I'm trying to figure out if my sc2 is screwed up or not. Lets say I scout with a drone, and I forget to have him move around in my opponents base. If he attacks my drone with one scv, I won't get the "we are under attack" warning message until the drone is at 5 health. Half the time I see on the mini map that something is being attacked, and I save it, and go back to injecting or whatever...and then a few seconds later I finally get that warning message for being under attack.
Is everyone's game like this? I posted this in the Bnet forums and got literally zero response so I hope someone knows what I'm talking about here or can help me out.

I don't really think this is worth posting. But tbh honest its just best to forget this and play some sc2. Watch the awsome games att dreamhack aswell^^

I would double check that its not you looking at the worker till hes at soo low health b4 you call it a glitch on your side or blizzards. I've never heard of this so it might be your side, but who knows?

Same here, When I try to make units, it just never says anything until 5 seconds "you need to build additional pylons"
Sometimes the under attack message is also delayed. Don't know the reason. Probably theres an ongoing sound is played just how like if i click a marine then immedietely switch to lets say a marauder, the marauder's respond isn't heard.

You could try decreasing "Sound Channels" in the SC2 Options, from like 64 to 32.

I doubt sound channel limitations would be the case in the first-scout stage of the game. I was thinking maybe their sound cards are so shitty they can't handle having the setting at 64 channels. I don't have much knowledge to back this up but it's just something worth trying.

i have the same problem sometimes and its definitly not the soundcard or my sound card because the red warning sign on the minimap is sometimes delayed for me as well

I've had this happen while listening to music, where its all my workers . MINIMAP FTW -_-

Any chance it's the lag?

I also think the under attack massage comes way to late. Sometimes I got the massage and half my base is already destroyed.Of course you could argue that I should have looked at the minimap and whatnot, but if the massage doesn't really help me they could have just not implemented it.

The same things happen to me but I've just conisidered it to be part of the game. I try to pay more attention to the minimap these days.

this is a problem since the beta and blizzard didnt fixed it and I think they wont fix it, cause for noobs its not a big problem and the noobs are the one who are important for blizzard.
|
I have the exact same problem and it's super annoying! Blizzard should really fix it, that can totally be game changing.
|
I know for a fact Sound Channel options does in indeed "remove" sounds if you can't support it in World of Warcraft. For example if I set it higher than what I have it set on now, I do indeed lose ingame combat sounds, not all of it, but the close quarter sounds. I would imagine this may be the case here also, try it and see. Set it to the lowest setting.

Actually, most good players usually don't use these notifications. It's usually the noobs who need the notifications to tell them what is happening on the minimap.

Source?
As for addressing the OP, I have encountered this sometimes too, it can be a bit annoying.

This have been discussed before.
The problem is around since beta. I have it too and I think everyone has it. If only some have the problem, then it should be immediately looked at. Also it is not only the "We are under attack" message. A lot of the alerts are delayed more or less.
I personally made a post in bnet forums about it and it got buried under the nerf voidrays/marauder/roach/*insert sc2 unit here* topics and their respective flame. Then I thought that's not the way to provide feedback (through bnet forum) and I've sent an email to their tech support. Never got an answer or anything. I don't know if they are aware of it, if they plan to fix it or if they consider it to "work as intended".
I also don't know a good way to provide feedback to blizzard, only thing that worked so far is flame and spam on the forum. But then again that's not quite nice.

I've had this happen multiple times before. What I think happens is you are spamming create drone, the game is playing the require minerals noise, and then it waits until there is no more sound playing and then the your drone is under attack message finally has a chance to register.
This results in games where I like lose all the zerglings that are working over the rocks on blistering sands to a cannon because there were no you are under attack messages to tell me it was time to remove them. At first I was second guessing myself, but I can tell it is happening because from my point of view in the replay it all happens the exact same way.
If anyone finds a solution to this, I'd love to hear it. My sound card isn't that shitty, and even if it were, the OS should be dealing with sound mixing, not the sound card.
|
I know for a fact that I don't get the voice 'we require more minerals' until after it has displayed the message on the left hand side of the screen a couple of times. To clarify, the red text notifications seem to pop up a couple of times before the voice kicks in. I don't know if this is how it's supposed to be or not and I'm not on my SC2 machine at the moment so I can't see if the same thing applies to being attacked. Good luck though.
