So I'll be honest, I've never really been much of a campaign fan. My SC2 experience sort of went like this, bought the game skipped practice league and went right into placement matches. So then after a week or so I decided to give the campaign a shot. Now I don't play terran so I decided to start on the easiest setting.
Rolled over the first mission, this was to be expected, but I set the difficulty up one level. Rolled the second mission no problems, set the difficulty up one level higher. I've done about 10 missions or so and I gotta say, I'm pretty bored of it already, simply not very challenging.
Does it get significantly harder with the coming missions? Or should I just not bother with it?
edit: also do marauder ever get stim in the campaign? was looking forward to drop-stimming hatches like so many terrans do to me

Are you not on Brutal? I'm not saying Brutal is some impossible difficulty but if you aren't even on it then I'm not sure why you are calling it too easy.
|
Don't know what the difficulty is called, just picked the bottom one which I assumed was the hardest after a few missions.
|
Well all I can really say is that it was an extremely fun single player experience and completely worth the time I spent beating it. It wasn't that hard except for a few missions, but it wasn't designed to be super difficult for people who can get into Diamond easily.
|
Mm alright might give it another shot then, also Im only in gold
|
The campaign is easy even on brutal, sadly it will not change.
|
Ya there are 3ish levels that are kinda tricky on the hardest difficulty, but if you know what you are doing you can make it through all of them without too much difficulty.
|
Campaign gets a touch harder, but not much.
Even brutal isnt bad.
|
Good macro and a little thinking will roll you through the campaign on hardest setting no problem, the only exception would be All In where you do need a plan to get through it (especially if you chosse to do it with the flyers still up).
Campaign is more for those not terribly into the multiplayer aspect, for the story, and for those new to the game.
And no, sadly Marauders never get to stim in the campaign

I felt that the game reached maximum difficult toward the 50%-60% mark. The final missions were pretty easy. It's more the ones with a time limit that will provide a challenge.

Campaign gets harder with time. Especially if you're doing achievements. Casual difficulty (easiest one) is... well.. casual... It's purpose is to introduce you to everything. play on hard while doing achievement and/or brutal.

Even brutal isn't that bad depending on your skill level. The campaign, as a whole, is designed for people who aren't competitive RTS gamers. Anyone in Diamond, and even likely Plat, can probably roll through the campaign on brutal. There are only a few missions that can give anyone trouble, most notably the final mission depending on upgrade choices.
|
It does get quite harder over time. Most missions are, you have a small base and you have to defeat a much larger base. However in some missions there are twists and turns: You can select your path for storyline. Going out of topic here, so yeah, it does get harder. Brutal is quite hard but not impossible. In my opinon, just requires patience and time. Dont rush things especially hard and brutalwise. (Y) For me the last mission was quite a large step cus of the final boss.

To be honest, most of the missions in the campaign can be completed with just building marines and medics. There some missions where you just have to spam the unit being introduced, even in brutal, so yes it's pretty easy.
There are only a select few missions I found hard. Some people find All In and In Utter Darkness hard.
If you're looking for more of a challenge for the last mission, choose to eliminate the ground. Eliminating the air makes the last mission a lot easier.
|
You can get through most of them with nothing but marines. Sometimes you need to support them with medics and whatever the new unit is, but very few missions require any thought.

Well I don't know I eliminated ground and didn't even use the artifact once... Just don't take the hive mind emulator and do air, because with those things it really gets a joke.

If you want to step up the challenge, you can always do a Brutal No-Upgrades Run, where you don't buy any upgrades or do research. There was a thread on that, but the poster wasn't able to beat All-In without upgrades (not yet, anyway).
I'd love to see a video of all-in sans upgrades.
|
Meh, I skipped the campaign all together for 2-3 months while practicing 1v1. All in is not even close to the difficulty of the final protoss mission in my opinion. None are incredibly difficult but a few took me a few restarts to beat with achievements or with the certainty of success which I enjoy.
I did not read guides nor spoilers but all-in was not a challenge at all compared to many other missions in my opinion.
|
There was one level on Brutal that took me a couple hours to beat.
Everything else is retardedly easy.
