What are your thoughts about having 7 T and 1 Z at GSL at the moment? Is it normal ?
Look at....the number of T winning the Go4SC2 cups, the qualified players for BDL, the qualified players for IEM championships, and the T in the semifinals of past GSLs. Yep, pretty normal I'd say.

When I play, it seems 80+% of the time, there's a gl hf or similar at the start of the game. 20% of the time, there's a gg at the end of the game. It's kinda weird. Everyone is happy at the start, but when they lose they just get out of there Kind of makes the initial gl hf a bit hollow. (I always say gl hf if the other person does, but I never initiate, and I rarely say gg).

I just versed 4 people who quit the game without gg'ing. It's poor.
Cheer up, Charlie. The fact of the matter is that there will always be impolite and immature kids playing online video games. I've found that the SC2 community (especially at higher levels) is exceptionally well-mannered comparatively. Not once have I heard anyone say "good game" or wish the other team good luck in CoD or Halo.

if 2 zergs are playing a map, doesn't the one spawning with the south side of his hatchery facing the minerals have an advantage because his larvae pop closer to the minerals and his drones don't have to run around the hatchery to start mining

It is not this community that makes a name for esports for the greater population. It is the actions of professionals. Calling people "faggots" because they play Terran, swearing and using terms like "bumrushed" during live broadcasts and alienating others simply because it's "funny" all provides for a poor image of esports.. if we want it to be taken seriously, then we need to take it seriously as well.. the problem is it is computer games - something we all do (at least initially) for "fun"..

As long as it doesnt cross the edge, I'm okay with pros BM'ing. It adds a lot of entertainment value and personality. Also, I might be reiterating a point here, but the SC2 community is really sensitive about his type of thing compared to others. Im not saying that that's bad, but thinkinh that a "faggot" once a fortnight is offensive is -imo- ludicrous.

I'd post this in the strategy forum, but I just made my account so I can't create threads. I don't know if people realize this, but you can 2 shot larva with blue flame hellions. I'm the only one I know of who does this; is the only reason this is an underused tactic due to the fact that it hasn't occurred to very many people?

I'd probably say its because your hellions would be very easy to kill that way...
Also killing drones is a lot more profitable than killing larvae. Larvae will just spawn again soon, drones won't

True, but you can spare one hellion shot in many situations. Obviously killing larva wouldn't be a priority, but there are times when it can be good.

O.K. I got a question in my head for some time now. Why are upgrades so damn good according to everyone?
I question this because. Example: if I upgrade roach range attack they get +1 damage. This costs me approximatively 2 roaches 2 roaches which equals 32 damage (2*16). Wouldnt I need more than 32 roaches to make the upgrade worthwhile?
I'm wrong. I know it. I feel it! ITS IN MY HEAD... but where?
plz help

because you start being able to 2 shot zerglings, which will reduce a lot of overkill etc. etc... you get the drift

Each attack upgrade gives roaches +2 damage. Now, in small numbers, you are right, the attack upgrade won't be much of a benefit against most units (Zerglings are an exception since you can 2 shot them now). However, with a larger army, the benefit is much much greater. The attack upgrade increases the dps of your roaches by 12.5%. If you have large enough army, then 12.5% greater DPS is worth a lot more than 2 roaches.

I've hear numerous times that if someone was a D+ player in iCCup, it basically guarantees that they are in at least mid diamond in SC2. However, I was a D+ in iCCup, yet I am only in gold league for SC2. I keep hearing about people who never played an RTS before and are now in diamond. I know that I have the excuse of school and that I only play on weekends, but this still makes me sad...
Edit: oh, and also, I play random in SC2, whereas I played protoss in BW, so this might also play a part since I have a way higher winning percentage as protoss than I do with any other race.

That is indeed surprising. I never played ICCUP, as I quit playing SC before it came around, but I got straight into diamond after 25 games when I first started playing SC2. I didn't even know anything about the game hardly, I just had semi-decent macro.
The only way I could see this happening is if your gameplay focused on cheese/all-ins in Broodwar, and you didn't have very good macro. All it takes to get to diamond is semi-decent macro, unless you play Terran of course, in which case you can easily get to masters by 1 base all-in cheesing every game. Or even the round of 16 in the GSL ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif)
Just focus on your macro, that's all it takes really.

First, lets check the maths...
Let N be the number of upgraded roaches. (And the number of roaches if no upgrade researched = N+2).
According to Liquipedia, the attack cooldown of roach is 2sec. Therefore the dps of unupgraded roach = 16/2 = 8 per second, or 8Hz (borrowing the unit for frequency) Meanwhile the dps of upgraded roach = 17/2 = 8.5Hz (I am assuming the +1 damage you provided is correct info, since I don't play zerg ^^;![](/mirror/smilies/wink.gif)
Thus TotDpsUpgraded = N x 8.5 And TotDpsUnupgraded = (N+2) x 8
Breakeven for the upgrade occurs when TotDpsUpgraded = TotDpsUnupgraded ie: N x 8.5 = (N+2) x 8 Therefore N = 32.
TL;DR So your maths is correct in saying you theoretically need to field 32 roaches to breakeven.
But things are a bit more complicated in practice. Firstly, do you know how many roaches you'll make per game? If you've made more than 32 roaches from the time you've finished the upgrade to the end of the game, the upgrade should have more than paid for itself, assuming the roaches are able to output their full attack damage.
Secondly, even if you are able to have X roaches onfield at one time, only the F number of roaches in the front row would be dealing damage at any time in the battle, in which the DPS comparison becomes (F x 8.5) versus (F x 8). Note that the 2 extra roaches you might have had makes no difference, which again illustrates the benefit of upgrading.
Hope this helps ![](/mirror/smilies/smile.gif)
EDIT:

This too. Critical upgrades also have the additional advantage of quickly reducing your enemy's dps.

Hey can someone tell me why the GSL doesn't use Jinro's last name?
He is always announced as just "Jonathan" not "Jonathan Walsh". They use Idra's first and last name, but only Jinro's first name.
Is this a mistake or is there some reason behind it?

Is IMMvp the best player in the world right now?
