I've got the same issue PraccOrc, and if anyone could shed some light on it that would be great, because repeated queries to justin.tv have gone completely unanswered.

Think about what happened to the popularity of boxing in North America when PPV was brought in. Dead on arrival, and it had thousands of years of history and wide demographic appeal.

People need to recognize that $25 for a 3 month season = $100 a year, which is a lot for mainstream video entertainment. Unproven, non-mainstream products (and let us be clear, this is a product) need to be priced more accessibly if they wish to grow their market (Your friend tells you to watch this "awesome" new thing on the internet, just $25!!! You ignore him ofc).

The bad situation is made worse when you factor in the demographic NASL is appealing to - young people don't have much dough.

Furthermore, NASL's choice is barely revenue-maximizing; if they went with a more accessible "$10 for HD; free LQ VODs" they would sell far more tickets, make up most of their lost revenue, and significantly increase the growth potential of their fledgling industry. A (initially) 25% smaller prize pool would not have hurt them in the slightest. NASL's current pricing scheme wagers the institution's success against what will amount to a pittance in relative terms.

Lastly, this obviously poor pricing decision is an indictment against the competence of the organizers (which itself is already a matter of concern given their inscrutable website), and arguably against their intentions as well. I don't anticipate a well-run show.

Going to watch the free stream and it's going to be great because, unlike the GSL, I won't have to wake up/stay up at 4:00am or whatever time the GSL usually is in eastern time. I can't even watch it because it's not worth paying money to watch starcraft.

For the time being I'll bear with the ads. Frankly, no ads its not something quite appealing to me. Unless the premium starts offering something for the consumer in return I dont think many people will buy it.

The most exciting part of the NASL for me is the fact that it will be on at prime time (7 PM where I live) for FREE! Finally, consistent free high quality sc2 e-sports. Really spectacular. I wish I could bring myself to buy the ticket just as a thank you for their free stream, but I don't have the money.



Furthermore I have to say that sc2 is far more popular than BW ever was and somehow that means that being a fan is more expensive than it was in BW, and I think that's bullshit. I'd rather keep SC2 quiet and keep it free than expand it's popularity and have to pay, and that seems like the most backward mindset compared to what I've thought about e-sports over the past eight years.

Going to buy it because ( and in this order of priority)

A. I want to watch.
B. I can afford it.
C. I want to support the league.
D. It's not on at 5 am like GSL is.
E. I know more of the players, unlike GSL.

I going to buy mine tonight, i think its worth it since i know i will use it, if i had less time for watching i probably wouldn't bother, but that is some cheap entertainment

25 bucks? I don't care much about making them rich. I don't buy movies from the store and I won't buy ur HQ stream/vods. Ill keep my adblock and LQ stream cause its not about the flashy quality that makes a good game, its the good players showin off skill.

I've decided I probably will buy the pass, due to timing conflicts I won't be able to see all the games when it airs live.

Bought mine yesterday, was not aware of the $5 dollar discount . Either way, i live in a third world country and don't have that much money, but $25 dollars for 3 months of non-stop action? that's a pretty sweet deal, sign me up! (wait, i already did ). Plus i want to support SC2 as an e-sport.

I will be watching, if my job lets me: NASL + GSL + TSL... don't know if i'll have time for MLG (maybe nationals?), since i've heard a lot of negative stuff from MLG Dallas. For me it's a great deal since i pay $10 bucks for GSL and i only watch Code S and Code A Round of 8. If people are getting the SQ live stream for free, don't know why they are complaining, you've got options at least. Live and let live.

I'll be waiting to see the quality of the games and stream quality before deciding. It's not that I don't trust NASL, more based on previous lag issues from tournaments, and the low resolution of my screen, I don't really see the point in paying out.

Happy to sit through adverts if it ultimately helps E-Sports

i voted undecided a few days ago, but decided to buy it. There's just no way i'm going to be able to watch all the games when they air. Having the VODs available to me also means i can skip to the good stuff if i want. plus i'm supporting e-sports! lets face it, GOM wasn't that great when they first started casting SC2, but they're awesome now, all because we stuck with them. NASL has that potential as well.

$25 for 3 months is more than Netflix, just to keep things in perspective. $25 for 3 months of VOD access to 1 tournament? its just not worth it to me. maybe if my parents paid all my expenses or i could sit at home all day watching VODs id see things differently. but speaking as a student working part-time, $25/3mo is not an enticing price.

and whats the point in calling someone a douchebag on an internet forum for using adblock? the commercials will likely be a part of the cast, in between games or whatever, and the premium VOD access will just cut them out. if the free LQ stream has set timered ads that can go off DURING games, there's no way it'll sustain viewership.

Hes a douchebag because he wants in no way to support nor help NASL/e-sports, if watching the commercials is like justin.tv, every viewer watching an ad helps the streamer, why not do it? Also 25$ for 14 hours of content a week for 3 months is a good deal, no matter how you look at it. If you can't afford it ok thats fine, dont buy it? Also you dont have to just sit at home in your parents house watching VoDs all day to be able to afford to spend 25$ on entertainment, you just have to have a job or a source of income.
