I wonder how MacTavish can explain that he didnt find a new coach after losing 16 of 17.
Is it a surprise to him that he had to fire Eakins? Like he woke up all sweatty in his bed one night and realized he had to fire the guy. Cant he call Bylsma, Boucher or Maclean in advance?
I hope he crashes and burn so Katz doesnt have the choice to clean house after the season. The guy who gave 4 millions a year to Pouliot should be held accountable.

So of all people EDM has put on the trading block its Taylor Hall? (according to rumors) Are they like absolutely retarded or is the incompetence so inbred with the amount of old boys club bull going around that organization that its permanent?
At this point I'm hoping that either someone else manages to win the first overall pick away from EDM so that McDavid doesn't become yet another top prospect ruined by the massive incompetence that is EDM or that EDM in their infinite idiocy pass him over for someone else.
This whole EDM saga this year is like watching some serial drama show. You miss a couple of days and 4 new things have changed and another plots been added. I just don't see how trading a PPG player whos been near the top of the league for the last few years, despite having a rotating cast of coaches, can be considered uncoachable plus how does it improve EDM?

They'll definitely trade Taylor Hall just like they were definitely trading Nail Yakupov last summer.
Darren Dreger is such a twat. He just makes shit up and hopes it sticks.

I've realized that a majority of sports writers are insufferable dipshits. It's just a matter of figuring out if they're a stooge for the organization(s), or if they actively hate the organization they cover, or if they're just one of those who wing about a bunch of random baseless shit in an effort to find a scoop.
That being said, it wouldn't be surprising to see that idiot MacT trade one of his few pieces

I can't believe the preds are this good, it actually makes one TN team not suck this year.

Forsberg has kicked major ass. What a bad bad trade that was by WAS.
It also helps that the Crypt Keeper one again became a 1st line center thanks to that talented dipshit James Neal.

It also helps when Rinne is playing like a monster again.

really rinne has got to regress, he's playing every game and has a 937 sv% and 1.75 gaa. when rinne cools, forsberg is still going to score 70pt but outside of their 1st line and top 2 dmen (josi/weber) they have no depth. they dont have a good powerplay or score a lot of goals. i'll eat a sock if they keep this winning pace up for 50 more games.
|
Well do they need to be deep to keep playing like this? Pretty much their 2nd and 3rd lines hold down the other team's respective lines and don't look foolish, meanwhile the 6-7 good skaters on their team do almost all the work. Isn't that a fine strategy?

Agreed. However, the preds do play an overall tight game. They'll probably finish in the top 5 for GA, and rinne will post a .920+. It's not exactly a recipe for continued success though

They're sitting near the bottom in GF, and virtually all of their offense comes from three forwards. They're an injury or a cold streak away from having major problems. Pretty much all of the top teams get a more balanced distribution of points because their depth is way better

He might regress but the question is how much. He had a 930 season before. And if it wasnt for his 905 season his career stats would proably mid 920s not 920. As Hawk said, their bigger issue will be the scoring. Forsberg cools down and its going to be a bunch 1-0 loses.

Washington trading Forsberg was one of the dumbest trades ever. A promising prospect who was improving every year for Erat and Michael Latta? What the hell were they thinking?

Same thought process behind the Bs giving up Seguin for Riley fucking smith and Loui fucking Eriksson.

Except Seguin had already played 3 seasons with Boston with a peak of 67 points and was clearly having issues with the team. Eriksson had 3 years of getting 70+ points. While Seguin was obviously going to become a very good player, it wasn't really reasonable to predict that he'd become the leading scorer two years later.

Bailing on a talented player at 20 years old is too early. We saw flashes of what he had, and barely gave him any time to even earn his spot.
I think you have to be mentally unstable to go through with the trade not knowing what would happen two years later.

Ok, but it's not the same thing. Washington traded a very promising player away for a player who's never hit 60 points in his career and was clearly on the decline, plus a likely fourth liner. Boston at least got a player who'd hit 70 points 3 times in his career, and possibly still could be if not for concussion issues. They also got Joe Morrow, whom Dallas had drafted in the first round the year prior, and Reilly Smith, who had a good season last year, hitting 51 points.
Yes, it obviously wasn't a good trade, but at least Boston got something back. It just didn't work out well.
