They however were won by a heavily Korean-trained player so the point that foreigners can compete is moot if they still practice like they do

DRG said in the interview before MLG that he only looking forward to play Koreans in champion bracket since he will win his Pool play no problem. Rain is actually godly if you compare him to foreigners, he only looks gimmicky or inferior when versus code S Koreans. Kinda says something when an entire team (SlayerS) has to change their Terran strategy to beat a single player. Whereas if you asked BoxeR .. "What preparations has your team made to beat the foreigners?" His answer would most likely be "Getting to the airport on time"

I'm sorry but when I talk about SC2 play and nationality it has absolutely nothing to do with their race. Race doesn't mean anything -- practice regimens, playstyles, and servers do. So by that definition, HuK (who has lived/practiced with oGs in Korea for months now) is a Korean in terms of play. Of course he's white, but I didn't mean to imply it's some racial thing because it's obviously not.

DRG: 4 MVP: 11 Boxer: 88 Rain: 39 Ganzi: 54 MMA: 26 Alicia: 13 Choya: 94 Oz: 104 If we add in the players over there still competing: Jinro: 81 Huk: 45 Qxc: 60 (Idra was 20th or so when he left, was still like 35 when it dropped off recently) So, this really isn't even a 2nd tier event. While the "white guys" do definitely need to improve, it's fairly obvious that there isn't a huge gap between the tops of the respective scenes. Though Boxer is definitely out performing what was expected of him. He's playing much better than he has been lately, which is very nice to see. And, is it just me, or is Rain actually playing better than we've ever seen him do? And he should be in the Pool at Raleigh, so we should get to see him again.

I think Rain has always been a great player, but he's just remembered for his cheesy series in the GSL. I still think he has improved a bit, though.

Agreed, it's unfortunate for Rain that a lot of ignorant people will ONLY remember him as a cheeser however this should prove all the haters wrong. He's beaten lots of good players in straight up games.

He's beaten lots of good players in straight up games. I, oddly enough, was one of his defenders during the period after the Ro8 against NesTea. He wasn't bad, but his timings were never very crisp and he really wasn't good in any late game situations. Everything I've caught of him at MLG has been a level above the play from even the EG Master's Cup, which was only a few weeks ago. Also, you guys must have missed his tour through Code A and his time in Code S. He hasn't looked good since the Open seasons. Now, this *might* have something to do with the fact he just finished High School and has had more time to practice. But, given the whole "you have to train in Korea to get better!" issue, he's actually gotten better in the month since he left Korea.

There are several really strong Zergs in Korea right now. SlayerS have probably been working on a new TvZ for a while and found a really strong one. Because they're debuting it now doesn't mean it was made 100% for DRG.

Still. Tod destroyed a lot of people in the open bracket and then the loser's bracket but due to MLG system he'll have a worse rank than Incontrol who performed awfully .... quite sad really
