Rogue loved playing using Muta a lot recently/

His aggressive multitasking in general is amazing. I'd be curious to see a `seconds of consecutive motion' on his mutas. Felt like they didn't sit still once for whole minutes of that game.

LingbaneMuta is one of the most frustrating to watch as Terran, like those Muta never die unless they are forced to fight head-on, and when they reach critical mass, Turret or Thor is meaningless.

Then he destroyed Maru quite unexpectedly in his GSL finals using mostly roach floods and muta ling bane in the last game. Since then, his ZvT has been very reliable and very keen on mutas indeed. Sometimes it wasn't enough like vs Maru last year though.

ccfirst at gold, Maru did this vs Solar on this map in some Korean tournament

Ryung, I love you and even if you lose you won't have a thing to regret in this series

They don't usually win, though, so it's pretty much irrelevant to the question of whether Protoss is underpowered at the highest level. Just like the predominance of Protoss in GM is irrelevant. I don't even think it's that complex of a problem. There are just phases of the game where Protoss is very fragile bc their ability to survive depends on a few relatively clunky and hard-to-micro units like Colossus, Immortal, Carrier, HT, Disruptor. So even the top players end up losing games in embarrassing fashion. I think there are probably a lot of factors involved, but I agree that Protoss' reliance on expensive, hard to replace tech units is a big part of it. Weirdly enough, I was pushing that point of view ages ago when Khaydarin Amulet was removed. yeah there's definitely more than that going on (player mindset, player pool in Korea, diminishing strength of all-ins over time, balance of defense vs offense, increase in basic skills across the board), but if you look at the times when the very top Protoss players just lose while looking like idiots, it does seem to usually come down to Zerg/Terran coming in with a big ol' ball of insanely microable, replaceable units and the Protoss trying to wedge their 2 irreplaceable Colossi into exactly the right spot or hit a single disruptor shot or storm.
I don't think reliance on fewer tech units is bad in itself (it's one of the things I like about Protoss), but I do think the balance of tech vs gateway units, how clunky and un-microable a lot of those tech units are, how weak they become when the opponent counters them or micros against them, how easy they are to replace, etc, seems off at the moment and is a big factor contributing to the inability of the very top Protoss to perform at the very top level.

I mean just keep the wall closed, it's not like saving two scvs was worth it... Damn, that was probably doomed in the first place, but if you hold the wall with hellions, you have two orbitals, more scvs... I dunno

Poor Ryung guess the hope was just Rogue not scouting the gold? It was kind of odd that he sent an overlord there so soon but if Maru's been using that build it makes sense.

Yeah, this last build seemed very desperate. Still I'm impressed Ryung made it this far.
