cos one of the 3 lost to the other 2 in their games. Virus and Fin both beat HuK so why would they tie break?
if fin had beaten virus in the last game, it'd be HuK going through wouldnt it?
Ah, Huk is an unfortunate man.
It's crazy, I thought that he'd be one of the chief beneficiaries of the Protoss resurgence. He hasn't been, not really. It was kind of nice seeing him in Code S as a real threat for awhile.
Congratulations to Fin. Let's call him Fin please. It's time for him and us to let go of the past and let him make his own name in SC2.
The chief beneficiaries have been solid macro Protoss players (and MC). Huk is a gateway all inner with a special penchant for DT's. So the meta game changes has made little difference to him.

theres is a need for tiebreakers in that situation

Yes, he did well today, and deservedly won a code S spot, but we who feel this way should be allowed to feel disappointed without being accused of belittling his skill.
While head-to-head as a tiebreaker is conventient and efficient, I feel it's an open question whether or not it's a good one, statistically speaking.
You are allowed to feel disappointed, but no one cares about your feelings. Just because these people mean nothing to you (a random observer watching from Switzerland who is too lazy to learn about the Korean scene) doesn't mean you're justified in feeling anything. The guy who got first played better than everyone else in the group, and he deserves to advance.
I know a lot about the players and the scene in SC2. I can list off dozens of names, maybe even hundreds. But Virus has no personality to me - he just seems like a mediocre faceless Korean Terran, not near the top of the heap but not bad enough to become infamous like TheBest (although apparently TheBest is really solid now).
Personality in the SC2 community is relative. Most of it is just a combination of exposure and community projection.
I find his reaction pig-headed. Nevermind the fact that most people don't have a personal connection to Virus because he doesn't have a "story"; if this is the case then you really wouldn't care whether he wins or not. But to feel disappointed because he won the group, say that your disappointment has nothing to do with his skill level, then do a badly veiled criticism of his skill level? Any normal person would call you out on that hypocrisy.
Oh, absolutely. I don't know what theBB was on about there. I was just calling you out on telling him off for being "too lazy to learn about the Korean scene".
If it's Hoon or Mushroom that stance is understandable. But Virus...really? That's the entire joke of his career. >_>
Yes, virus for sickest nerd baller! So glad he won that last game! Huk deserves neither the up/down seed or code s. Rightfully, he should be code B. Glad forgg advanced as well. Hopefully, he can make up for his disappointing first code s run.

This is exactly what I was talking about. I would like to be able to post about being disappointed with Virus advancing over Huk, Killer and Lucky, without being called out as someone who
thinks Virus does not deserve it, or
would not let him enjoy it.
I'm also disappointed that you consider my post a 'badly veiled criticism of his skill level,' when I write in cleartext that I feel he deserved to win today. I'm well aware that the 'nameless horde,' as it were, of Korean players are all excellent players that would give almost all foreigners a run for their money.
I watch GSL every time it's on, at work. I feel that should qualify me to have opinions about the scene—opinions that are possibly controversial, but judging from the thread, not overly so—without being labeled 'lazy,' especially when those opinions are about my own feelings toward certain players.
In essence I'm tired of people judging me based on what they think my opinion is, instead of what I actually put in my post.

Yeah I guess all those seasons of him getting to code S and getting deep into the tournament is affirmative action.
And Polt should get kicked out of Code S too cause fuck em he doesn't deserve it either right?
the furthest huk has ever made it was ro16..once..where he went 0-2..and he feel to the up/downs every season he was in code S.
HuK made it to the ro8 before, after beating Nada. Then he lost to MVP 3-0. It was really unlucky, too, since he could have won against anyone else in the ro8, except MVP. If you want to speak shit on the players, at least don't lie.

He lost 3-0 to MVP. Only time he took a map was gsl WC's and that was a 4gate.

what are you talking about? That was GREAT, I have nothing against HuK but that is the sort cuts that this game needs more of. Small things like that just builds the hype and tension and shows how much heart the players commit into this game. You see scenes like that all the time in all big sports.
Also, was happy that Lucky failed to advance - I had a massive facepalm after this 1-base allin on Crossfire (a zerg favoured map) against Huk. Actually, his allin was not surprising since he allins in alot of games.
Huk has had quite a few chances over the last couple to retain Code S and has failed them all. It could even be argued he did not earn his place into Up & Down after falling to Code Nothing. Time to stop fussing, he currently isn't good enough to be in Code S and that has been reflected in his results over the past two seasons.
