Maru did not get this far by just cheesing. He dominated the hell out of Symbol in macro games and won through his group mostly on Macro games also. His only victory through cheesing was Innovation, and let's be honest here with how greedy Innovation played that series he fucking deserved what he got.
Maru is being totally disregarded in this thread, his level of play is at the highest I've ever seen from the kid. His making it this far was no fluke and it definitely wasn't because he didn't deserve it.
Rain was and is heavily favored for a reason.
I'm not saying he isn't I know that.
But it's one thing to praise Rain's play and another to bash Maru which is what Naruto and others are doing in this thread.
I mean I get people are salty that he beat Innovation, but they can blame Innovation's greediness for that, don't blame Maru for doing what was working.

What you're doing is justifying Innovation's cheese tactics by saying he has a good standard game to fall back on with the implication being that Maru doesn't.
I can guarantee you, if we were watching Innovation vs Rain we'd also be seeing cheese builds from Innovation. Why? Because Rain is too fucking good if you try and just play him straight up, no Terran in their right mind wants to play him the way he's most comfortable if they actually want to beat him.
Supernova didn't, Bomber didn't, Maru isn't and Innovation wouldn't either. it has nothing to do with how good Maru isn't, it has everything to do with how good Rain is.
What the fuck are you talking about. And as said, yes Maru doesn't have an equally good macro game compared to INnoVation in TvP, like it or not, thats how it is and thats what we saw on for example Akilon.
