Widow mines are cheaper and more mobile. Takes more effort to play vs as a zerg.
Still a terrible trade off in many cases. Damage on a countdown, can be triggered by free units, poor range, no siege, fungals are even less risky, etc, etc

It actually gives some merit to the phrase "beautiful Fungal" because Life manages to hit large packs of moving units from far away with the spell and even if its damage is lower it still roots so it leaves the bio units to be slaughtered by angry Ultralisks and Banelings.
Angry Ultras should be a flash minigame in the single player campaign.
I wouldn't be surprised if Creator goes for a 1- or 2-base all-in. Life might expect him to turtle and play greedy in response. Of course, he might also just roach rush and win with that.

Yeah of course there is downsides. But I (and the pros!) think they still are stronger.
This obviously isn't true vs roach/hydra/swarmhost compositions, where tanks are needed.
