provider, much like HBO is a premium TV content provider. You pay a fee because you like the programming and think it is worth it. You don't need to worry about the price, really. They have managers and analysts who crunch the numbers, collect and mine the key metrics, and make decisions. If the price is too high, they will notice, and drop the price or create a promotion. It's simple marketing. The Free tournaments are a lot like your local TV networks and radio stations. They have quality programming, because they are likely to reach a wider audience (because it's free). The wider audience attracts advertisers and the patrons consume the ads and hopefully the products they're pushing. In the local arena the landscape is much more volatile. If the viewership drops, even a little, advertisers bail and the show no longer pulls its weight and is immediately dropped and replaced with something else. This does not occur as often on the premium networks because the subscription fees pay for the programming, to a large extent, and the viewership is more committed to the programming and because there is less turnover they know what to expect and are less likely to be disappointed. If you cannot afford HBO, or do not believe it is worth it, then you will simply watch the programs on your local networks. You may bitch about the price of HBO, but it's pointless because the price is fair and relative to its perceived worth. Seems like a silly thing to argue about, really - In my humblest of opinions, of course.
