piece of advice - don't get too attached to your souls
It is entirely possible (and people do it frequently) to beat the game without leveling up once. Losing souls isn't the end of the world by any means. Especially considering that before you know it, you'll be getting 1500 souls easily for creatures killed.
edit: also, you WILL die a lot (more than you already have) - so get over it
I once beat this bigass alligator dragon thing and got 20,000 souls, there was no bonfire ANYWHERE close though and I just stumbled into blighttown and lost all my souls. I had to run all the way through the depths and got Cursed and died. I lost 20,000 souls and had to spend three hours finding out how to get un-cursed (looking shit up is no bueno). I also spent three hours finding out how to remove that fucking head-parasite thing in the Bed of Chaos since it was stealing all my fucking souls. At least 1000 centipedes were slain.
I'm trying to avoid guides as much as possible, but shit like that makes it seem near impossible haha.
I had my friends watching when I first started. They helped me with some of the controls and menus and stuff (which was a godsend, it would have taken so much longer for me to figure shit out), but they happily sat there watching me struggle. Every once in a while they give me random pointers (Blow darters don't respawn in blighttown, so if they give you problems, hunt them down once and never worry about them again), but I generally like the struggle and learning curve as well.
I don't mind the difficulty, but the vagueness about a lot of the mechanics is kind of annoying. Like I have no idea how Humanity works. I know I could look it up but that feels like cheating. Good news I finally got to another bonfire. That first part of Undead Berg was getting really momentous haha. I'm pretty sure I'm having fun at least.
Wait, so you got to the next bonfire? Which one? Because those bonfires are super far apart there.
Also what's your class/power?
The one after the bridge. I got poisoned by rats and got killed by a knight before finding it the first time lol.

I was just gonna play LoL or Dark Souls and drink but that sounds pretty good too. Although I like spacing it out a little bit. Probably gonna watch an episode or two at least.
So same thing you do every night, Brain?
Every day is single's awareness day for some people.

I think the great part about reading about others' attempts through the game is that I remember precisely where you are and my own tribulations getting through those parts. It's like, mutual schadenfreude lol

Holy shit dude I remember being nearly out of Estus and almost dead, really needing a bonfire, and about to die of poison, so I was desperately running up that tower after the rats praying to god there would be a bonfire. I didn't even see the black knight, he just one-shot me. RIP my dreams.

Yeah, talking about the game experience is almost more fun than the game itself.
Don't know if there's any Demon Hunter fans here, but the new single just dropped yesterday. I don't particularly like this style of MV, but the song is pretty solid. I mean, it's no Tomorrow Never Comes or One Thousand Apologies, but I'm really digging it.
Guys, Req stressed out enough without worrying about entertaining a crowd who will divulge all the lewd details to TL... be less overt about it and just spy on him instead.

I shall check it out. I've tried to get into them a few times over the years but it usually just don't jive with me or whatever. Lately I've been into Memphis May Fire, this song's chorus gets stuck in your head: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPLLXQDNoFI
I always wished I had singing voice that could do growling like that. Grew up listening to stuff like Arch Enemy, but I didn't have the patience to try and train my throat to do it.

It's probably one of the more amusing things to watch someone attempt. Not that I can do it. It's a talent for sure.

It takes a lot of practice. I can do it, but only for a fairly limited time before my throat is super raw.
edit: thanks for those links - didn't realize I was in a metal mood

These songs aren't bad I shall explore them further.
In a similar vein I've been digging We Came as Romans as a recent discovery.
Cheep, since your a literature kinda guy you may find mewithoutYou interesting... a lot of their stuff is kinda metaphysical poetry-ish. The sound can be rather polarizing, you may hate it lol.
