He walked in as I was doing some warm up lifts and just instantly loads 135. So I'm like damn he's skinny but so am I so maybe he's got it in him. Gets under it and I'm just watching him (I've had to be a hero before if anyone remembers, though anyone who dies under 135 is probably liable to get broken by a strong gust of wind) as he lifts it off and sits there with arms fully extended. Like 10 seconds go by and I'm silently willing him to just set it back, but he's a stubborn bugger and goes for it. Just about all of us have lifted a weight that was just too heavy, I'm sure, so just about everyone knows that wobbly arm feeling as the weight is coming down and you're screaming in your head, "STABILIZE!!! STABILIIIIIZE!" (Maybe just me? That's what I'm usually doing on the rare occasion it's happened) Anyways, he gets it down about half way and brings it back up. Lesson learned. Just set it back. NOPE! ROUND 2! FIGHT!!! Starts bringing it down and it stalls halfway down and his arms are starting to make weird row motions. I'm about to just walk over and lift it off him, but he lifts it back up, sets it back and sits up with this far off look in his eyes. He got up and just left the gym lol. I really wish I would have walked up to him and asked if he needed help, but I didn't want to be that guy. Looking back, I should have been that guy. No one likes being annoyed by that guy, but if I genuinely was lost and needed help I'd probably take the small moment of embarrassment for learning some stuff. I need a lifting partner, too T_T Edit: Kid was probably a freshmen or sophomore... not an actual kid lol

and typically "pull" refers to deadlift, unless someone's an oly lifter, and only decaf is capable of cleaning 3plates here. As far as the question, it really depends on your bodyweight and height, and how long you've been lifting.

OT: What kind of gyms do you guys go to? I go to anytime fitness 24hr It's pretty commercial, 1 or 2 cages. No squat racks. I feel like these guys are really close to giving me the boot. I make a lot of noise when i DL. The trainers always came out of the office to eyeball me a bit. I haven't been approached yet though =P

And having just finished my last 2 exams today really wanna go for those 3 plates as a bit of a milestone. Did my first 3 plate Deadlift at about four months in. I don't know if I'm built for deadlift or what but I did (accidentally) do a really deadlift heavy routine for a while. That's just 1RM which I guess you're asking about. I'm 130lb (60kg) btw.

I weighted 170 when I got 3 plate deadlift 1x5. That's also when I screwed up my SI joint though.

The mixed grip is because it's an axle instead of an oly bar. It's too big to grip normally with a heavy weight, and the bar doesn't have any spin, so you can't do a normal clean with it. Instead, you do a continental clean, which is what you see in the video (although they're all pretty new/bad at it). It's a legitimate strongman lift.

Not perfect form, but still. ![]() "Not perfect form" sounds like you think those girls are reading this and you want to get in their pants. To be fair, I doubt it's their fault the form is shit, they were probably taught way wrong, since people were encouraging that shit. But even then, you should be commenting on the horrible instructors, not calling it "not perfect form".
