But guess what, as you get older the injuries get worst and take even longer to recover from, look at Lampard as prime example, had the record for most starts in a row in the premier league until Brad Friedal (keeper) beat him, he gets a standard muscle tear injury in his leg and he was out for 6 months...killed our season (last one under Ancelotti) it's going to happen to RVP a man who already has had injury problems. I say he has 1 good season left in him before he hits 30 and will go down hill fast. Chelsea worst buisness? Signing a 30 year old Shevchenko for 30million, was a waste of money, worst bit of buisness we have done due to the fact he didnt have enough time to make his mark, all be it RVP has this and know the prem inside and out, with the pace and strength the premier league requires i can't see him lasting past 31 for united, specially with Fergie being the king of moving people on (even more so than Wenger who thinks 28 is to old >.<) Worst transfer i have seen Fergie make yes, in terms of money. Fergie sold Stam and Becks in their prime, he will always say for good reasons. He bought Rio for 30million at a young age and got so much out of him, bought Vidic etcetc. He then buys a 29 year old for 24million? Whilst having 3 young strikers? Rooney Welbeck and Hernandez. I don't understand it, he should of bought a nice youngster to keep it fresh so he can rotate Welbeck Hernandez with Rooney through out the season and use the youngster to get his feet into the english league etc. You think Welbeck and Hernandez are going to like sitting on the bench again this season? People like to play, specially Hernandez and Welbeck who have international futures to consider! Tbh, of all the clubs he couldve gone to United probably makes the most sense practically for RVP since he wants to leave. He slots right in, Arsenal get some decent money for a player out of contract in a season that wants to leave. Juve was probably the only better fit but no one really wants to go to Italy anymore. Would Arsenal rather keep their best player and have him extend ? Well obviously, but it was clear that was never going to happen. A year on isnt going to convince him, because lets be realistic the chances of Arsenal performing well enough to win something with an unhappy RVP (as professional as he might be) are pretty slim. Anyway should be some interesting memes and hate threads going around that should be pretty amusing. I don't understand how you think this is "probably the best club for him"? Maybe for him personally in terms of financial situation? But how does going to Man Utd with 3 other strikers younger than you going to be a good move for anyone but RVP? Fergie prides himself on good transfer dealing hense they left the Lucas Moura deal alone, i don't think this is the right move. I think he should of went to Juventus or another Italian team or even Spain, due to be able playing longer and with less physical strain in those countries. And i think if i was him i would of stayed one more year due to fact he was club captain, guranteed his place in the team and they signed some good players for once! Santa, Podolski and Giroud, pretty good players imo Podolski knows how to score, Giroud shows potential and to go with Walcott and Ox on the wings they signed Santa, and if they add one or two more still i think Arsenal will look good (if they had kept RVP ofc) he was the last player they could not cope without and he has left. Losing Fab was big, losing RVP has left a huge freeking hole now. But i think with RVP they could of been dangerous.

IF he manages to stay Fit..... IF he fits into our System with Hernandez , Rooney and Welbeck (we had Cole , Yorke , Solskjaer and Sheringham playing as the 4 strikers in our "TREBLE" season) What is not an IF is the Fact that we have signed one of the best Strikers in the World..Yes his age is a bit of a problem but IF we can get a good 3 years out of him nobody is going to give a fuck about how much this Transfer cost us...

Also RVP gives us cover if Rooney is injured or otherwise not able to play. Neither Welbeck nor Hernandez is anywhere near that level. RVP is. If we are going to play a lot of 442, which is a tactical disadvantage against 3 man midfields (to say nothing of 3 man back lines, which are practically the hard counter to 2 man striker formations), then those 2 strikers had better both be absolutely world class. Rooney and RVP together is the only 2 man front United can play against a top opponent that I feel good about.

Both Hernandez and welbeck are young and thy will benefit from the experience van Persie brings. Besides Hernandez scored 10 and welbeck 9 goals so a striker who scores as much as van Persie is a nice addition to the team. Personally I wouldnt have bought him if I were ferguson but to already label him his worst buy is way too soon and I'm sure he'll proof himself and make himself useful to united.

Look Im sure everyone was mildly interested but frankly RVP is a starter, you dont spend 20 million on a 29 year old so you can have him fighting for spots against other proven world class players which would be the case in a Man City, Madrid or Barca. For his price none of those teams need him. United obviously felt that after last year with the injuries to their strikers and general underperformance from Welbeck later on in the season that it was a buy they could afford to make. It might not turn out great, that possibility is never discounted. But based on how its been going the last year I'd say the signs are significantly leaning toward the positive side of things. Its not just about how many goals hes scored, anyone who watches him play admits that he is a world class striker. And unless hes going to a team to replace world class strikers which at the moment Chico and Welbeck are not I dont see how anyone can have complaints against the transfer from a "this makes sense" angle. The only reasons this could be a bad buy is age, and thats not so bad maybe because RVP is the kind of striker if injury free will age well. He doesnt rely to much on athleticism or pace, so he has some really good years left in him. That or the fact that "OMG they sold their captain to Man U of all places" which is really only going to come from Arsenal supporters. Neither one of which makes this a bad business deal for either team. Player wants to leave, will leave for free next year sell him ! I reiterated time and time again that there was absolutely no reason to keep a player for a year if hes going for 20+ with a year on the contract left. Thats a pretty good price to sell him at. United apparantly could afford it and while they probably werent desperate this greatly increases the chances the team will compete steadily for a league and other titles. That is worth the money imo.

Quite a few of the recent Man U purchases have proven to not be that great imo, I wonder how this one will turn out. And will Wenger be allowed to spend the money or will it be snuffled away by the hungry powers that be at Arsenal?

good move by Arsenal, Wenger is a shrewd motherfucker and knows that Arsenal can't compete with the moneyed teams so he has to be smart in the market place

Gogo examples, i gave examples of Lampard, i can also add Gerrard to this too. He was injured with a simple leg muscle injury and was out of action for AGES last season thus Liverpool did worst than they normally do.
