I had the same situation or even worse. Usually my units are killed before they send the warning message, and I have to try to look everywhere to find what's under attack. I thought it was for everyone, but now it seems it's not. Pretty unfair though.

As for the 'probe is under attack' noise, the huge red blink exclamation mark that appears on the minimap is never delayed, so use that.

Also out of the early game your unit is prob dead by the time you get your notification anyways so...

again, obviously these things are helpful, but if it is desgined to be a little slow I don't have a problem with that. As long as it's fair to both sides.

I'm not exactly a 'top player' but that's what I do and I don't have trouble noticing those things. The ping on the minimap is usually enough to give it away.

The reason the sounds are delayed though is because if it's already playing a sound on that channel then the "You are under attack" sound will be delayed. Some of the sounds that will delay it are a building warping in, you require more minerals/gas/pylons or various other things. I'm not sure about attack sounds, but those are so short it doesn't really matter.

I've asked people I play against if they have a similar problem and nobody has ever said they did. So I don't think its fair that some get the sounds on time and some don't.

For me its usually and issue with having to construct more supply depots/overlords/food. In the beta this threw me off a lot since I would get supply stuck but it just trained me to check my food a lot more often.

i used to get this pretty often. i would watch my scout die and then get a delayed notice and think there were dts but it would just ping the spot where my dead scout was.
the world's a playground. you know that when you're a kid, but somewhere along the way everyone forgets it.

You shouldn't be relying on the audio message. It's kind of weird that it works this way, but still...just keep a better eye on your minimap?

Hey I too noticed this! Just realized... I too lose a lot of workers, and when I finally hear the message, the unit is like dead by the time i go try to check on it

Actually I just remembered isn't there an option that you can edit deciding how long to wait for before the message plays?

Whoa, I just realized this has happened to me tons of times but I never noticed it before. Yeah, by now I've learned to rely on the minimap for everything, but this should definitely be fixed.

Happens to me all the time too. I've lost games because of it. I'll try out increasing the channels next time I play (though I may already be at max, in which case I'll decrease).

D: so glad i am not the only one!!! seriously all the warning/reminder comes in really late compare to sc1. for example it is easy to lose a worker in early by a scouting scv, i was like wth!!

Seriously I was never bothered by this feature. Brood War trained me to always look at my mini map... plus I have my enemy always as "red" so I see giant red blips on my screen that I take alert to.

I actually get this sometimes, yeah. 99% the minimap is enough but sometimes you can lose a scouting overlord or something.

in fact i dont even look at my minimap when i play. I like to telepathically read my opponent. A mental maphack if you will.
