Shattenkirk quietly continues to push hard for Norris. Lames are reverting to the mean, turns out having two great defencemen and thats it isnt a good system after all.

The flames actually continue to defy corsi... In terms of corsi, we have played great the past 6 games...

It appears we need to go back to having bad corsi.

That 20 round shootout between Washington and Florida... Is the NHL.com boxscore wrong? It says Jokinen was sent out 3 times.

Same thought process behind the Bs giving up Seguin for Riley fucking smith and Loui fucking Eriksson.

To be fair, that at least made a lot more sense because the return was higher, and the B's needed wingers a lot more than they needed a scoring center playing on the third line. Eriksson had a little down year during the lockout season, but topped 70 the three seasons before and was known for his defensive responsibility as well. Reilly Smith was a pretty decent prospect, and he's panned out well thus far. I forget who the other part was tbh.

You can definitely make a case that Seguin would have been more valuable to the franchise than Krejic (Seguin would be his replacement, def not Bergeron's). However, I think it's also reasonable to question of Seguin would ever put up those numbers in Boston, even as a 1C, just because the style they play is very different than Dallas (esp now since they're so unexpectedly bad this year that they just let him do whatever)

The Forsberg trade just made zero sense. Washington's #1 issue for the past several years has been the lack of a good 2C and any kind of reliable secondary scoring. Was had Ribeiro on the team that year, and he was good. But he was also a 32 year old coke fiend. You'd have to be stupid to think he was the long term answer there.

That trade was just pants on head stupid. Flipping a high potential C when your organization lacks good Cs beyond Backstrom for an aging winger who never topped 60pts. So dumb

I think the reason Boston traded Seguin was related to off the ice stuff rather than his performance on the ice.
I agree that in hindsight the deal looks terribad but if having Seguin around was detrimental to the team I understand why they shipped him to Dallas. On top of that, you never know, if he stayed in Boston and kept screwing around he might have never reached his full potential.

You also gotta remind that Seguin was a freebie coming from the Kessel deal. They traded him in order to get spare parts to make another run at the cup, which didnt pan out.
Its like back in the days when Dallas traded Iginla to Calgary for Nieuwendyk. If they had never won that cup it would be regarded as a terrible deal but since they won it all, people forget about it.

For christmas, my parents teamed up with my girlfriend's parents to get us two tickets to a Rangers home game the day after my birthday in March. I'm a big Rangers fan, but have never been to an NHL game, and NYC is only a two hour bus trip away. My girlfriend doesn't know much at all about hockey, but still, I am unbelievably excited GAHHHHH

THat may or may not have been part of the issue too, but there was definitely more of an organizational need for wingers than centers at that time.

Honestly, if Loui Erikkson played more like the player he was the past 5 or so years, it's close to an even trade. He got big time hampered by injuries. If he were a 60-70 pt player again, then you have him and Reilly Smith, who has been good too.

They could have, but at the expense of a proven commodity like a Krejic or Lucic, etc.

Just saw this elsewhere. Draisaitl is getting some insanely soft minutes and not doing much.

Imagine if the Oil had a real 3rd line center who could do something with those cupcake minutes, or at the very least, make it so The Nudge + friends don't have to face off against the top line every single time.

So this mumps thing is really getting crazy now. It probably spread to the AHL. The Rangers have quarantined Stepniak and their A coach. The Penguins are probably going to lose MAF, Shithead Bortuzzo, and Olli Matta.

At the ripe age of 20, Olli Matta will have had thyroid cancer and the fucking mumps just months apart.

Pretty much the entirety of the Wild's defense has been hit by the mumps this year, and now some kind of stomach virus has hit several players and both goalies.
A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this World: he that has these two, has little more to wish for; and he that wants either of them, will be little the better for anything else.

That team is cursed man. How many years in a row have they had crazy things sideline players for months at a time?
