Stephano did fantastic today, stop trying to sell him short. Probably would have shit all over MMA today anyway the way MMA played, lucky 3-0'd his ass ffs.

koolaid may be trolling, but I'd still like to point out that Stephano beat MMA 2-0 in the IPL qualifiers tournament.

Oh the irony considering your last few posts...

i've backed up everything i've written, care to argue or just call me out?

cry about it somewhere else. stop mucking up the thread with your useless whining. no one agrees with you or cares what you have to say when you have such a negative aggressive tone.

you'd rather have posts saying stephano is world's best and MVP can't touch him? take it easy

i don't care what people say about stephano. if someone says he is better than mvp, that's fine, they believe that, that's their opinion.

but if they say he got lucky their opinion is wrong and the people are stupid?

Super sick toruney IPL. It was a blast to watch. I'm in LOVE with free HD and your next to nothing downtime. I seriously just watched 10 hours straight of SC2 on Saturday. Missed Sunday due to work gonna watch the FREE VODS! Love you guys (LO3 was a great addition too), IPL4 will be sick nerd baller all the way.

I'm so glad Stephano came to NA so I could watch him play. The euro's always said he was amazing and I'd never heard of him until the coL/Mill drama. I can see now that he is a player worth fighting for. Gratz Stephano.

Stephano 2-1 KiWiKaKi

Stephano 2-1 Inori
Stephano 3-1 TheStC
Stephano 4-0 Lucky

yeah he only beat MKP, Socke, Revival, Puzzle, MMA and Boxer to get into the tournament...

haters gonna hate.

online means nothing, sorry

Your whining doesn't mean anything either, sorry

Actually it does. Here's Nestea's quote when asked about playing online.

"I don’t think I can do online. I don’t want to give any excuses, but I get really angry at the lag. Because of the lag, I don’t think I want to be in any online tournament in the future. It causes me a lot of stress without a lot of payoff."

Interview was done right after a GSL match. There is a reason that Nestea refuses to participate in online tournaments.

You know that sc2 dosent have LAN mode?... so basicly its always online... fail more please.

By your logic, online events have just as much bearing as lan events. Therefore, DRG can't beat hellions ZvT, MMA has terrible control in TvT and MKP is out of the Kong line. But you see, no one truly believes this because online events in general are not taken seriously. Did you see Bomber pwn MVP in the MLG invitational? Then, did you see how one sided the GSL matches were? Koreans don't play properly on ladder just to hide builds and replays, why would they do so in online tournaments when they can win 50k a month. Remember Destiny beating Bomber? No one cares anymore.

While Stephano did get some luck with the bracket, remember how easy Nestea's GSL Championship run was? Winning a tournament full of players like this is impressive even if they didn't play head to head. Stephano played the best this whole weekend.

The reason he looked bad against aLive was because he went pure ling (which had worked for him on European ladder) he stopped doing it after that serie because of that.

And of course aLive gets owned by Ret. So now what? People are fucking ridiculous.

dude, you can't go around calling for bans because someone has an opinion that differs from your own. Don't get me wrong, I think MvP would probably beat Stephano, but I also think it would be a damn good game considering how Stephano played against MMA. Stop making it seem like Stephano fan boys are trolling. He played exceptionally in this tournament

Go watch MVP's replays. Seriously, none of you guys seem to get it. You're comparing a three time code S champion to somebody who just won his very first major FOREIGN tournament. Everybody seems to think posts like this are intended to discredit Stephano when we're actually just trying to bring a little bit of reality into the situation. Yeah, Stephano is very good but MVP is absolutely next level

Sick tournament

"Take notes MLG" is going to stick with me I think =)

Production quality is soo much better than anything we've seen, but the most important thing:

The friggin flow of the games man... Holy shit, 10 minutes after 1 series ended, the next one was counting down and ready on the stream

That's so baller... In my mind, IPL3 has had more games streamed just one the mainstage stream, than the 2 streams on MLG combined..

So yeah, take notes please organizers..

Gratz IPL on a sucessful event, I stayed up to 6 AM for the entire weekend to watch! It was worth it

Well, if it was truly a coinflip there would still be a 25% total chance of getting 3-0 or 0-3, so...

12,5% chance for a 3-0 if it's completely random and each player has an 50% to counter the other's build

Hence 25% for 3-0 or 0-3

nope... 12,5% for one player winning 3-0, it's not counted separately

Yup, so there's 25% chance of either 3-0 or 0-3.

do you really not understand?

there is 50% chance that 1 player will counter the other in 1 match

in 1 match if we flip the coins, there is 25% chance that they'll be both heads, 25% both tails and 50% for heads-tails- that includes both cases you're mentioning.

with the same logic it's 50%*50%*50% in three matches, all possible outcomes included that's 12,5% not 25%

You are completely misunderstanding the other guy's point. He is saying that, if we assume that a ZvZ really is a coinflip, there is 25% chance that one of the two players will be up 3-0 after three games. This is 100% true.

Here is a more concrete example. Suppose that we say that the games between Lucky and Stephano were just coinflips (I know they weren't and Lucky got outplayed, but just assume that for now). Then there is a 12.5% chance that Stephano wins the first 3 games, and a 12.5% chance that Lucky wins the first 3 games. That means there is a 12.5% + 12.5% = 25% chance that one of the two will be up 3-0.

Correct. Think of it like this:

Bo1 has 100% chance of someone winning 1-0
Bo3 has 50% chance of someone winning 2-0
Bo5 has 25% chance of someone winning 3-0

The games are not independent. After losing a game or two a player may just play worse, therefore increasing the chances of a shutout.

This whole thing is about one guy going it's 25% for 3-0 or 0-3, and other people saying it's 12.5% for a 3-0. Both are right, both are calculating different things, both are being too immature to explain their reasoning so people just keep on making stupid posts.

not true

if it's really coinflippy there is an 50% chance that they'll both roll the same, 25% that player 1 out-coinflips the other and 25% that player 2 out-coinflips player 1

that means that it's 25%^3 chance that player 1 will out-coinflip player 2 three times in a row and same chance for player 2 doing the same to player 1, both of them together is 12,5%

the other guys were talking about the chances of a zero to three outcome which is an entirely different subject than 3 won coinflip vs coinflip in a row

I dont get some people on TL.net here....

EVERYONE cries when korean players win all tournaments they attend and now that a foreigner has won with an absolutely top notch performance some people try to downplay it by saying his path was easy. What the hell his path wasnt easy at all. It doesnt matter if there's online matches involved. Who cares? online or offline he was better that his opponents which include many koreans and many top foreign players.

Sick Sick play... and guess what he even plays a different exciting aggressive style.
Ask dimaga

I dont just jump on the hype wagon. I mean i'm excited and all because a foreigner won but anyone who wants to complain that stephano didnt play SICK that tournament is a dick and doesnt know much about sc2. I just hate people who always WANT to see the bad sides of things.

Stephano is turning the world of SC 2 up on its head. Although not the first foreigner to defeat good Koreans and win tournaments (HuK and IdrA have both done this), he is the first foreigner to do so across a wide spectrum of match-ups in a tournament where the Koreans had the numeric advantage in the championship bracket.

Eight players entered the Ro8. Three were foreigners. Four players entered the Ro4. Only one was a foreigner. And that foreigner won.

A momentous occasion in SC 2.

It's not who he beat that was the most impressive part (although still the best foreigner vs Korean run ever), it's how he did it. No Korean training. No team house. It's a complete kick in the stomach to all the foreigners who make excuses about how they can't beat Koreans because of the lack of infrastructure.

Maybe Stephano is just a prodigy.

Or maybe he's just a great player and things happened to click for him in this tournament moreso than it did for others? What is this nonsense about things being turned on their heads?

I'm not saying he's the greatest player ever, but if he is only practicing 3-4 hours a day and he can still turn heads like this, then he must possess an incredible amount of talent akin to a prodigy.
