Sort of. It will cause all workers other than the one with cargo to be boosted, BUT, the one that does have cargo will sit still after it returns to the command center. So you could do it, then reorder the one with cargo to go mine again, or queue it up if you want.
This is a feasible way to get a big boost on your first two mineral trips, but will get hairy once you are dealing with 2+ scvs that have cargo and need to be re-ordered.

Scratch that, I'm wrong. Doesn't do anything. I don't think...

sounds kinda silly to focus hard on boosting your income in the first minute. i hope your right

well, no matter how good or bad this would be for teh game in general, its obvious that this technique in combination with mules gives terran an unfair advantage. basically they have no other choice than to fix this. and im happy about it. *lazynessisabliss*

Many people are talking about patching this.
How will it be patched?(not why, how)
If the delay is removed in order to make this technique useless, will blizzard allow income to increase by 7%.

The latter.
If they made it so all workers mined with no delay it would completely change all current balance.

I really can't understand why this is such a bee's nest issue. Seriously, every time i've checked TL for the last two days, this thread has collected several more "Patch now" posts. Who cares? It won't affect low level play, and high level play is all about "spamming" usefully, like this trick.
Mules are an interesting point, but that is not the main problem with terran right now. Overall though, I think because 1) different races have different macro mechanics, and 2) using APM usefully should have the potential to give an advantage, the mule thing is not inherently imbalanced. It just needs to be balanced by other factors. In fact, according to a lot of zergs, T need more APM intensive macro mechanics right? this could be just the thing (as long as it is balanced by other factors).

I really like this Idea.. in theory. the huge problem I see is that terran have a clear advantage with the mules, getting 30 extra minerals at anytime through the game could mean the difference. I'm not suggesting they patch it the whole thing, but maybe just the mules. (even though it is micro intensive)

APM and Focus are finite resources, and this "trick" is a legitimate mechanic because it offers the players the choice of getting slight boost in minerals for a huge APM and focus investment.
The claims that this would only be a mindless chore would probably be valid if this were only useful early game, but I can think of at least 3 ways of using it outside just the first few minutes.
1) Mules: As many have mentioned before, the difference between using mineral boost on mules and not using it is small but it's a worthwhile trick at the highest levels of play.
2)Low Econ Builds: Want to cut drones for a quick ling rush to the juggular? Want to skimp out on SCVs to run down your opponent with an unexpected ball of rines? Then this strategy is a Godsend for you! (WHAT! the Kwanro build is useful again?! kekekekeke)
3) Worker Transfers: When you split your worker count in half with the first expo or can only send a handful of workers to some far, outcast base, you can help supplement your income with this trick. Just make sure you have the APM to pump out units and don't forget to cancel this command once your mineral patches start becoming saturated.

This trick is silly. First of all unlike phaing it benefits terran the most. Guess what race it does not benefit? Thats right the race with easily harassed expansions. One quick hellion or reaper and baibai to minutes of shift click minerals + C.
I hope they just patch it or that tournaments ban its use because frankly if its not dealt with fast it will spread and it will be neccessary even in the lower diamond leagues. I will happily sing the brood war happy cheerfull "we discovered a fancy micro trick" song if it was something that affected the flow of battles and introduced a new aspect to any matchup but this 7% mechanic just outright stinks.
it's a worthwhile trick at the highest levels of play. Its not, it is something that will start at the higher levels and then seep into the lower levels. ITs something YOU eventually will have to DO. This is not god sent this is sent by the rts devil. Economy is the brutal blugdeon that fuels strategy and this will throw off ALOT of timings by 7% and guess what race needs to learn all these timings? Guess what race is outright reactionary untill tier 3 +4 expansions? guess what race will be affected the most?

I believe many of you are highly overestimating this tricks use for Terran mules. By the time a Terran has mules out, there are typically 2 scvs per mineral patch already. This trick literally has no value if two workers are already on one patch. The only time this would be seriously more beneficial for Terran players over the other races is when he/she drops a bunch of mules at the gold/island expansion, but even then, at this point in the game it should be near impossible to have enough focus, speed and apm to be able to waste time on a simple 7% increase from only one base.
I would also argue that potentially this trick can possibly benefit Zerg early game. Considering many Zerg build involve getting the natural expo, that means 2 bases running on less saturation than both toss and Terran. Meaning with focus and speed a zerg player can squeeze out a significant mineral increase on these bases.

There is an easier way you know. Select a worker that is mining or that has already returned its cargo. Hold shift and double right click on the mineral patch it was mining from. You can do this with all of your probes much more easily than this shift + C thing.
EDIT: WAIT this does work however you cannot que up as many commands and you have to redo all of your probes over and over. Also ty for making all ins that much stronger.

Stop QQing.
As it has been posted numerous times on this thread already, this 'trick' is not OP or unfair, because
1. Soon as you have 2 workers on a mineral, u're not getting any advantage by using the 'c' trick 2. After early game (sub 5 minutes), unless u have +200 APM like some of the top pros, u ain't gonna be able to utilize this trick.
|
this will have no effect on any timings whatsoever. if you're timing is so messed up that you lose because your opponents barracks or factory comes 3 seconds earlier, you're doing something wrong.

Unfortunately, the only good option is the least likely one. Whether it makes sense or not, pro players are often quoted on subjects outside of their profession. Please use declarative sentences with caution.
