He could post Messi numbers and win the Ballon D’Or for the next three seasons and Souness would still expect more, or disapprove of his hair or something. Yeah Grealish was quiet enough, only caught the second half to be fair, I think it might take a little adjustment + they pass so much more incisively if De Bruyne is around. Starting to come around to the idea of United doing something in the league this year. If Pogba and Fernandes can keep this up and Ole shows faith in playing both, maybe play the Fred/McTominy axis to be more defensive in a few big games, then United can squeak it. It still to me depends if a City/Chelsea/Liverpool can go on a remorseless winning machine run and post clear of 90 points or not though. Should be good craic anyway!

People don't tend to just fit straight in to Pep's teams. It took Mahrez a year to hit form, Sterling too.

City were playing slow and crossing the ball like they already had Kane on the pitch and then Spurs had a few good counters in which they scored one of them. Its also probably the worst thing they could have done cuz now Levy has a window to accept the bid from City for Kane if it is indeed on the table as the fans would accept it now after thinking they can compete still. Must be watching another game cause Spurs were fantastic and executed their game plan perfecty. They didn't create alot of chances but they hustled like mad and kept City quiet for most of the game. Fully deserved the win imo.

But they are more dependent on those two players than Chelsea pool city are. Especially Chelsea seems like they can deal with injuries in a much better way, maybe they'd struggle with losing Kante but pretty much anyone else they have a sub for. True, Chelsea need Lukaku to hit the ground running though. They were such a strange team to watch last season, I can’t really think of one I remember like them. Obviously Tuchel got them ticking, and they weren’t lucky. I can’t remember watching a team that had a good game plan, more often was the better team, but if I was marking my perception that of games on a spreadsheet would have so many 52-48s than a whole ton of 70-30 dominations with the odd unlucky loss or bad day. Perhaps I’m not describing how they made me feel last season very well haha, hope that makes sense! Actually in the time spent writing this out, actually one team does spring to mind, not necessarily stylistically, but Simeone’s Athletico. Very often the better side in their pomp, rarely did it necessarily feel comfortable. With Tuchel having had more time to flesh out his ideas and an obvious, real high quality attacking focal point in Lukaku I’m pretty sure that they’ll not have that going on and I’m pretty excited to see how they play.

City still went 10-0-3 in the 13 games De Bruyne was absent last season tho, and Chelsea has looked solid even when they've played without a striker I mean with Werner. Injuries can turn the tide either way, but if Fernandes gets injured in week 2 and is gone for 20 games, United's title chances are gone, too. I don't think that applies to any single player for the other top 3. The impact him and De Bruyne have on their respective teams are comparable, but City does have better backup. And Pogba is just such a moody player. My perspective is he was the most impressive player in the EC, even with France getting an early exit, he was obviously absolutely fantastic vs Leeds, but there's still the feeling that maybe he's just gonna have 7 games in a row where he's like.. Not good enough to play for any team in the PL. I really can't recall any other player who fluctuates between absolute world class and mid-tier championship level like he does. But it seems like he's really happy right now, and he seems to have a great relationship with Solskjær.
