ManU collapsed last season, and I don't think RVP was the big name they needed. You could Say we Collapsed in the 6-1 match and lost our Composure.. But Comeon , We had our Best Defender play 6 matches over the whole of last season and had 10+ players injured at one point of the Season while city barely had any Injuries..Still we lost to them by Goal Difference in the Tightest of Finishes to a Premier League Season.. Yea thats whyno matter how bad they look United are always in the conversation because they are a great league team. They know how to get bread and butter results. Thats literally what kept them in it.
I have to agree as much as City managed to lose the plot at the end if United wouldve won, it wouldve been champions akin to the previous year where most of the would be champions mostly just fell away and United just remained consistent. They didnt look particularly beastly in the 09-10 season to me either. Yes they made the CL final and all and it was a pretty good season where they wont the league but many weeks I felt like it was just other contendors dropping points they really shouldnt and United grinding out results while playing poorly that got the job done.
Which is fine, its a fantastic and enviable quality to have. But last year City winning (albiet by a hair) as an overall better team for the season was a nice change. Simialr to Ancelotti's Chelsea, they were pretty beastly to and scored goals for fun.

People seem to be forgetting that at the start of the season last season Man U looked positively ferocious and were banging in ridiculous results...I just don't think it ever works to doubt Fergie too much...looks like a weird choice to bring in RVP but I don't think anyone who follows football would be surprised if Man U pulled off something special this season. Also is there a possibility Fergie picked up RVP partly to spite Man City?!

Bayern München apparently sign Javier Martinéz from Athletic Bilbao for 40 million €. The player is said to pay 10 million himself (by getting less loan).
Not sure if I like that. That is a crazy amount of money for a (at least to me) completely unknown defensive midfield player.

Well hes prob one of the best on current form in the world. Maybe unknown in Germany but pretty highly rated. Still the money is absurd, but thats what you get when you buy guys with long term contracts.

He's young and very solid, and also plays as CB, but is unlucky to have the best midfielders in the world in the same national team so he isn't as known worldwide. Overall he's a great player but idk if worth 40m€.

Looks like song will be leaving for barca. Can all our players stop leaving now?

Yup , now Try losing him for a Whole Season and You'll know what I'm talking about http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2012/05/29/manchester-city-top-the-injury-league-with-manchester-united-bottom/
We let go of a 8 point lead...That was the Biggest Collapse... And with the Skint midfield we had last season we were equal on points at the Top of the Table...Wonder what that says about Other Teams in the League now that we have got both Kagawa/Anderson/Cleverly(who was an integral part of our score goals for fun starting 3-4 games).
And I would actually take you up on that Arsenal Call .

It says that they bend over for united =) Except newcastle apparently. The amount of games where united is outplayed but the opponent fluff chance after chance.
But Im bias, so don't worry about countering my opinion with defence/etc.

Weird statistic how top 6 teams are bottom 4 and top 2.

Maybe "collapsed" is too much for what happened in EPL, but if you add what happened in CL, I think it fits. In my opinion, ManU needs to find a proper replacement for the role Scholes had in the team. Kagawa looks promising, but I think he is too offensive minded to really take Scholes role.

United and City were both done with the CL, CC, Europa early and could focus on the league. Its inexcusable how both of them both almost fluffed it.

Excatly, even Chelsea did better in the cups after there worst season since 2005 when Abramovich came in. With the sizes of the Man City and United squad there is no question without being in the Champs League and Carling Cup and FA Cup that they had no reason not go on a 12 game win streak from Feb > May but they still didn't making the likes of Sunderland going 3-1 up vs City @ City, Man Utd going 3-0 down to Chelsea etcetc.
There is probably only one team that achieved something last year in the Prem, that was Newcastle, every other team had a piss poor season in league form, and it has happend for the last 2 seasons now. The league used to be about the top 4 and a huge gap to 5th place, because the top 4 actually could defend and score goals, and it used to turn into a mini league, which as a Chelsea fan i had no problem with as it was good imo, back in the times when the last 4 of the champions league was 3 english teams and Barcelona. Now it's Chelsea drawing to Wigan, Arsenal losing to Wigan, Man Utd losing to Wigan, and Man City fucking everything up xD
I hope this season the top 4 actually spread themselves from the pack again and don't lose silly games, and actually start defending and not conceding all the time. The amount of goals scored last season was absurb compared to the days of Mourinho being in the league.
