I can tell you, if production value is the same as Clash of the titans, it probably wont be worth it. Its not easy for me right know to watch Gsl, Tsl and play sc2, as I dont have much time for it.
I really think it will be better than clash of the titans, but....thats what they were saying about Mlg, I tried to watch MLG the other day and yeah.....No thanks I would rather rewatch old seasons of GSL.

I just saw it on my bank account and its only 14 euro something which is really not much considering we get 3 month of content. I'm really looking forward to it.

That could mean we could be in for over 800 VOD's for 20 dollars lol, thats like 2.5 cents per VOD.
If anyone is debating its value they're out of their mind.
How much did BW vods cost?

How many sucessful non-korean BW leagues were there?

Really now, how much money is $25 to you. You've probably chanced more on a meal at a chain restaurant and these guys are offering months of entertainment.
Seems like plenty of people trumpet their support of eSports but when it's time to get the wallet out and show you mean business, there's a lot of hesitation. It is worth the small price and risk.
Well they have my cash. Please stop comparing food wich is needed to survive (even if extra luxurious) to watching a game tournament online. It will make you look like an obsessed person who doesn't got his priorities right. Going out to a restaurant and spending a bunch on a meal is a need to survive? Man, I'm going to be dead any minute. Going out to eat is a form of leisure and entertainment, just because food is involved doesn't change that. Think about where you spend money and how - you've probably effectively set 25 bucks on fire and thrown it out the window over the past month without thinking twice. Bottom line for me: We spent as much as NASL costs on trivial shit all the time. If you like Starcraft 2 enough to be on TL.net, I can't imagine you won't get your money's worth out of NASL. How many times do i need to say in this thread? even with this trivial shit i know what to expect, here i don't. I also didn't buy a GSL 1 premium ticket since i didn't knew what to expect, once i saw it was good content i instantly bought one. Again, why should i take the risk if i can just wait see how it goes? Is that so hard to understand?

Man, it took me forever to find a link to buy the frickin' ticket. You'd think that there'd be a clear "BUY SEASON TICKET HERE" link on the nasl.tv website.
In any case, $20, a bajillion games? Yeah, that's alright. Basically, that's the cost of 2 movies (so about 4-5 hours of entertainment). God knows I'm going to get more than that just from watching the division play!
Not to mention being able to just watch and re-watch the players who play my race to steal their strats. Totally worthwhile.
[EDIT] I also noticed that jtv is still saying that it is charging me $25 (as opposed to $20) even with the presalenasl code. Anyone know what's the story there?

same for me but I checked my bank account and they took only 20 dollar from my bank account. actually at first I created a subscription without the code, then I asked xeris and he told me to cancel it and justin.tv refuned the money without me doing anything, so my bank account looks like this:
01APR11 , JUSTIN.TV , US , USD 25.00, RATE 1.4116, CHARGE 0.25, ERTF 0.25
04APR11 , JUSTIN.TV , KEVIN@JUSTIN. US , REFUND , USD 24.81, RATE 1.4250, CHARGE 0.25, ERTF 0.25
04APR11 , JUSTIN.TV , US , USD 20.00, RATE 1.4194, CHARGE 0.25, ERTF 0.25
like I said, I didnt have to call or contact justin.tv, they just refunded it when I canceled the subscription on the justin.tv homepage.

I probably wont. They said that the LQ stream is going to be higher bitrate than the premium gsl one. I also only bought the gsl one beause the times are so akward with korea.
|
I will probably tune into the live stream when the players I'm interested in are playing but I really don't like the casters they have lined up right now (sorry, iNcontrol and crew no offense it's just a preference thing). I've always been a fan of Tasteless' and Artosis' casting so that combined with a star studded crew in the GSL was a pretty big no-brainer for me.
There are a handful of people I'm excited about watching in the NASL but outside of those people I would like to see some better casters given how big of a deal this is although who knows, maybe iNcontrol will surprise me with his casting like he did with his play this last weekend at MLG. Good luck to all of the guys working on this and I really do hope it's a success, but before I give you guys my money I'd like to see if it's something that I want to invest my time/money in.
p.s. I know that it's a ton of games for only $20 so the price per vod is pretty low but I'm not worried about the quantity since in all reality I won't be able to watch every game even if I have the season pass. The quality if the production is what is in question for me. If season 1 proves to have strong production quality and good games throughout I'll probably buy one.

lol u had access to 800 english-casted BW VODs with high production value and extra content in a span of 3 months?
sure u did.
also whats the point of comparing bw to sc2 neway? its a totally different game, scene, following, everything. there's zero applicability for your argument.

Uh, jtv auto-renews your subscription?
"Your subscription started at April 06 2011. It is now active and will be automatically renewed on April 06 2012."
Since the channels seem to be created on a seasonal-basis (i.e. this one is named NASL Season One), does it make sense to have it auto-renew? Is there a way to make it /not/ auto-renew? (I'm honestly going to forget about this long before April 2012, and sometime next year, I'm sure I'll be like WTF, NASL?! Why are you charging me for Season One again??)

Bought my ticket. Dunno how people can have an issue with the money unless they're still young and don't have jobs. Definately worth it, sick players and heaps of games. It's gonna be wicked.
Edit: actually would also like to make it so it doesn't auto renew my subscription and remove my credit card details, can someone help me out in this regard please?

I got myself a ticket, I may be a poor student, but thats nothing an overdraft won't solve

God, you people overthink things. $20 for access to a couple hundred hours of content is peanuts, bottom line. Nobody's going to judge you if you're not interested or if you want to wait and see .. but don't downplay what it is just because you're not buying in.
|
Could you share a ticket with someone? What would the consequences of that be? Would only one person be able to watch the stream at a time?
|

It may work, but it's very likely that sharing an account to access paywalled content is a violation of JTV's TOS.

Its not hard to understand, but you haven't been continually make that particular argument. You made the argument that food was vital, and therefore different in the restaurant example, and I was responding very specifically to that post.
If you don't want to buy it for some reason, then fine. If you just can't afford it for some reason, then also fine.
However, if you can afford it and more or less want to watch, but are hemming and hawing over the 25 dollar price tag, thats the thing I can't understand, and it seems like there HAS been a lot of that kind of hamming and hawing in this thread.

I think what alot of people will be doing is not paying for the first season, seeing what it's like, and if they like it purchasing season 2 onwards, people pre-paying for something don't know much about is sketchy.

exactly. i don't know why this thread is 60+ pages when there's not much else to say but this. so many people bringing up nonsensical analogies and discussing budgeting and finances when we haven't even seen the product yet.
there will always be die-hards who camp out, reserve, pre-order, etc. for a product they want to do well. and the rest of us will wait until it's actually released before making a purchasing decision.
no use trying to convert someone into doing things your way.

Yeah I noticed this myself. I didnt want nasl to charge me 25$ next year again, so I canceled the subscription. But now it seems like I am unable to watch the vods for this season, and I have to pay 25$ again.
With other products that have an ongoing subscription, you can cancel the subscription, but you are still able to use the product for the time you have already paid for. It doesnt seem to work that way here.
Is there anyone I can contact about this, it would suck if I had to pay 50$ for one season, and remember to cancel the subscription 3 months from now.
