Are you serious? Looking at his PvZ, I feel like someone like MC will roll him (yeah I know MC is code B currently). Inori basically screwed over the other toss' chance of winning the tournament IMO.

"Stephano isn't good. He needs to beat Koreans. He did? Oh well that was online. That doesn't mean anything at all. He needs to win a LAN anyway. Oh he did? But...were Koreans there? Really? But not good ones right? Oh MMA, MC, Puma, Lucky, Violet, TheStC, Artist, Inori, Ryung, Boxer, Hero, Sleep, and Select were there...well...fuck you I don't like Stephano I'm not listening anymore lalalalalala."
Congratulations Stephano. Can we quote this and lock the thread. Sums it up nicely. Lets see, of the ones you mentioned, which koreans are the best out of those koreans? MMA, MC, Puma, and Ryung Yes stephano beat all of them in this offline lan event! oh wait...
Guys, we need to get Stephano to 4-0 Polt, MVP, Keen, Huk, Top, MC, July, Genius, Ryung, MMA, Zenio, Nestea, Puzzle, Bomber, Virus, Nada, Hongun, Happy, Killer, asd, Clide, Noblesse, Coca, Alive, Ensnare, Supernova, Losira, Taeja, Leenock, Marineking, Jjakji, Dongraegu, Oz, Gumiho, Sage, sC, Lucky, Curious, Byun, Alicia, JYP, Yugioh, and Ganzi. It needs to be at a lan or it doesn't count, and he can't cheese even if they expand at 15 or it doesn't count, and he needs to play with one hand and blindfolded or it doesn't count.
Otherwise he sucks.

What I want to point out is that the players Stephano beat, weren't some random Korean scrubs who just happened to get "lucky." Even if you don't acknowledge they're Code S level, they did, in fact, take out very good players. Lucky took out MMA. Inori took out MC. STC took out IdrA, White-Ra, and Puma.
Tournaments do have an element of chance, but that's true for any tournament - GSL included.
Puma was taken out by MMA I believe
Oops.

Oh my God can we just wait until this kid hits Korea?
He IS still going to Korea, right?
|
What was the viewership numbers at the end? Also great play by Stephano!
|
Do people actually realize that Stephano beat 4 Korean pros in a row during an "offline" event? That's pretty damn impressive no matter who the Koreans were. gratz Stephano

Congrats Stephano!!
I'm going to be sad that in a year I might no longer be able to see you play, but until then, just keep on slaying nerds (or in this case, Slasher's hair :D).

The players he beat weren't exactly top-tier. He beat a few of them in the online qualifiers but that doesn't mean much especially against a T or P where micro matters so much (I personally watched mkp lose to stephano because of his lack of marine splitting timing, most likely due to lag).
He's good, but don't be so damn quick to jump on the bandwagon. He won a single offline tourney by beating, frankly, mediocre players (as far as KR standards)
Hmmm, the people he beat were pretty top tier. I'm not saying he IS nestea or some code S champion. But please name a foreigner who is better than him, I would like to know who it is. I know your not dissing him, but your comment is downplaying him a bit much tbh. He is a great player with fantastic potential. Also I saw him play some bad games this tournament, he has among he best zvt AND zvp in the foreigner scene and great zvz comparable to dimaga if not better. I can count the amount of zergs in the world that are as good in any matchup as he is in all three on my hands. Speaking of nestea and losira (well I wasn't but w/e) stephano might have better zvt then them (but that is not proven by anything except that zvt is the IM zergs' worst MU).

Stephano may not be quite there yet but let him practice like the others (10 hours/day) and we'll see, we will see...

And now it's time to stop reading this thread. Stephano, who is 18 years old, who started playing this game full-time less than a month ago, just won 30,000 $ by beating several Korean players - and there are people who try to discredit his win? Seriously? What is wrong with you?

But PuMa can take out Stephano but Stephano can take out MMA.
This is where it becomes nearly impossible to figure out a skill level by just beating someone.

I thoroughly enjoyed IPL3 and believe this marks a momentous occasion for foreigners in the tournament scene.
The fan question segment was really awesome!
As for future events, I hope for IGN to make things a little more exciting in between games, maybe add some events or music shows ala GSL? And it was pretty obvious a lot of the people involved were nervous speaking on stage
Congratulations Stephano! Next stop, KOREA

lol yeah..Stephano beat a bunch of crappy Korean players..that beat every other Korean in the IPL qualifiers..lol
he had the confidence to put a smiley face at like the 3 minute mark of the game in what he calls his worst matchup based on a build order advantage he just realized..he has an extremely deep understanding of the game, which is why he's able to do so much with little practice..he's motivated by money, and now that's he's realizing his potential to take big tournaments..and he's only 18

They are random Korean scrubs because they don't have the renown of some of their more well known counter parts. Same bullshit for Bomber and same bullshit for DRG. "I don't know who they are so therefore they're terrible."

Let's do some simple math @ Stephano haters.
Results since September: 1) MMA 2-1 July, MMA 2-0 Nestea, MMA 2-1 Losira 2) Lucky 3-0 MMA 3) Stephano 4-0 Lucky
That means Stephano is worlds ahead of the koreans. Don't even try to argue on this because it's just basic mathematics.

No ones discrediting anyone, they're just arguing with idiots who are saying Stephano > Mvp or whatever the fuck they're saying right now.

They were not top-tier Koreans at all.
