Ah ok, well it was in england against one of the worst teams in austria (regarding fans and violence) so it was to be expected.

If fans can deal with that and he has an underdog team he is useful but that style is like budget Mourinho style.

Mourinho had the edge as an inspirational leader of men back in the day, something Rafa wasn’t isn’t really known for. But on the flip side that Mourinho psychological magic doesn’t work now to the extent it’s actually toxic and counter-productive nowadays. We went from the iconic images of Mourinho and Materazzi tearfully embracing after glorious successes with Inter to him falling out with half his squad every recent job he’s in.

It’s a squad that doesn’t really have many gaping holes any more, not particularly balanced but the only cog that’s super obvious in missing is a real top class defensive minded midfielder. Which I think is certainly a deficiency, but one that should be more exposed vs the top boys. It’s a lopsided squad rich in attacking talent that doesn’t attack all that well either. It’s a competitive squad, I don’t think it’s the best in the league certainly. So to brigade that gap you need a real tactical, technical elite coaching wizard. Except the sides United are competing with are the ones in possession of those too. If United had a squad that was a notch or two above the competition, then maybe Ole can bring home a league but they’re arguably at a squad and coaching deficit so I’m unsure how that’s meant to work.

today we had neither mctominay or fred sitting around the edge of the box to help break everton down when they had 10 men behind the ball. they were actually loitering with our centrebacks essentially creating another back 4 whilst wan bissaka and shaw were pushing forward. the real problem is that despite this they sucked at their job and still managed to concede

This season, 4 games into it, United looked fantastic (the main pundit reaction after the first four games of the season was 'damn, United looks great, I was wrong about Ole'). 6 games later, they've looked mediocre and they only have 4 points from three games vs Villa, Everton and West Ham (three solid PL teams.). Even though today's result was disappointing, the performance was an improvement over most recent games. Like, I'm fine with criticizing Ole. Some of it is on point - he deserves some blame for the midfield being poorly organized, which they have been. I also think he's less good than Klopp, Pep and Tuchel (who are something like the top 3 managers in the world now, anyway?) But I'm not fond of the recent form/recent results causing a change in opinion regarding whether or not he's fit to lead the team. Short-sightedness is a plague for football teams. Imo, the improvement we've seen during Solskjær's tenure (and there has been consistent improvement from one half year to the next) has warranted giving him this season too. I mean, if there was a Klopp or Pep level manager that just now happened to be available and interested, I could see the rush, but the team is very far from crashing and burning, players - and most fans - are still happy. Consistency has a significant value - a 5% improvement in manager isn't bound to lead to a 5% increase in performance. And while I will absolutely agree (and have before, too, even though I am a consistent supporter of his) that there are better managers than Solskjær, he's still done a very good job overall. ![]()

United stared the season well buy I would hardly call beating Leeds an Newcastle fantastic. In previous seasons there would be an excuse for dropping points like today but with this squad the team shouldn't be struggling to win every week. It's like same thing happens every game, get overrun in midfiled and concede tons of chances, concede a goal then try to come back from behind. Personally if he doesn't challenge for the title this season he has to go, this is Manchester United not Good Vibes United.

My insistence is that he should get this season, and not have people call for his head 7 games in. And while the performance the past 6 games has been lackluster (no disagreement there), they're still at most 3 points behind the leading team. If they're 25 points behind after 25 games, sure, by that point, it should be clear that he's not going to be their manager next season, and it'll be time to look for a new one.

Does anyone really think Ole wouldn’t have accepted staying as a caretaker for the rest of the season and we’ll see how you go? Instead Woodward kind of nailed his colours to the Ole mast while the Pochettinos and Tuchels of the world were available and now there does look to be a paucity of the real top line of the managers who are actually available if they do want a change. On the flip side football does encompass more than pure results and who’s the best, otherwise everyone would just support who is the best team. There is something nice about a guy who is held in such high regard by fans and who holds the club in such high regards doing well. I’d love it if he could lead a proper challenge for the big, big honours again, I’m just skeptical he can do it. I don’t think Zidane is on a par with the very top technical coaches, but for that Real Madrid side a combination of legend status in the game, at the club and a ridiculous squad met with great success.

also people give ole way too much shit about not having won trophies, when in reality he hasnt been anywhere near as bad. a 3rd and 2nd finish, still unbeaten away record, multiple semis and a final. obviously the lack of trophies cant keep going on but to say ole is clueless when he has clearly been the best manager out of all post fergie managers, thats just hating.
