I haven't played Typhon extensively but it seems like one of the better ladder maps, I think it has plenty of potential. I'm glad to see all this new map influx, really does a lot to keep the game fresh and interesting.

I love XN Fortress. Not so much Dual Sight though.

Really nice to see some new smaller maps in the new GSL. Hopefully these will be added to the Ladder map pool and we'll get some sort of rotation going!

I thought everyone agreed that Dual Sight is super small? But a 3-player map, that's interesting. It looks a bit small too though...:S

It seems that he expanded it a bit/added those one geyser gold bases since the map was first posted here, which was nice of him. I don't know the rush distance but it currently has the same number of bases as Xelnaga.

It's not my favorite map ever but it looks like it COULD provide some decent close-quarters games. I'm going to reserve judgment on it.

XN Fortress looks amazing. Absolutely in love with it, can't wait to see how awesome it is in practice.

Personally, I'm pretty sure that Xelnaga Caverns is going to be the standard going forward for a "small map" and Terminus will be the "large map" standard. Size-wise, I mean. Anything smaller than Xelnaga or bigger than Terminus/Taldarim seems a little silly.

what the hell, typhon peaks really? That map man, those corriders... omg...

Typhon peaks is great! I can go 4 gate to block zerg at his natural ramp with forcefields forever, then expand and keep him contained on 2 bases untill I get 4 colossi and rape him. best map ever!

I take it you've downvoted this map without playing it. There are three ways out of the natural (two of which lead to bases), and you can't FF them all that early. This is actually an unusually hard map to contain on, because there are so many corridors. Where do you intend to place your army/FFs to contain a Zerg to his natural? You have to basically be in the natural.

I wasn't being sarcastic, I just said it jokingly. I also put pylons at the other two exits while my army sits at the choke to the middle of the map. If they ever move to another choke I slap their hatchery/spine crawlers so they have to go back. They're not gonna base trade.

I imagine you're the second one, because he's a protoss. Am I right? I'd love to see a replay of you using this strategy effectively, because I'm having trouble visualizing it.

I honestly feel Typhon is a new and "more interesting" Shakuras Plateau. It seems to have Blizzard's desired points of interest that Shakuras lacked, such as the blind spot in base, the not as easy to take natural, and a third base on low ground with the Xel'naga Caverns-like ring around the back. I'm pretty please with Typhon so far in my games as well. It's plenty large and good for macro game.

Pumped about GSTL.

TBH I'd rather the GSTL be the main format and the GSL be the secondary.

It's far more fun to see the team spirit and "young guns" who we don't normally get exposed to.

Likewise there is an extra layer of strategy/excitement in deciding which player to play in which situation.

typhoon imo is such a stupid gamble map. you pretty much cant fe cause if the enemy wants to allin you he has like 270° of area around the expo to attack.

2nd expansion has 1 additional entrance blocked by a destructible rock.
2nd expansion resources changed from 6 mineral 1 high yield gas to 5 mineral 1 normal gas.

Why do people complain about Shakuras being removed? The back rocks in close positions turned the map into a mess. Maybe if that random addition by Blizzard had been removed it would have been a good, simple macro map instead of a tank paradise.

Thanks for those updates-- yeah Terminus always seemed kind of Terran-favored with 3rax able to wall off 3 bases in TvZ; MarineKingPrime versus KyrixZenith in Ro32 of Feb/ GSL really highlighted how absurdly quickly Terran could mass up a huge mech army with 3 bases and minimal units for early defense.

As far as the other match-ups, this should make the map a lot more interesting; 3rd bases shouldn't be totally free.

New maps look great. Although Typhon Peaks looks rather bland I must say. No hate towards Blizzard intended.

I'm neither of those, I play on EU. http://sc2ranks.com/eu/276237/DoctorPhil
Here it is http://www.gamereplays.org/starcraft2/replays.php?game=33&show=details&id=196578
(read the comment there please)

I lost a lot of sentries zealots at the start when I wasn't looking, and I still won, that just goes to show how much room for error there is when there's chokes to abuse.

Edit: here's another one, I even beat a 3k masters with it in this one.

I love how people complain about Typhon's open expansion when Xel'Naga Caverns and Metalopolis are considered "great maps", considering both of them have such open wide naturals.

I have to say that I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the removal of Shakuras for Typhon. Typhon Peaks is a much better competitive map than Shakuras especially nowadays, and I love that map.

Can anyone upload these maps to NA? I wanted to play one of them yesterday but I couldnt find them...

<edit>
@up
I watched the replay vs the 3k masters, and I don't get it. You just did a standard contain. The zerg could very well use the back path to flank you, yet he didnt - just bad decision making, it happens - so what was your point with that replay? =|

the other guy asked to see it. This was also the first time I did it so i wasn't good at that strategy yet. If he tries to flank me I have a pylon there to see it (only not in that game) and I move in to snipe his expo while I block him out of it.
