Ok I'll join in!
I want to lose some fat now. I'm actually not sure exactly how many pounds I want to lose, nor can I track it because I don't have a scale, but I'll just be going by look. My plan is just to return to my running roots. I'm going to get a gym membership and just hop on the treadmill (running the streets of Seoul in this weather isn't a good option). I want to build up to something like 7 miles a day at 7:00 mins/mile.
But right now I'm sick so I'll have to wait for that to go away. Then I'll acquire a gym membership and get things going!

When I'm binging on drugs/alcohol I usually end up using money on them instead of food. Also with certain drugs it's better not to eat much incase you puke. Also some kill your appetite, too bad weed doesn't really help here. So yeah, if you feel like you're eating too much I advice you start using drugs. Also pick up smoking, that stuff is pretty expensive and after you've smoked for a long time and you get confronted with a decision "Should I buy a pack of cigarettes or some food?", you'll suddenly find the strenght to endure hunger.

To the poster above you: If you are trying to lose weight dont do this, bananas are just about pure carbs. If you are hungry and want to lose weight eat chicken, fish or meat if you can since there's no carbs and plenty of proteins. Basically you want to stay away from carbs as much as you can.

Good luck! 7mi @7mpm is hard to really maintain on a treadmill, but you can do it. I'll join in too:
bp1696 Age: 22 Starting weight: 180 lbs Goal weight: 145-150 lbs Height: 5'10 Starting Date: June 2008 (Current weight is 158, mainly from marathon training) Goal Date: June 2009
I'm also trying to get my running speed up to qualify for boston or nyc marathon. My current pace is 6:50mpm for 5k and 7:15mpm for 10k.

How's the diet looking to lose weight?

my status: keeping up with the cardio and daily exercising. my diet, NOT so great lately. LOST: 1 pound in 1 week. =/
let's say meeting up with friends too much leads to disaster. today was great though. when i go to college, it should be a lot easier. =]

Two bananas isn't going to hurt anyone. Who snacks on chicken or fish? Maybe tuna when I'm not so broke : /.

I've tried protein over the summer as a supplement and my diet has changed up by eating breakfast more frequently (I had a job where I had to be in at 6 AM and it was hard to get breakfast) and I would just have chicken or something for lunch, and then dinner was normal.
What I'm thinking of doing since I switched up my workout time:
I will be going to the gym in the AM instead of in the afternoon, so after the gym I will have a protein shake. The problem is I have gotten rid of breakfast by doing this. I guess I could have some toast too in the morning? Oh I should add I don't eat eggs so I have to eat other foods to get the protein I'm missing.
From there I am lost. Should I drink protein AGAIN later in the day or would that be a complete waste? I would rather see a faster gain since my metabolism gets a spike whenever I workout and even though I try to eat more my body just goes through it quicker. Well, if you aren't concerned about gaining a little fat.... Starting Strength + Gallon of whole milk a day + whatever you're regularly eating.... will pack on the mass and strength very quickly. Read through these (and the sidebar links) and then see if it's something you want to do. http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/Starting_Strength_Wikihttp://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/Nutrition,_Supplements_and_Cardio
Read through your suggestions I'm going to try the milk thing for about a month or less depending on results. I'll post updates in a couple of weeks and see if it works!

My advice: If you want to lose weight: tabata. Gain weight: eat 6 times aday, a meal every 3 hours, consist of mainly protein and hit the gym.

Yeahhh I've done quite a bit of running in my life so I should be able to handle my goal pretty easily, IF I stick to it. And that's the whole point of this thread I guess
eshlow It's difficult for me to control my diet because I can't do my own grocery shopping or choose when to take my meals. I thought I'd be able to control it more but it turns out I can't. But I'm not given horribly unhealthy foods so it's not so bad. I just need to add in a few healthy snacks rather than eating only 3 meals a day and I should be set. It won't be the most efficient path for burning fat but it'll work.

I have an hour personal training session tomorrow. I've told my PT that if I don't throw up after my workout, he's a failure.

Don't push yourself that hard that unless you are accustomed to it, and even in general it's unhealthy. But that's a good attitude to have. Just don't burn out.

Well, I mean if they're feeding you more than enough where you're feeling stuffed or overfilled after eating then maybe you could tell them to cut back with the portions.
Snacks are fine if they don't provide significant extra calories over what you're regularly eating.
For now I'd say try to track your weight and go by the cals in < cals out method of weight l loss. If you're taking in more cals than you burn then you're probably not going lose weight. That's the simplest form that you can analyze. So, for example, if your weight stays consistent on the same amount of food/cals as you've been eating then you probably need to reduce it just if a little bit and/or add in the extra exercise like you're gonna do.

Yes it will because when you work out your body will burn those carbs for energy instead of the fat which is your goal. Why would you snack on anything when you want to lose weight though? Tuna works, basically anything with no carbs in it work.

So happy right now, finally broke 2 milestones that I view as halfway points on the way to my goals. I just smashed 35 minutes for my run, with a 33:48 and I just weighed in at 89kg. I haven't been less than 90kg for about 3-4 years so this is big for me. Only 4 more kilos to lose by February 8th and I only need to knock another 3:48 off my run. I think this time next week I'll be just inside the 32 minute range.
How did your session with the personal trainer go Energies?
How is everyone else going with this?

Hey at least you're losing weight and not gaining / plateauing. Looking at your goal you still have till march only 14more to go. Keep going

haha yeah I think I'll have to try a lot harder. I think I'm going to hit the gyms once I go back to school.
Plus my dieting will be easier once I get out of home (my mom makes too much good food I can't resist)

I've lost like 5 lbs ever since I started. Just eating slightly less (full but not too full) and watching what I eat helps so much haha. I go to the gym mainly to play basketball with friends. Also for intramural basketball.
