Q: What is this thread?

A: General purpose, SC2 discussion thread.

Q: What should I be posting about?
A: Basically, anything you want to talk about but aren't sure if it warrants a topic of its own. Heard a rumour you want to share? A new video? A question you are sure is super common but can't find the answer to via searching? A brilliant new idea that you want to vet, to make sure it's really as brilliant as you think it is?

This is the place.

Note:
Posting standards will not be as high as if you were to make a new thread, but pointless spam will still not be tolerated. I have seen threads like these work out alright on other sites (for other games) so I figured, why not give it a shot? It's possible there's not really enough content for something like this to exist at this point in time, but no harm then, it will just die on its own.

GSL spoilers ...

So I was kind sick of balance talk and then thought about it, tho it doesnt deserve a thread I think it´s still pertinent ....

+ Show Spoiler +

They should just nerf teams oGs and IM
together:
most s class players
most champions

IM
mvp has complete gamesense and awareness, they should nerf him and make him more slow to think
nestea is THE reactionary protoss they should nerf his reaction a little bit

oGs

everything oGsMC does reek of imba, he does army faster and all his unities seems to have more attack power
Jinro has so much charisma and game sense/build order, they should make him more IdrA and nerf his killing buildings too ...
NaDa was overpowered in sc1 and is becoming op in sc2 too, they should nerf 20% his apm and increase 30% of his building construction ....

if people want to talk imba I think they should consider players first not races ....

ps: Jinro good luck in becoming the first gsl champion

I want to ask if anyone has any experience with ZvP overlord rescues.
At the late game where the two massive armies clash, the protoss often has sentries and will try to separate some forces of your main army. Has anyone tried to get the overlord speed and drop upgrade, take some overlords with you in the main army, and try to rescue some forces stuck behind the forcefields so you can drop them off at the other side?

Here's more of a question, but I can't seem to find it mentioned anywhere else.

I hear Day[9] advocate the "300 food push" for zerg to use against terrans and protoss.
Basically get maxed, stockpile larva and money, and then trade armies and get instantly re-maxed.
However, he never mentions it from the other point of view. How should one go about dealing with a late game zerg's "300 food push"?

if a zerg has gotten to this point you're probably going to lose, and it's because you let the zerg take too much of the map unopposed. things you do earlier in the game prevent him from stockpiling so much money. Constant Harrass, taking out bits of his army and making him reload it. Stuff like that. at least thats the right answer imo.

Also it is possible for zerg to do a late game all in push by making themselves like 270/200 and then remaxing by turning drones into spines while u make new units then cancelling them all. It would take a long time for u to get to this point but i doubt anything could stop a 370 food push lol. Answer to stoping it is above

Hi. As you can see, I'm a complete newbie on this forum. I just registered today so I have to wait 3 days to create my own topic …

I wanted to touch on something that Artosis said in the GSL during the match between IMMvp and TSL_Trickster on the map Xel'naga Caverns after the map was restarted due to some technical issues.

First, he said that in Starcraft I at least, it is more comfortable to attack down a map because the mini-map is on the bottom part of the map (and as a pro-gamer you click a lot more on the mini-map than you’d think ) and you want your mouse cursor to be closer to the mini-map and quote,

"99 % of pro-gamers drag and select and drag units (to create boxes) from the top-left to the bottom-right Now, again, it would be more efficient and better if we did it from the bottom-left to the top-right because that makes us closer to our mini-map which is the only place not on the screen that we actually click."

Someone named >JustQuitWarcraftIII< explained,

„He means that when pro-gamers create boxes to select units. They click on the upper left of the screen and then drag the cursor down to bottom right to create a box.

Artosis was suggesting that if you click on the bottom left first and then drag your cursor up to top right, you would get a glimpse of the mini-map very easily every time you create a box.“

Now, I’m wondering,

let’s say you’re in the bottom-left spawn location or in any spawn-location really, and you click on your mini-map in such a way that your unit(s) will be in the bottom-left screen wouldn't it be best to drag your cursor from the top-right to the bottom-left (to create a box), that way your mouse cursor ends up closest to, and you will get the most glimpses on, the mini-map. I think this might be the most efficient way of doing it regardless of the spawn location.

But please correct me if I’m wrong. =)

Didn't blizzard say that they would allow more characters? I hate how I can not have the same ID from wc3 to sc2 because of the shorter character limit.

Your thinking too hard into it. If you are manuvering your game screen so you can select units and still be close to the minimap, you are probably overextending yourself. There are soo many variables already being dealt with, that constantly readjusting your screen just so you can box units close to the minimap is a waste of time, and wont do anything to improve your game. The whole speech that Artosis gave was only about a very very minor advantage in certain situations. It just means that once your units are selected, your mouse cursor is close to the minimap instead of at the bottom right of the screen or w/e. IMO this doesnt make any difference whatsoever, especially if your not already one of the very best progamers in the world, where that 1 split second click means you win. At a regular playing level, there are soo many mistakes going on already between both players, that something as small as this would be pointless to implement.
