I don't understand why its reported that even if messi is found guilty for tax evasion with a stipulated jail time, he does not have to serve it. Regardless, I don't buy into an argument that he is not guilty because he signed papers without understanding the content. As an adult, I don't think ignorance makes you innocent. Your signature implies you understood what the papers mean. At best ignorance mitigates the severity of your offence. A crime committed unknowingly is still a crime committed, especially when he is in position to probe into the questionable moves his team made. Some keyboard commentators mention that messi is innocent, and that the onus is on the prosecutor to prove that he is guilty. I think otherwise. The fact is a tax crime has been committed by him and has been proven. The onus is on messi to prove that he did so unknowingly and with no bad faith to seek for leniency to his crime.

The problem is not that he is in the wrong. Lets accept that ignorance is not a viable argument. The problem still remains that there is precedent for people doing the same thing before and being treated differently. So why the hoopla now ? Other people broke the same laws, paid their fines and the back taxes owed gg no re. Government gets what it wants, no one has to go to jail. And those people knew exactly what they were doing, but Messi. Oh no no, he has to be prosecuted, the judge was practically forced by a different prosecutor than the one in charge to push the case. Im not sure how the law works in Spain, but in Canada if the judge wants to do one thing the prosecutor and the local bodies cant push him to do something else. This is alot more to this than just trialing Messi for tax fraud. Mind you the call for jail time is basically just a money grab to so they can fine him more heavily. They wont actually go to jail or anything. The Government has alot more to gain from fining him (serverely mind you its not chump change, we are talking 10's of millions) and having him pay back taxes (which he already did) rather than forcing him to go to jail (where he will pay no taxes and not contribute anything). It has more to do with fucking with Catalonia.

Singapore judiciary system is wonderful. Judges and the law in the Western world is corrupt and greedy. It punishes the law-abiding citizens all the time.

Candidates are Simeone, Emery, Pellegrini and maybe a bunch of other less known coaches. After the CL's final, Simeone said it was time for him to reconsider his future, this might be the best timing for PSG to sign a world class coach. Blanc has been super awful, with a coach like Simeone and no more financial fairplay, Paris could finally become one of the best clubs in Europe \o/
