Of course, that doesn't mean the NBA players association (or any union) is an inherently bad thing - the salary cap depresses player's values more than the existence of the union itself.

The only reason that the NBA is currently not being litigated from all sides with antitrust suits is the union protection. Collusion is illegal, and has been proven in court against other sports leagues. Its also all the more easy to discover in the modern electronic age... unless you are a government agency that loses emails...

You have to remember that the NBA marketplace, without a union, is actually a very competitive marketplace compared to other industries like the Auto or Airline industries (fields very associated with unionized membership). In those traditional industries, there are few employers and most labor is highly replaceable/interchangeable (and in the heydey of those industries, government regulation also prevented a lot of competition from new entrants). Basketball is basically the opposite, there are 30 competing employers for a few, highly skilled and non-interchangeable employees. Additionally, the cost of entry, while high to us, is still relatively low (considering potential revenues) because the owners cannot carve out the fiefdoms they currently have without the protections I talked about earlier.

If it does happen I hope Kidd is committed to their rebuild and not stifling Giannis and Parker by giving their minutes to journeymen vets. The Bucks need to suck and develop their young guys for a good 2-3 years and keep adding pieces through the draft. If Kidd comes in and starts trying to 'win now' it'd be a disaster for the Bucks.

Kidd made a failed coup to Brooklyn's Russian ownership to usurp the power of Nets general manager Billy King – and failed spectacularly. The Nets and Bucks are discussing compensation for Milwaukee hiring Kidd away, which will likely include second-round draft picks, sources told Yahoo Sports. "The Russians are done with Kidd," one high-ranking league source told Yahoo Sports on Saturday night. Ahahahah Also a spectacular shut down in the comments section of PBT. cantonbound13 - Jun 28, 2014 at 9:12 PM How many all stars does LeBron need to team up with to win a ring? Not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5…. #FAKELEGACY casualcommenter - Jun 28, 2014 at 9:39 PM “How many All-Stars does LeBron need to team up with to win a ring? Not 2.” Actually, the answer is 2. LeBron was playing with 2 fellow All-Stars when he won both of his rings in 2012 and 2013, so it’s no longer a debatable question. The answer is 2. Coincidentally, 2 All-Stars is the number of All-Stars Larry Bird and Magic Johnson each played with for much of their primes…. cantonbound13 - Jun 28, 2014 at 9:50 PM Those legends didn’t leave their team to join an all star that already lead a team to a championship (Wade). Big difference! antistratfordian - Jun 28, 2014 at 10:05 PM @cantonbound13 – Actually, that’s exactly what Magic did. “The only reason I came out was to play with Kareem and the Lakers.” If the Bulls won the coin toss for the #1 pick Magic said he would’ve stayed in school.

Also, the reality is all star means very little, the argument about the decision is Wade was arguably the 2 best player at the time (inarguably second best in the east), so the perception was that Lebron did not want the challenge of beating a rival. Also the "decision" should be mocked whenever possible facts be dammed, that shit was ridiculous.

Honestly I think it was just a bunch of unfortunate situations piled up, the dude was out celebrating a contract and some asshole threw a bottle at him. The injury was unfortunate but it also gave henson valuable playing time and he became a beast.
