In my experience yes. But wouldn't say I've got the trick working perfectly. It definitely puts a strain on other basic macro mechanics if you focus too much Q'ing, the mineral return. As Zerg, I droned until 10 then made an overlord. Usually when the overlord pops I have ~150, with the trick its more like ~180. But that could be my own mistakes generating the extra income. (I realize this isn't the optimal opening, but its an easy measure of the mineral boosting technique. The key as far as I know is ending with a right click on the mineral patch otherwise the drone goes idle at the hatch(etc). Edit: Like to add that while focused executing this trick my apm is around 150, but if i was better I'd boost/Q more

Can you do this trick by selecting all your workers, wait for 1 to return cargo and press shift-c? (This is similar to the scv hold position trick in bw)
