Sucks that the series is already over but CLE definitely overachieved with or without the injuries. Love already said he's re-signing and no reason for TT to go elsewhere. idk the West is always really competitive and it's hard to tell how it'll shake out- GSW didn't have to face SAS or LAC and OKC should hopefully be back with Durant healthy. ATL will be back, hopefully at full force as well- although they have a couple big FAs and who knows what will happen with them, and there's a couple of young teams that'll get another year of experience- MIL, ORL, Miami might be back depending on their injuries and so on. I don't think it'll be that competitive in the East still but I do think that it's likely that Cleveland will face more of a challenge next year than this year. Love said he's re-signing but everyone says that during the regular season so we'll see.

They did a good job forcing bad shots and turnovers (and GSW is prone to a couple dumb turnovers a game already) so while you could say that GSW could have performed better I think a lot of that is on how well the Cavs played them. they were shooting 20% on mostly open shots in the first quarter. that's a slow start. the only real edge cavs showed was the bunch of rebounds they had early, not all of which were off of warrior misses either. anyway for cavs+love vs gsw, their offense will improve but it is still dependent on streaky shooters making their shots. the defense would become quite a bit worse with love on the floor. the most notable change would be a faster pace of the game for cleveland

I don't think you've watched any of the western conference games but the Warriors did the same thing against the Rockets. They didn't play that well during many stretches of games 1-2 but were able to squeak by even with Harden going off. Same thing happened in game 1 with them surviving a massive Lebron game. My point stands. You are wrong to downplay Cavs defense as merely a result of a weak Eastern Conference. The official figures for the Finals Game 1 validate this. And no need to be emotional and descend to ad hominem.

Don't need to mention the East to do that. http://stats.nba.com/league/team/#!/advanced/?sort=DEF_RATING&dir=-1&Season=2014-15&SeasonType=Regular Season

Maybe if you just run the numbers starting post-trade, but counting the rest of the year is silly. Not an exact comparison, but post ASG, they were 14th. http://stats.nba.com/league/team/#!/advanced/?sort=DEF_RATING&dir=-1&Season=2014-15&SeasonType=Regular Season&SeasonSegment=Post All-Star

The data I pointed out was that the Cavaliers lead in defense in the playoffs. And then he tried to diminish this record by saying that the Cavs were playing in the "dreadful conference", which is related but irrelevant to the point I raised, and his claim was utterly demolished by the numbers for game 1. Regular season records was out of the discussion from the start.

I also feel like we have this weird tendency to want to say that Lebron James teams are simultaneously awesome and awful.
