Massive units are not affected by concussive shells. If you think they are, you are wrong.
It's SPORE crawlers that are being changed, not SPINE. Please read carefully.

Attack range, there's no way they had an AoE range of 2.

Am I missing something here? Are Thors really that bad for Protoss?

I think the thor change is good. Mass thors vs P is pretty tough to stop. Maybe allowing some extra damage to them from feedback might make it easier to deal with. I like how blizzard keeps going back and forth with their changes..

Because it doesn't need fixing.

Path overall looks great, looking forward to it, still think infestors need to be nerfed a little bit, the new FG is ridiculously good. Nice to give HTs some more good use after the KA nerf as well. Good job blizzard

Strike cannon thors with marines, hellions, or tanks supporting could effectively kill any ground army we had. If there were enough marines supporting, voids were terribly inefficient as well.

so many good changes! i dunno why they would change the thors though, unless they automatically start with the upgrade and they just have not clarified it yet

You're right, Blizzard should fix the ZvP matchup - however, as was shown in another thread, Zerg is currently killing the crap out of Protoss in ZvP in Korea at high levels - so Zerg should be nerfed. (if you are curious, the thread can be found here:http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=218558)

Alternatively, lets see what this patch does. I'm a bit curious as to why the Infestor was slowed, but I doubt it will change much. The Thor change is primary there because Marines defending Thors were not beatable by either of Immortals or Void Rays, and Void Ray + Colossus and Void Ray + High Templar were both a bit too gas intensive to be able to fight them off. Immortal + High Templar is a bit better now, so it should be helpful overall.

I wish people would stop citing that thread without actually reading it, the korean graphs had a MUCH smaller sample size than it's foreign counterpart, less than 300 games for PvZ over the course of six months is not a good sample size, the results are obviously skewed.

Anyway I feel like protoss is getting too many options to deal with certain things again, first it was colossus and immortals that shared a similar purpose in that protoss had too much splash damage, not it seems that it's going to be archons and phoenixes to destroy mutas and just generally perform better against everything else, I would love to see more archons used but as it is now protoss is still really tough to deal with as zerg with all the openings they have.

I don't mind the infestor nerf, it just seems like a way for people to chase down infestors after a zerg attack fails or something, seems fine.

No clue what to say about the thor as I don't really play TvP.

Strike cannons is a researched ability on PTR?

I don't really get the Thor change at all. Its like Blizzard has an idea of how TvP should work, (MMMVG), and anything that deviates from that should be nerfed. Really, is there anything wrong with Thors?

Cheaper gas cost of ghosts actually opened up Thor/Ghost as a unit comp, they originally changed it because expecting terrans to afford ghosts and thors was too much just because of templar, you can do that now, but it was too strong, so they added an additional element of micro to make it more interesting, case in point you can now choose to 1) EMP the templar and be awesome, 2) EMP the immortals and not need the strike cannon, but your thors could get feedbacked and lose health 3) EMP the Thors so you don't take a hp hit, but deal with the hardened shield, that seems pretty cool to me.

Still, I was hoping that we could actually see a strong mech style in TvP. I don't think its really necessary to allow Protoss to easily defeat a Thor based army head on with ground units, when thors are extremely immobile, take forever to build, and awful against armored air. This whole patch stinks of aggressive balancing, and it just doesn't sit right with me.

Why in the hell would they change thors...

Terrible change that only affects one single matchup. Terrans were starting to branch out with more unique unit compositions and this will have a huge effect on keeping TvP quite stagnant.

If terran branching out more means they 1 base thor push almost every single game, youre right. At one point 5 straight terran opponents did it vs me. Hell, watch Trumps stream. He's done a 1 base thor rush EVERY single PvT I've seen him do for weeks if not a couple months. It was dumb.

Not sure it's going to do anything to 1 base thor pushes.

YES!

Excellent changes to the 1.3.3 patch.

Excellent!

Blizzard must have noticed very low win rates for Protoss on the PTR. Archon range buff very welcome, Warp 160 instead of 180 much more reasonable, and Thors having energy makes mech less OP vs Protoss.

Infestor speed I have no idea what they are going for there, but the rest was just gold! Thx for being awesome Blizzard!

I think the infestor change is to affect muta/infestor and phoenix/infestor balance. Basically you'll be less able to catch fast moving air units with a fungal unless the infestor is already in position

You should go check out the statistics thread ZVP has been in favor of zerg since march if you put all the international tournaments outside of korea together.

Same with in korea although there is a much greater disparity in zergs favor.

Im sure blizzard is keeping track of this. With all the zergs complaining its hard to see the truth, that tournament wise zerg is doing really well right now against protoss so i dont really see what needs fixing its in zergs favor right now but i think its pretty even , and you dont hear every protoss on the forums complaining about zvp balance just because zergs are doing better in tournaments.

If the same statistics over the past 2 months were reversed in protoss's favor we would see a huge outcry from zergs complaining even more about it. Thats the difference and its pretty disheartening that even with evidence right in front of them zergs continue to complain.

Here is the statistics thread you should check out : http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=218558

I wish there was a sarcasm font - I was trying to show that the "ZvP is unbalanced" argument was stupid because the win rates are pretty close to equal. I wasn't seriously arguing that Zerg needed a nerf - I was trying to make a sarcastic statement about the balance complaint.

since infestor become better and really usefull in ZvT, teching to broodlord become much more easier and safe, you will use corruptor to hold vikings... im not saying buffing corruptor would break ZvT, but it could, dont take is so lighty

Is the gateway time unchanged from live, or the ptr patch that made them shorter?

Interesting. I was wondering about the speed nerf. This may help out terran late game a little too given some of the 3 base fast hive BL/infestor builds that have been popping up verse terran lately.
