It's at a point where I feel fatigued doing my warm-up sets. For example, even though my work set today was 215, I felt tired doing 5 reps of 135. By the last work set, my lower back was giving out and I was doing a little bow at the bottom of my squat every time lol The thing is, I manage to squeeze out the reps somehow every time for the last week or two but I don't feel very good having a tight & sore lower back all the time. Should I switch to 3x5 or maybe skip squats on DL days? I feel like my body will snap back at me if I keep this up.
generally speaking, soreness is okay, but not pain.
however, if you genuinely feel that you are being overworked (I've never done SL, only SS), then consider switching to SS, at least give it a try on one of the work outs (so just cut from 5 sets to 3)
if you are still making linear gains on squats, then I wouldn't take away the squats on one of the days. if anything, try 70% or front squats. this adjustment is typically adopted by intermediate lifters as they can no longer make linear progress.
Now that I think about it, even though I had 2 rest days, I only got 5-6 hours of sleep on Wed and Thurs nights so that probably didn't help my recovery.
Making linear gains feels awesome and I don't want to do anything to stall faster, although I really have to work for every rep now. The weights feel intimidating and I really have to go into rage mode before every set to get through it. What would be considered an intermediate squat weight for someone who's 5'11 and 170lbs? According to this chart, I'm already pretty close to their intermediate weight.
Would eating junk food be better than eating nothing? Currently at about 2.5k cals today + maybe 100ml of jack daniels. My current options are: dark chocolate, walnuts, and milk (optional whey). Oh and korean instant noodles. Yummy edit: settled for 2 bananas and 1.5 cup of choco milk
Leangains is going good so far. Lost 3kg in the last 4 weeks and my lifts are still keeping up or even slowly progressing. After a few more weeks I'm probably at my goal bodyfat % so I'm gonna try leangains for a bulk then. It's really nice to only have to bother with 3 meals during the day and you don't have to think about your food much compared to eating 5-6 meals.
2.5kcal is really low if you wanna gain weight, i don't weigh much more but eat up to 3500kcal a day. And yes, if gaining weight is the goal, junk food is better than no food at all. If those korean instant noodles are like those ramen things from japan skip em, way too few calories. Other stuff you list is good and not exactly junk food.
Hi guys, just looking for a little feedback. Currently, I'm 5' 5", 145lbs with a 285lbs squat, 305lbs deadlift, and 195lbs bench. I want to hit 315 lbs squat, 365 lbs deadlift, and 225 bench, hopefully within the next couple months. Any suggestions on workout routines? I have never done SS before, although I have done some 5x5.

imo, junk food is better than nothing. If you don't get enough calories, there's no way in hell you can make steady progress.
i'm actually not eating nearly enough myself, and my numbers have stalled significantly >.<
also, don't worry about the beginner/intermediate crap. if you can still make reasonable gains every session, stick with what you are doing.
both SL5x5 and SS are considered to be beginner programs, but I think you can try switching to SS once you find SL too taxing on your body (which seems to be happening presently). Once you start to stall on your lifts even after resets, look into the intermediate programs.
I'm presently doing the Bill Star program, which is an intermediate program after SL5x5.

Starting Strength is for beginners, and you are well past that! Pick up Practical Programming for Weightlifting by Mark Rippetoe. Otherwise, I think other people on here pick up various programs such as Conan-Philipi, Smolov, ect.

If you're gonna junk it out chocolate is expensive but better than most things (if you get the unrefined dark choco with not much sweeteners added that is).
I recently began foam rolling myself because I no longer get free massages , the 1st session was painful, but I think the rollers at my gym are too soft, since I no longer feel anything after three sessions.
So now, I'm sitting at home rolling myself with a bottle of wine, oh the pain!!! The wine is actually perfect to dull the pain...
Fuck this, i need to get my shit together and start being consistent when it comes to drinking milk. Right now im drinking anything from 1½ litres a day to 3 litres a day, need to get minimum 3 litres a day if i want to gain some weight.
So guys, i find yoga would be a great thing to try, how to get started, can i do it alone..recommend videos. I think the topic is too wide to trust google search.
I would like to do it every day about 15 mins at the evenings/mornings. Maybe mornings are better.
