Definitely hope Zerg sounds are improved in HotS, very lacking Need more music for Z/P too.

Sound effects in SC2 are better overall, but they do lack that punch that they had in SC1.

Take the tank for example, sieging and unsieging isn't nearly as punchy and memorable as it was in SC1, but it does sound a lot better in SC2.

Like most people here, I really want some of that punchiness back.

Agree with everything. Although some sounds are nice, Zerg definitely needs a buff in their sounds. Hydras and Ultralisks are the worse ones.

The sounds getting cut off can be quite funny if you play Terran. You get hilarious lines like "In the rear-" and "Aah!-"

I was probably a huge proponent to complaining about the sound issues in beta. After awhile, I figured "these can't be final... no way, they'll fix it in the retail version" and low and behold, we're left with the same sounds.

Its not even just the zerg sounds though, the terran and protoss are lacking as well. The harsh sound of zealots attacking in SCBW has been reduced to a "swish swish" just like most other sounds. The thunderous boom of the siege tank when it fires... oh... how I miss the thunder.

When I was a kid, I thought that hydras shot acid, sorta like roaches now. Only later did I realize they shot spines. I like the newer ones better, they are more "spine shooting death machine esque" I am unsure of what you are trying to get at here, the sfx is perfect.

I honestly doubt anyone would object if Blizzard switched out the current sounds and put in the exact same sounds from BW.

Most of the sounds are pretty average.. But OMG roaches have the best sound effects! When you select one and they make that weird blp blip blee blewp sound it reminds me of the cute little octopus alien in MiB that vomits in Will Smith's face.
Jaedong gives me a deep resonance.

I personally think all the Zerg sound effects were better in BW. The Zergling "BAM" sound when they attack is just awesome. Although it doesn't make a lot sense for them to make a "BAM" sound, it's just more awesome and classic.
I also think the Mutalisk attack sound is more awesome then the boring, plain one that's in SC2.

Roaches are easily my favorite unit in SC2 hands down. They're just fantastic in every way. I love their sounds, their mechanics, and their graphical design.

Unfortunately I hate their supply cost.... *grr*

winamp music > sounds in this game. (yes i use my minimap instead of sounds)

Actually you can set the sound channels, which is the amount of side effects that can play at once. Although it's still quite quiet.
I have an announcement to make, "Moo!" That is all.

I agree tonnes. The Stalker also needs a sound buff and a death animation buff, you can lose 3 or 4 and hardly even notice, it seems.
Man, do I not keep this up to date, or what?

Obviously everything in brood war wasn't super rosy. The hatchery sound in brood war made me turn off all building sounds, and some of the overlord sounds were a bit loud and obnoxious. But overall they were a lot better than their counterparts in sc2. I've been saying this since the beginning of beta, but other people shouted me down saying they were obviously placeholders.
