Chelsea have had a lot of favourable calls especially at home, I would say we are probably in the top 5 of 'favoured' clubs. Not as bad as Man U though. I also am still unsure about Torres, but optimistic that he can make this season at least a 15 goal season if not more.
By the way, the fact that Levy could only get 24 mill for Modric is unbelievably pathetic. He could have gotten twice that selling to Chelsea. What a moron.
1) It wasn't 24, it was 27 + 6 in add-ons, and you can expect most performance-based add-ons to be met since he plays on a superteam.
2) The whole "Chelsea offered 40 million last year!" argument is utter bullshit. Their final offer was 30 mill + Alex, whom they rated at 10. There's no way in hell Alex would have agreed to personal terms with Spurs, because it'd mean a colossal pay cut. Don't forget, QPR tried to grab him in the January transfer window but couldn't offer near enough wages. Alex is now playing for PSG where you can be sure he's well compensated.
3) Selling him to another premiership team would be stupid.
Well, he's still a cock and a moron...but if this is true (ps source?) this sale makes more sense.

Like every other year? Last year they failed miserably ;P
I said every other year. Six years ago they started the trend with the tremble, then they failed at semis, four years ago they won it all, then stopped in semis, 3 seasons ago they won it all again, last year stopped in semis, you know what's coming next! And it's not about physical game, that's what mou tried to do for the past decade and beat them like, 3 times. You can't kick Messi and Iniesta to the ground, it's impossible. All you can do is pray they'll be in a rough night or that they'll hit the post.
Oh I see what you mean. Haha I guess there is a pattern xD.
Seriously though I think this is an easy way to beat Barcelona: 8 defenders (2 fast, 4 medium paced, 2 strong), staying inside the box, one of those defenders must be able to throw the ball 30-40 yards. One sick keeper. One guy who can pass long. One very fast attacker. Get him down the wing, and then get him to hit the ball AS HARD as he can against their defender when he's near the byline. Throw in or corner. Laugh at Barca's lack of height in defence and score a goal. Lol your way to a 1-0 or 2-1 victory. Mou has been getting physical but not in the right way imo. I think it's a waste to challenge barca for the ball in midfield with their lame triangles. Just let them do their moronic pass-around-the-middle-for-no-good-reason-other-than-tire-the-opposition-out-chasing-for-it, wait for them to come into the final third (after five minutes), only let them take distance shots and block their runs by standing in their way. Barca just has a really good team to beat the current style of other teams, but there is no way it is the only way to play, and it could be beaten with the right team setup.
I really don't think that chasing Barca down in the midfield, which is what Mourinho does, is a sensible policy.
Of course my anti barca team would suck against everyone else

thanks,I think i said this before but to me the first few weeks is more of a lottery, To my mind there are literally 0 ways to accurately be able to establish how players are going to get you points without having atleast a month of football to look at.
there's a decent way to pick players for gameweeks/just in general with limited info
1) opponents' level (are they versing QPR or Man City) 2) home or away? 3) future games and combinations of 1/2 (for longterm trade players) 4) watch first few games, see who gets the majority of chances at goals/passes regardless of result. they are bound to score eventually (unless they just suck which you can tell right away). especially defenders (6 points for goal, 3points for assists is sweet on top of an opportunity for clean sheets). these were the reasons why i traded for michu, dyer, assou-ekotto, vermaelen, and adebayor this week. all produced results cept adefailyor(gamble cuz he was assumed to become main scoring option but didnt see him playing in games). 5) tend to pick guys who are the main options. (ie. Tevez on MC because aguero is out, VanPersie on old arsenal, etc) 6) spend low on defenders, spend very high on midfielders, mid-high on forwards. cheap defenders on good defending teams can get you 6points off cleansheets and thats more than good enough (last year newcastle + this year's swansea/everton). great midfielders are key as they give you 5points for goals and rack alot of assists. get the midfielders who score a decent amount and get the ball alot. for forwards just get 1 elite scorer if you can (9points and above) and whatever else you can afford. 4points per goal is just not that much and forwards don't get too much assists. the elite scorer should get you a lot of goals to make up for the lack of points per goals.
this has worked pretty well for me and have been generally successful, especially with trading. last year I finished first and I believe my total team value was something like 102 because I got alot of points off trades (decreases overall team value the more you trade) and 2nd place had something like a value of 106.
im not really experienced with fantasy but this basic trading strategy has worked for me so far so just wanted to share what i know!
Thats all pretty standard but going into a season thats still no gaurantee. That method can mean anything between 30 and 90 points on any day in the first few weeks. Theres no substitute for being able to see them play. Thats why I said early on is a lottery, not later.
well yeah, there's no guarantee in any stage of the season. but its not as much of a lottery as you say it is. the beginning fo the season is actually all taking calculated risks imo rather than lottery. pick those with lowest risk and highest rewards as possible. later on is when you pick for value and/or consistency
Everyone is risk averse, in fantasy. I dont even support any team so theres literally no bias there and I still feel every season when I pick the first team before the start of the season its a whole new ball game and I dont know shit. Its educated guesses at best and the start of the season is a real pointfest. It tends to plateau after the first month or so and thats where you start picking for real, but by then if you've got the right picks just based on hmm this guy "usually" does well then its just a really good guess. Hence. Lottery.
Ofcourse at the end of it its still luck, but calling a hand blind is significantly less likely to win you something than calling it pre flop if you get my drift ?

Source for what? Here is the deal they turned down from Chelsea, and you can find the details of the Madrid transfer anywhere.

I genuinely can't find a definitive and exact breakdown of the deal.
Wow, watching At Madrid v Athletic, such a gorgeous performance from Falcao, what a player. Wish we signed him.

Fucking Falcao >.< Guys in form, Chelsea vs Atletico Madrid going to be a good game i think. Im very much looking forward to the Friday spectacle, last time Chelsea played in the Super Cup was when Zola was playing, came off the bench and scored an amazing freekick for us to win <3 ahh the crazy crazy times.
Lol Liverpool going in for Daniel Sturridge, Chelsea want £25million for him. Well, if you want him and will pay that much...take him, take him.

And La Liga teams have already learned how to counter their tiki taka, zero physicality, zero crossing/ heading ability. I'm confident that if European teams just copy that then Barcelona will look a lot less invincible.
Imho the biggest problem Barca had last season was not being "countered" but much more so the failure in actually converting their opportunities into goals (most prominently of course that certain penalty by Messi..). Even in the games vs. Chelsea they had enough good chances to score. With a Villa up to his game this could/should very well change.

passing the ball 5 yards 1 million times before you decide to shoot isn't good football, it may look impressive on your fucking huge cheat pitch but there is a reason a sub-par Chelsea side done you last season
Hazard is really looking like he and his agent were right about his value. I'm so insanely glad he chose Chelsea. If he stays fit he'll be such an asset for the team, he really links the offence and defence up nicely. I also want to see Oscar playing, I think he could be just as useful. Also, Moses. Holy shit there's a lot of quality xD

I'm still not convinced by Oscar...What have Chelsea brought him in for? As a CM he didn't look that good even in the Brazil Squad and I rate Mereilles - Ramires - Mikel partnership over Oscar - X - X chelsea midfielder...
