Sweden has to be number one like a few said. Thorzain, Naniwa, Sase, and Morrow will break you.

Actually I'll just list each team and make up my mind.

Sweden - Thorzain, Naniwa, Sase, Morrow, Sjow, Haypro (Dayym!) + Lalush, Seiplo etc
Ukraine - Kas, White-ra, Dimaga, Strelok (Solid line-up)
France - Stephano, ToD, Adelscott (Not that bad tbh)
Poland - Mana, Tarson, Diestar, Nerchio (Overrated imo)
Germany - Darkforce, Goody, Socke, Hasuobs, TLO (Decent)

US - IdrA, QXC, Select, Sheth, Gatored, Illusion
Canada - Huk, Kiwikaki, Attero, Fayth, Ostojiy, TT1
China - Xigua, F91, Xiaot, Macsed, Toodming

The few I left out was Britain, they have Demuslim and a few less popular guys that I didn't think are worth to be on the list. Russia I left out because beisdes Happy and BratOK who are very good players, nobody else is really sticks out for me. Finland has some nice players, but I didn't think they deserved to be there because their players don't have major accomplishments besides Naama winning Dreamhack. Netherlands only really had Ret and Grubby, so I left them out as well. And who suggested Canada? Like lol, I'm Canadian, but come on, you have HuK, and I'm a Kiwikaki fan (look at my ID), but please, the guy focuses more on poker than starcraft and is not very good. And the other ones on the list are there because nobody else could fill those spots, and none of them have any good accomplishments. My list is as follows:

1. Korea obv
2. Sweden
3. China
4. US
5. Ukraine
6. Poland

I agree with everything you said except I would include Mexico with US and add MajOr instead of either Gatored or Illusion.
Actually I think our scene is small enough to just combine US, Canada, and all of South America.
HuK, IdrA, Select, Sheth, Major would be a pretty solid lineup.

Didn't we just have a tournament where each country was allowed to send three representatives, and then they all competed against each other? Couldn't we just add up each country's respective W/L ratio at the World Cyber Games, including initial group stages, and then determine which country deserves silver?

Given that the tournament itself went...
1- MVP
2- China
3 - Ukraine

I'd say that we might be on to something....

(Also, Canada went a collective 66% [12-6], just sayin...)

Most people would say a lineup is bigger than the best 3 players, but if thats the case WCG would be the perfect measure, its still pretty useful though.

I would rank it

1/2. Sweden & China. I suspect China is above Sweden but that's just speculation based on the few players we've seen. Sweden is pretty self explanatory though, their super lineup is even more impressive if we looked on a per capita basis.

3. Germany

4. Canada.

5. USA. But only on sheer force of numbers, the 'average' pro player in the US is worse than 5th.

6. Ukraine. Strong lineup, but its quite small.

7. Russia

8. France. Similar to US but in a smaller scale.

9. Poland

10. Finland

I guess we should add entire Scandinavia to Sweden then since our scene is so small?

Hell since you put 900 million (the population of the entire american continent) vs the 9 million of sweden we could just as well make it America vs Europe and you would still be ahead by 200 million.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

1. Sweden: Has most of the pros who can compete with Koreans regularly. Jinro, Naniwa, Thorzain, Sjow, Sase.
2. Ukraine: Its weird but they do have a high concentration of talent. Whitera, Kas, Dimaga, Strelok
3. China: Just from watching WCG and the Star Wars tournament, I'm definitely impressed. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised when they start showing up to GSL and MLG.

The next 3 picks are debatable, because they din't have much high-quality talent, but they do have a ton of low-mid level pros which other nations do not. Stephano is a one-hit-wonder for France, as is Sen for Taiwan and Ret for Netherlands.

4. Canada
5. Germany
6. United States

#1 - National Republic of WhiteRa

All the rest are inconsequential, though I'd have to give the nod to Sweden.

edit; five (?) players have participated in GSL Code-A, Jinro has advanced further than any foreigner in Code-S, and Naniwa is near the top for foreigner prize winnings. If we're going to talk about potential, this list will never evolve beyond "I Like X, he's awesome!"

Results say Sweden, ez

Is it just me, or does anyone else actually wish GOM did another Korea vs the World (aka Team USA)?

It was so fun watching those games, and at this point I'd say we're far enough along in the game to get a true Korean top 8. (anypro, san, nada, and july are not in the top 8 of best Koreans atm, and I didn't really feel they all belonged last time either)

Conversely, now that Code-A/S is easier to get into for foreigners, it's more likely that the better foreign talent would go to participate.

Assuming its a bo7 format (winners or matchup) and each country can compete with only 4 players

1/2 Sweden/Ukraine
Sweden and Ukraine would probably end up around 50/50 if they played 100 times bo7 any format

3 China
china has a ton of talent

4/5 Germany/France
Germany is better than france imo but stephano could carry them in a winners league

5/6 USA/Canada
USA is a little deeper with QXC/Select/Sheth being better than Kiwi and crew but Huk vs Idra probably goes to Huk so it depends on what format is played.

7 Poland
Just not enough depth and no major star to carry them as ace against others
There is always tomorrow nshs.seal.

How the Hell are people rating China over Sweden? No Chinese player has achieved a tournament win! Xiagua made it to WCG finals by beating Titan, F91, and snute. How is that in any way impressive? Blizzcon 2010 was the only spot where a Chinese person beat a somewhat good person, Loner beat sen, other than that he only beat huk (back when he was also losing to Artosis) and redarchon (who?).

Swedes are winning stuff right and left, Jinro won a MLG, got round of 4 in gsl twice, further than any other foreigner. The furthest a Chinese has made it in gsl is Loner to the round of 16 once. Naniwa won an MLG, won the global invitational, got second at providence second on eu bnet invite and second at TSL TO ANOTHER SWEDE! Thorzain won TSL, second at dreamhack invitational, all killed team IM, and got 4th at NASL. Haypro beat fucking Nestea for crying out loud! Morrow won IEM and got second at assembly. SaSe got 2nd at a frickin Chinese tournament, higher than the highest chinese person by 2 places, and hes owning face in another Chinese tournament. Sweden collectively has puled in over 200k of prizemoney, China is at no more than 70k.

How in the world do any results show china is better than Seeden!!!??!!?!?

I would not consider Germany in the top five, though. They have good players, but the Germans dont have the level of some other players like Thorzain, Naniwa, Huk or Idra.

I think Sweden wins hands down. I also disagree that Germany is up there. I mean, they are good and all, but have no real star lineup; no one who actually wins a lot of huge shit. I'm extremely biased but I still think that Poland is quite good at SC2!
