Oh, and EPLs wealth comes from Russia, USA and United Arab Emirates, lol.
English is the global language, that's the PL's biggest advantage. The Spanish, Italian and German football cultures aren't worse in any way. People tend to underestimate the power of language.
Spanish is a global language as well and they're still not close to the BPL.
Spanish is not that universal as English but either way the most watched match every year is the clasico.

OIf course the team can clearly play much better, but this really has to be a mentallity thing - for years and years, as soon as they play an international team with a big name, they just let themselves get destroyed. And it is not only because the other team is a bit better, they just stand by and watch the other team play football, they don't fight back. The game vs ManU demonstrated why this team is not going to win anything (besides maybe a German Cup once in a while). It sounds so clichée but they simply don't have a winning mentallity. I don't even know why I should root for them to get to the Ro16 - they would just get destroyed anyway.
My consolation is that I think they are more like the forth best team in Germany. Dortmund is clearly better and I think even Schalke would be much better - but they have to deal with lots of injuries, a not very good coach and an even worse front office (I still cannot comprehend why they fired Stevens). But if everyone was healthy, the team would be very strong regardless.
Anyway, yesterday's performance is just inexcusable and I haven't felt so strongly about a football game in forever. This game really puts the Bundesliga in a bad light. I hope they feel the shame. There is a very real possibility that only one german team makes it through to the Ro16... hopefully Dortmund won't let that happen, but I don't have much trust in the other two teams anymore. Basel just looks stronger than Schalke and Leverkusen winning in Spain... I don't think that is going to happen.
Leverkusen's defending was just...I can't even think of a word to properly describe it. Even from the opening kickoff they laid down and let United boss them around like a second division side would.

That's true but Spanish is spoken on a whole continent (except Brazil) which is as football crazy as Europe. I'm sure English being a universal language is an advantage but I don't see it as more than that.

In the 90s Serie A was considered the most popular and important league, and italian has few speakers.
True, I actually remember reading that at the start of the EPL the most watched game was 2 million people world wide, while the most watched Serie A game was 2 million people in the UK alone. The serie A has really fallen over the years.

Language is an advantage. It's not the dealbreaker. The dealbreaker is the absurd amount of money that moves through the English league.

Is the insane amount of money in the PL a cause or an effect? If it's a cause, then what caused it in the first place? Was it Abramovic's acquisition of Chelsea?

i really dislike tottenham :<
It could be worse...at least they weren't run off the pitch by 10 man Real Madrid in a must-win game. That would just be embarrassing.
Nothing is worse than spending 100 million and still having hard time against low level teams.
im not even talking about 6-0 because its just embarrassing.
Who spent 100 million? Spurs made a profit in the transfer window. They have had no transfer budget for 3 years and have to sell in order to buy. Don't talk about things you don't understand.
