really quite doubt this is true... or misleading
he probably just finished all the missions except for one and got that one on his playthrough by setting that one mission on brutal.... or maybe just happened to get both achievements on the same day

You can repeat the same mission over and over to get a better time. Just do it before you beat All In.

you can but you won't get the achievement, got total time under 480 minutes and still no achievement

Trying it now.
So far :
Mission 1 = 3:20
Mission 2 = 7:02
Mission 3 = 20:08
Smash & grab = 10:25
Devil's playground = 9:10 (could have done it in less but didn't micro the reapers good enough to kill the hatchs fast enough)
The evac = 25:04
So 6 missions so far for 1:15:09 --- 13 to go.
They'd better give me the achievement at the end cause i'm borred lol did 5 campaign so far :p

weird thing happening.
i sumed up all the time i got at the end of each mission done. i have a total of around 1h48min but on my save file when i look on the "load menu" it's written 1h20-ish... 30 minutes just vannished...
Don't get me wrong, that's 30 min free to get the 8hours achievement but i'd like to understand what clock does the achievement is based on...

I read many different theories about this achievement and I decided to do it on normal and fastest speed. It took me 4 hours irl, I played from 14:00-18:00 straight. I also kept all my credits to lame/abuse the armory achievements, therefore did all missions except the prophecy ones.
I suggest you just restart the campaign, don't bother with replaying them from the archive. I heard there might be a problem then.

Did this one evening in about 4 hours RL time. Did quite a few missions I didn't need to because hell this was normal and I felt like screwing around with perma-cloaked spectres and stuff so I needed to do Tosh's missions and then I wanted Vikings so I did Ariel's missions.

ok, i continued,
mission 7 : the outbreak ==> 32 min because i only attacked during the day and i was lazy
mission 8 : The train ==> 24 min 24 sec because you can't go any faster :-/
mission 9 : the dig ==> 32 min 22 sec because it was my lunch break and i wasn't really payin attention lol
mission 10 : Safe Heaven ==> 12 min, could have done it in 10 but i wanted to gather more viking
10 missions and 2 hours 57 minutes played in total (game time), i also didn't dare changing the game speed because i don't want to finnish the game and not get the achievement because i changed the settings (dunno if that would change anything but didn't dare ^^)
gonna do the 3 first mission of the prophetie, shouldn't take more than 30 min.
mobius factor took me 15 min on hard, i get it'll take 10 on normal.
i hate supernova (the whole wall of fire thing stresses me ^^) and i tend to fall asleep on the mow of void... :s

I have several saves that I made between missions (on the hyperion) and later saves show sometimes lower times. My conclusion was that when you save in between missions the time that is shown has nothing to do with the campaign duration, but is simply an actual time stamp.

another tip for doing the speed run: Don't do any mat horner rebellion missions. You don't need them to complete the campaign. maybe you need one or two, but i did it without doing the odin mission and follow up at least.

You do have to do a handful outside of the artifact line (you need a certain number to unlock the final missions), but you can pick and choose to get the shortest ones.

Question: do you have to do EVERY single mission (the alternative missions+protoss missions) or do you just have to get to and beat the last level?

You just need to beat the last level, i skipped all odin ones and also the prophecy ones.

I changed my gamespeed and i got the achievement so dont let that scare you though admittedly i did have plenty of time to spare. It just means the mission time showed doesnt = real time anymore.
The tip for outbreak is to mass reapers they destroy buildings soooo fast but too late now i guess.
The train, assuming thats the great train robbery i think you can do it quicker. I just recently did that on my brutal runthrough in 21.06 because you cant hang around on the train kills or they can spawn when the kill squads are walking on the line. I think they spawn a set time after you killed the previous one if that makes sense. Or maybe brutal is just faster, not that you want to risk doing that one on brutal.

If you load from a previous save then i think you will be ok i certainly did this a couple of times due to crashes etc but repeating a mission wont be ok. So you could feasibly do a mission over to get a good time before moving onto the next but that would be a very tedious way of doing it and you get a lot of slack anyway.
