Like, I'm sure TeamLiquid would love to have used popular bands like Justice, Swedish House Mafia, and Prodigy for TSL3 break music, but, being aware of the copyright implications, we asked for (obviously far less popular) user-submitted tracks that wouldn't create any liability / DMCA takedown issues for us.
They're not "willing to risk the copyright-related troubles" In Sweden there is an organization called STIM that handles all the copyright-questions related to music. You pay money to them and then you're allowed to broadcast any music.

DreamHack has already answerd this question before when it arose during DreamHack winter 2011. google is your friend....

Indeed. It seems to be more of a byproduct on being placed into two GSL groups with only P and T. I can hardly blame Naniwa for focusing primarily on those two matchups (also considering that there are no Zergs left in the GSL).

About the music, anyone have a set list of all the songs played or perhaps a spotify list?

If so, that's awesome and go DH!! either way, I agree with everyone the music is sweet ^^ No source but I remember during DHW 2011 there was a discussion about it and someone from DH clarified that the music license is a part of the main DH event because It's not just a sc2 tournament but a LAN too, so they can use it for the tournaments. something along those lines Show nested quote +On April 23 2012 01:50 Chenz wrote:On April 23 2012 01:48 Dodgin wrote:On April 23 2012 01:47 JWD wrote: Before you guys heap praise on Dreamhack for its music, realize that what may be going on here (pure speculation on my part, having some idea of how exorbitantly expensive music rights are) is just that DH, unlike other productions, is willing to risk a copyright suit by broadcasting protected (i.e. any good/popular) music on its streams.

Yup, this has been discussed at earlier DH events. Dreamhack is paying stim for the rights (stim.se). yep that's right ty http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=289494¤tpage=5#83
They have the rights, nothing to see here move on etc =)

also speculation on my part, but my guess is DH is actually big enough to get bands permission. even non-esports fans hear about dh. every year on the dot there are a bunch of one shot news stories about the biggest lan in the world. my guess is bands wants their music played there.

i cant believe how well this is tournament is produced and organized and we still get a free 720 stream. Thumbs up DH!

I don't think you can ask for a better recent PvZ record than that... Naniwa was never very solid in PvZ - I remember he got knocked out again and again in Code A by Zergs. He said in his GSL interview that it's a match-up he's not comfortable with, and with all the practice he was doing for Terran and Protoss, I reckon he forgot how to play it. If you judge his PvZ skills based on those games (it was mostly against lucky btw) I can see why someone might hold that opinion. But if you watch games in other tournaments you should realize he made some very uncharacteristic mistakes in several of those gsl games. I'm not saying he's a beast in PvZ but it's certainly not "shitty".

It´s not the best 720p quality I agree - but you might want to look again or get a check on your eyes...

during my studies some friends and I used to make our own parties and we faced this problem. When you hold an event in germany where you play music (GEMA protected music to be correct) you have to pay a certain amount of money per guest for the rights. But only if you aim to make money with this event, which means, if you charge a fee for entry. I dont know how it works in sweden. Internet broadcasts rights might play a role too, but I dont know about this either.
edit: the swedish STIM seems to work similar to the german GEMA
