If the aussies had not all those lags with connecting to SEA, KR or NA servers, i would put them right up there along US/Canada/Russia, maybe better.

Yep, this exactly. Doesn't even matter what the 3rd country is, as it's leagues below these 2.

I like you sir :D but seriously and despite by obviously slight bias Australia has some very good players that don't get spotlight (Apart from mOOnGLaDe, after his efforts at various IEM's and WCG people who continue to say he is 'Bad' or 'Not even close to top tier foreigner' are kidding themselves)

Players like the xGKing boys Iaguz and Mafia, the arCMSi lads EdgE, Rossi and deth, TtPiG, GoSutgun, YoonYJ and a few others are all GM on NA + High Masters on Kor and are more than capable of holding there own against many players listed in this thread. Australia has such shithouse internet though that its hard for them to play in online events and the scene here isn't close to big enough (Yet) to have large scale LAN's very often so we get limited exposure

On the topic of China... There are at least 3 Chinese players in the top 200 of the korean ladder that I know of, and maybe a few that I don't under smurfs. Xigua is consistently top 30 GM in Korea.

There aren't many pro players in China, but the ones that are pro are definitely capable of making Code A.

For reference, Destiny is 150th on Korean ladder, Naniwa maxed out at rank 6 and is now rank ~50 due to lag with his setup, Sen is ~40, Jinro is ~50, Stephano is ~20-30 when he plays. This is definitely not be-all end-all, as ladder really doesn't show who is going to win tournaments, but is without a doubt the best gauge of average skill and consistency that we have.

Speaking of Sen, I don't understand why no one even considers Taiwan. Taiwan has a bustling scene with, Sen Hui Slam and a few others consistenly within top masters in Korea. Even luway, an amateur female gamer, placed in NA GM in season 3 with a ladder record of 70-10 or something like that. Taiwan has 5 teams in the pro circuit, with many members fully capable of surviving in Code A.

Don't forget SaSe, who peaked at rank 6(or something like that, definitely in first 10) of korean GM last season I think...

On topic:

Sweden definitely first, then Ukraine. Then USA/China/Canada pretty similarly (like, all of them third). Then probably Germany/Poland/Russia...

The fact that Deezer is top 5 for USA, says everything about TLPD

It says a lot about US-players except for idra/sheth as well.

No offense but all the players you listed are no where near top level.. by top I mean capable of getting into code A by qualifiers (I think moonglade probably can as long as he doesn't get a monster player in his group). GM on NA is pretty meaningless.

mainly it shows how flawed of a tool the TLPD ELO is, and that he decided not to count huk or select as american even though they both are now, but its ok keep bashing america, after all this is one of the few threads where you can do it and not get moderated since you're "arguing which country has the best players"

I am obviously bias, but I feel Sweden is definitely second to Korea. However I'd say the second best nation is the US. IdrA/HuK/Sheth can take games off anyone in the world.

Isn't HuK canadian?

I think he was born and raised in Florida... then moved to Canada at about 15 or 16, iirc.

so... he's canadian

Wow, stop arguing about where people are from... Select is in the US, he's been here for a few years(?), I still consider him Korean. SC Korean and your heritage are different. For SC purposes Select is from the US, as he lives and trains here. Huk himself said that he considers himself a CANADIAN so drop it. Idra is American no matter what...

Well from my understanding huk considers himself Canadian and select considers himself Korean, so that's probably a good indicator of where to put them.

Also if you're going to get angry about being speaking poorly of America's player quality you should maybe not look in the thread of each country's player quality

Did you actually read what i said....where anywhere did i say "Top level" apart from GLaDe?? I said they are pretty good and could hold there own against many players listed in this thread. I didn't say "They're top level because they are GM on NA and they could win vs other top level players" i said they are pretty good and they are only going to get better and that like the guy above me said i think for the amount of esports exposure/competitive scene Australia has had in the past we are decently represented in Sc2 and could rate with these other countries. Take out HuK from Canada for example (Which some people do, some don't) and who from there apart from KiWi could match or better mOOnGLaDe?? DDE, Slush, Drewbie, TT1, Attero i would all put behind mOOnGLaDe.

I'm gonna say China. They had a pretty good showing at WCG and the only reason they aren't getting recognition here is because they have been in so few foreign events with the exception of Loner.

USA, Sweden, Canada, Ukraine also have very strong teams.

Sweden.

Thorzain, Naniwa, SjoW, SaSe, Haypro, Jinro, Morrow, Merz and easily a few other big names that don't come to mind quickly. Gimme a break, I'm australian!
