Was had Ribeiro on the team that year, and he was good. But he was also a 32 year old coke fiend. You'd have to be stupid to think he was the long term answer there.

That trade was just pants on head stupid. Flipping a high potential C when your organization lacks good Cs beyond Backstrom for an aging winger who never topped 60pts. So dumb

I think the reason Boston traded Seguin was related to off the ice stuff rather than his performance on the ice.
I agree that in hindsight the deal looks terribad but if having Seguin around was detrimental to the team I understand why they shipped him to Dallas. On top of that, you never know, if he stayed in Boston and kept screwing around he might have never reached his full potential.

You also gotta remind that Seguin was a freebie coming from the Kessel deal. They traded him in order to get spare parts to make another run at the cup, which didnt pan out.
Its like back in the days when Dallas traded Iginla to Calgary for Nieuwendyk. If they had never won that cup it would be regarded as a terrible deal but since they won it all, people forget about it.

For christmas, my parents teamed up with my girlfriend's parents to get us two tickets to a Rangers home game the day after my birthday in March. I'm a big Rangers fan, but have never been to an NHL game, and NYC is only a two hour bus trip away. My girlfriend doesn't know much at all about hockey, but still, I am unbelievably excited GAHHHHH

THat may or may not have been part of the issue too, but there was definitely more of an organizational need for wingers than centers at that time.

Honestly, if Loui Erikkson played more like the player he was the past 5 or so years, it's close to an even trade. He got big time hampered by injuries. If he were a 60-70 pt player again, then you have him and Reilly Smith, who has been good too.

They could have, but at the expense of a proven commodity like a Krejic or Lucic, etc.

So this mumps thing is really getting crazy now. It probably spread to the AHL. The Rangers have quarantined Stepniak and their A coach. The Penguins are probably going to lose MAF, Shithead Bortuzzo, and Olli Matta.

At the ripe age of 20, Olli Matta will have had thyroid cancer and the fucking mumps just months apart.

Pretty much the entirety of the Wild's defense has been hit by the mumps this year, and now some kind of stomach virus has hit several players and both goalies.
