how are people able to get haven's fall in 10mins? i just did it and it took a wooping 25mins.
i took out initial infestation with provided troops. then mass units with transport and whip out 2 other infestations and protected 3 other settlements.

Mass vikings makes Haven's Fall easy peezy

When your vikings are idle, and not scouting for the Zerg's next spawn, send them to the bottom or right expansion to take out the broodlords and mutalisks. Multitask and macro well.

On normal you could just make vikings + 2-3 rax reactors mm and just walk through each zerg base. Basically once you have any decent number of mm you can kill the northern base with viking support, then just send vikings to clear out air as you move to the next base. Should be able to kill 1-2 bases before they infest a 2nd town on normal.

I just went through the short 19/26 all on normal and it didn't give me the achievement, kinda stumped as to why(maybe setting game mode to faster makes it mad?)

Being paused during a mission and/or reloading a mission to do it again will both count against your 8 hours in your short playthrough, so do beware.
|
I'm pissed I didn't get this either. I beat it in 6 hours and 4 minutes.

slightly off topic, but i'd just like to point something out in case no one else has: you can replay missions, collect the research, and sell it again for ridiculous amounts of credits. infinitely. i got the master mechanic on one runthrough cos i was replaying missions to get acheivements and realized i was getting paid over and over and over for the research i picked up...

Oh now you tell me. I speed through normal to get this achievement. Would've been way more convenient if I didn't have to play at a snails pace.

Which missions did you do this on? It doesn't matter. Get over 25 research in zerg or protoss(both is best), then replay any mission and you will get whatever amount you are above 25. Doesn't need to be a mission where you get research at all. If you're right before Char and have got all research you'll get 250k extra each time.

Works best on Liberation Day on Casual. My personal best is 2:07. However, Replaying archive missions might indeed screw up this achievement. At least I just finished the campaign again on normal taking way less than 8 hours but replaying LD quite a few times. Didn't get the achievement :/.

I would skip Tosh all together. None of the three units you get for his mission line are any good and the first two missions take quite a while to do as well.
Something like this seems like it'd be fast. Giving some aproximate times based on how fast I did these on my hard play through and on brutal if my brutal time was better which was mostly the case since I knew what I was doing on brutal. Rounded some of the times down a little cause I know they get dramatically easier on normal:
Liberation Day (5m) -> The Outlaws (5m) -> Zero Hour (20m) -> Smash & Grab (10m) -> 40m total aproximately
-> Evacuation (20m) -> Outbreak (25m) -> Train Robbery (20m) -> Safe Haven (10m) -> The Dig (takes ages, on hard and brutal, dunno if it's much shorter on normal because I guess there are a lot less things to shoot with your laser beam, call it 35m but maybe a lot shorter). -> 115m total
-> Whispers of Doom (20m) -> A Sinister Turn (20m maybe a lot less on normal) -> Echoes of the Future (5m) -> The Mobius Factor (10m) -> 170m total
Cutthroat (20m) -> Supernova (20m) -> Maw of the Void (30m) -> 240m total. That's 4 hours to get to Char.
Following this path I got through easy peezy. I'm a silver player in multiplayer so it doesn't take much skill With the dig make sure you are aggressive and take out their bases. Then just go afk until the laser cuts through. I put in about 20-30 extra minutes to get to char. I did the anti-air mission as well. Probably ended up around 6-7 hours total. Critical upgrades: marines, medic healing efficiency, banshees, viking range, siege tanks, bunkers, scv repair, CC reactor, orbital command, and PF I did not have to re-do any missions. I suspect that doing anything in the archives screws up the achivement so be wary. Mission times are the only ones that count. I frequently went AFK on victory screens and in the hyperion. Also, I did this over the course of 3 days so real time doesn't matter at all.
Good post, bumping for great justice.
/end thread, no more confusion please

Ok, so this is baffling me: I completed the campaign on Normal (second time round) and added up all of my mission times just now, came up with about 475 minutes. That should be just under the threshold, but no achievement. What am I doing wrong?
|
took me about 5 hours to get this achievement(4.30-5), pure mm all the way
|
I have a question that I guess could fit in here. It's not possible to get this achivement by improving your times in the mission archives, I know that. But if a play (and beat) all the missions on hard via the mission archives do I get that achivement or do I have to start a new campaign on hard?
