Missions weren't too hard on brutal, you just have to play them a few times to get the feel for them. So probably won't change a lot during the campaign

The last mission is pretty hard on Brutal, that's about it.

you guys found all-in hard?, well I guess it's hard when you don't go the standard formula of mass siege tanks in chokes + bunkers. I really hated 'In Utter Darkness' though, took me hours to beat that. Other than that Brutal is really fun imo, and I'm a gold player myself as well . So I'd say you should go for it.

The last level is the only one worth playing.

I absolutely couldn't beat All-In on brutal when I eliminated the ground.

When I redid it and eliminated the air, I beat it first try.. xD

I found the last mission to be fairly hard on Brutal, took me a couple of hours but that's about it. It was almost a disappointment when compared to the difficulty of some of the SC1 campaigns.

the game is fine difficulty wise, except that you make far more $$ than u should for upgrades, you have access to so many it makes it easy.

and unless ur a pretty good diamond player it shouldnt be "too easy".

SC1 campaigns.

lulz. Okay, really though, are you positive that you aren't referring to some of the BW campaigns? Because there was absolutely nothing in SCI that couldn't be handled by massing a single unit type just like SCII. BW on the other hand became a lot more manageable when mixing units and utilizing flanking manouevers. That little uprising against Aldaris on Shakuras for example had you up against reavers, zealots, dark templars, carriers and a probe, often all at once. It actually required some planning to defeat it unlike 9/10 terran missions for SCII which was Mass marine and medic, occasionally supplemented by missions unit of choice. I'm also pretty sure that TFT is Blizzards toughest SP campaign, at least post WC2 that is.

Yes, I meant the BW campaigns, my apologies.

From my experience, just play defense, macro up to 200/200, then go win... I really enjoyed the story though, and the campaign was just hard enough to make it feel like you had accomplished something.

Even on brutal some of the missions are really really easy to be entirely honest. If its Zeratul control mission then its the easiest thing ever. Honestly. And for in Utter Darkness if you get a lot of upgrades really quick you should be alright as long as you continue to macro up a meaty army. Still not especially easy though but the first 1500 aren't so bad if you abuse positioning and forget about saving the archives.

What? I suggest you go back and replay the sc/bw campaigns. They are all very easy. I would compare the sc/bw campaigns to normal difficulty in sc2.

The sc2 campaign is quite easy on brutal except for the last level, but even that level is easy if you know the correct way to play it.

edit: @Billy, the Aldaris mission you are talking about is ridiculously easy to beat with mass dragoons. That level shouldnt require any thought whatsoever. Just macro up a few control groups of goons, then a-move to victory.

Try getting the hardmode campaign achievements, some of thim are definitely a little challenging and force you to think outside the box.

And "All In" on brutal is no cakewalk, took me 4-5 tries before I finally beat it...though I didn't tech to the PF like I should have I guess.

it was pretty easy. a couple missions were semi-challenging, but if you aren't enjoying it, perhaps the single player just isn't your cup of tea.

Remember starcraft 2 was made in mind (apparently) of the millions of inevitable newbies new to the scene, so "normal" is made for "normal" people, as in hard for a newbie but easy for a veteran. So if you're in gold you should probably play on Hard, Normal if you want it to be less challenging and Brutal if you want it to be challenging.

Also, yeah the missions do get harder and harder, at a pretty consistent rate actually. When you get closer to the end, especially the last few levels, it is significantly harder than the beginning. But of course the beginning was easy on purpose to get new players to learn the game.

Lol nope rauders don't get stim xD

Been doing the mission and am on the one where you have to kill the toss base and theres a wall of fire chasing you. Honestly not that hard so far even though its on brutal.

Although I picked ghosts instead of spectres because the mission was funn (played the Tosh one for liek 5 mins then aborted, I hate missions where you're not in control of everything) and now I find Spectres have god like spells oh well at least they still got nukes.

The only mission I didn't get first try so far has been the last protoss one where u defend until u kill 2500 zerg, first time I tried to keep the gold expo but then i realised I could just make a pylon wall at the top of the ramps and make a million collosi, but abandonned the Archives, might go back and try for the bonus on this one but I suspect I'd just have to make 3 pylon walls coupled with some well placed collosi anyway ...

So yeah, good input guys at least the story is interesting even though its not too hard.

Oh also, do I still get credit for those achievments which are like "Kill X units on hard" if I do it in brutal?

Yeah, besides the achievements, missions are easy to beat on any difficulty. I haven't gone through the entire campaign purely on brutal, but I've tried out some of the earlier ones and it doesn't feel any different from normal/hard. Getting all the achievements (the ones that have to do with hard difficulty) might be a challenge though.

"In utter darkness" and "All-in" aren't that bad once you figure out wich unit to mass (VR's w/ upgrades for "In utter darkness" and banshee's for "All-in" if you went no air).
Sure you might need a couple of tanks and PF's to make the defence abit easier on "All-in" but other than that its not a problem.

The hardest achievement (or rather the most boring/the one that takes the longest time to get) is in my opinion Lost Viking:Gold.
