Taking his second place money is unfair since he did win his semis. Also, if you start doing this, then next time a player won't be able to play finals, he'll rush probes every game and get his 2nd place money rather than getting 4th place money. Not sure that's what people want.

I don't really have any favorites, save Day9, but he's a caster. Just giving some background on my perspective. I feel: -The decision to say that Stephano placed fourth is immature and shows a lack of judgement; I was excited about ONOG reading about their Barcraft events, but I don't think I'd want to go to one now. -Stephano's actions are less than angelic, but not unreasonable. -It's a shitty situation no matter what, for basically everyone involved. -The "Right to forfeit" should be absolute, and shouldn't require a reason. -That said, viewers can and most certainly should ostracize players who forfeit more than they think they should -And organizers shouldn't invite players who they think are liable to forfeit "too much" For those of you who argue that he should have played them out: What if he had Naniwa worker rushed them? Would you argue he should lose 2nd place? How about if he played, but didn't play well? Would you say we need a judging panel to tell whether the player is "really trying"? And for those of you claiming he needs to man up, fuck you. There can be any number of reasons why he'd be tired. To say that he's not allowed to sleep because you need your e-giggles is beyond low. Best first post ever And welcome btw I hope you will stay long even with all the emo rage going on TL. I swear to god if it wasnt Stephano then im sure it would be something els. Polt forfeited a final the other day becuase he was also in a final in another cup and there was more money to be made. Not a single word was sayd about that. But Stephano wow different matter.

I think in future tournaments will have more specific rules that cover forfeiting matches. If there are specific rules? sure, I guess. My main problem with rules against forfeit is how you define forfeit. If he had joined 4 games with Kas and typed gg at the 5 second mark and left each one, is that still forfeit? Yes, you say. How about naniwa probe rush? Yes? What if he played, but was playing an all-in strategy and lost all 4 games? would you say he was forfeiting then? endy: My understanding of the situation is that he basically told the organizers: "Je suis TIRED. I'm gonna sleep, either reschedule the final or I forfeit", which I feel is plenty warning, even if it is a bit presumptuous/rude/pompous/what-have-you.

Holy shit I know now why Stephano chose to retire after this year. If I was a pro player and had to read stuff like this I would just say screw it. He had played for 12 hours strait it was 4 am in the morning get it? He got every right to forfeit. He asked to play another time they sayd no what should he do. Drone rush for 4 games strait? Sometimes Im really worried about pro players and how they get treated.

Sounds to me like he got a little greedy and tried to go for two back to back tournaments in a row. Stephano could have avoided all this drama by unplugging his internet cable and saying he lose his connection too :D

Polt the other day did the exact same thing and had to forfeit a final to play in another final..

Yeah the problem is that it's still a young industry and forfeits are not that common. So there are no rules yet about the situation. But i'm sure there will be at least a generic rule that allows a tournament director to use his discretion. I can think of a lot of other sports where forfeiting a final match would lead to sanctions. I don't know what the solution will be, but stating (with capslock) that forfeiting is like an universal god given right is just plain wrong.

- It is a tournament on NA server, and the timezones are not in favor for european players, so this was only their right to accept this, when they stepped to this. Kas did well playing very late games for Euro timezone, finishing v Sheth series in around 4-5 am. He was ok about it - so he played and did well. - ONOG guys give players money for games, not only your placement. It is a joke to say - well, i'm fine with my 2nd place, just give me my money, because it's not a 100$ tourney, 2250$ for 1-2 places is a big amount of money, and i understand ONOG being dissapointed, that they could just give money for players with no games being played. Okay, Kas and Stephano were favorites of the whole tourney, so why host the tourney just give them money - is that the right attitude? I think no. I support ONOG with their decision on every level. This was a great event to watch and i'm dissapointed bcoz of all this stephano drama. I'm here not to talk about players behavior, i'm here to watch games.

In the semifinals of Zotac he all-ined aTn.Delphi ... he wrote me and was quiet pissed to find out Polt gave W/O -_-

Over runs do happen but like I said, they got greedy and they couldn't handle it.

It's always better to keep yourself entirely blame-free when this happens and act accordingly to the rules. No-one would have started any drama with ONOG if this had happened, everyone would focus on Stephano. Learn from this, future tournaments.
