It exists, its basically Korean Top 200 of the Grandmaster Ladder. Is Jinro in Grandmaster league? Correct me if I'm wrong but players knocked out of Code A are allowed to join the qualifier tournament next season even if they aren't top 200 correct? Jinro has an account called Checkraise, which is in GM. Actually Dimaga played on this account for couple of weeks while he was in Korea, that was right after ladder reset.
Edit: not like this is related to the thread, but whatever.

much respect for jinro to hold onto his position and play as well as he did for as long as he did, but i have to criticize the way he played.
He's been playing like a terran from the first seasons of GSL, and thats just not what you want to be doing this far down the track. Zerg has faced bunker rush harrassment 400 000 times since the initial GSL and well... we're just better at holding it off now.
in Game 2 he looked MUCH more stable going into the midgame, and was closer to his original extremely safe, macro oriented face stomping style... he just started to let it slip when his resources kept climbing and he didnt tech into something more robust.
i dunno about you guys but a zerg getting his 4th base and getting hive is an insanely difficult thing to deal with... especially if he goes for nydus harrassment AND Ultras/ broodlords AND your only on marine tank. personally when he took his third i would of LOVED to have seen a tech switch into Tank/ banshee/ maruder into BC's.
not a huge thing but a gradual transition into a tech thats closer to the level of zenio's.
but i think sometimes you just gotta loose like that before you start to do something different and play better :/

also jinro seems to be on equal terms with teh koreans only in tvt which just means that his run in code a will be if he gets that matchup or just succumbs to his own cheesey bukerrushes again
i mean he openend bunker like everygame and won 1

Dont really think that the best forgieners are out there playing in Korea. I n my opinion Jinro needs to just rest for a while clear his mind, go back home join TLO`s gamers house and from there return strong. Looks like his level of playing is stock while other players just keeps getting better and better.

oh and one more thing: i think us being frequent readers were all sortof biased towards thinking jinros skill lvl rly was top 4 after finishing there twice but rly it clearly is not. i also thought tyler was as good as TL made him out to look. no disrespect im sure he was amazing in bw but his sc2 isnt all that great either

exactly.
what he did to San in Code S with the banshee was brilliant, can you imagine something like that with maruders siege tanks.
just think about it. with your maruders and seige tanks you'd only have to hold positions because of how much more robust it is. and if your a little more careful with a sky army you could do poke/yamoto harrassment.

Well, I guess what's more worrying than Jinro losing this series is the way he lost. These games are so volatile: everyone can make a wrong decision or mis-micro and lose, it doesn't say too much about your skill level. However, Jinro's style of play seemed like it didn't measure up to what Zenio had to offer, he was too passive half the time, and when he attacked he let himself open for counter-attacks. He also sometimes seemed to have a bit bad mechanics.
However, I think that while zerg requires perhaps most multi-tasking over the course of the game, for a terran player it's a lot more difficult to multi-task while also microing. Zerg micro is easier in comparison. Aggressive drop-ship play is always going to be problematic if you don't have the speed/efficiency to save your medivacs while defending against counter-attacks.

I think Jinro just lost all confidence in his first game against coca.
Jinro probably puts a lot of pride into his unique builds, but unfortunately I believe that way of playing right now just gets crushed by superior standard macro play 9/10 times.
I think he would be better off training to play a standard game, working on his mechanics. Had he just trained 2rax all this time I believe he would've stood a much better chance today.
Perhaps Jinro feels like he has to do something spectacular to win due to the fact that his performance of late has been pretty bad. I really hope he gets his confidence back and starts playing like he used to.
Jinro hwaiting!!

Men sux about Jinro, however I'm also super looking forward to Keen in code s!
|
They should send better players to korea to represent the foreigner scene (Naniwa, Thorzain, Kas, Whitera, Dimaga). I also think Jinro should take a break and go back and practice in europe to develop new styles and take inspiration from players like thorzain. His innovation has stagnated.

oh and also his arrogance rly gets me going. trying to ridicule his opponent with those sunglasses a few weeks back and then getting owned. -.-.-.- i mean let mc or neastea do the ridiculing they got teh skill sto back it up

i don't know how this would have been a surpsise to anyone. good thing the better player(s) finally won. both new code s players seem pretty cool

Is it just me or Jinro's macro...slipping? lol usually when i see him play, he gets behind in supply alot of times for no reason.

I definitely think he was, that was right after he won an MLG convincingly and his terran back then was all but cheesy/all-inny, it was just solid terran with good macro/execution. Obviously the game has changed since then and I guess he hasn't kept up, but keep in mind Jinro came out of nowhere being considered pretty mediocre and turned out to be the best foreigner for quite some time. I don't see why that couldn't happen again if he sticks to his practice and hard work..

Im sick and tired of clueless Foreigners who think they know everything about the korean starcraft 2 scene because they watch the GSL. Maybe Keen has roflstomped MC and Nestea on the ladder several times? you dont know anything about whats going on behind the scenes in korea, just because he hasnt won a GSL championship title yet doesnt mean he dont have the right to feel confident. Just because Nestea won GSL 2 doesnt mean he is levitating 10 inches above the ground. There are probably thousands of koreans out there who could beat nestea and MC in a Bo5, they are not superhumans who never lose games, they both probably lose around 40% of their games on the ladder against players of their skill (even flash and jaedong does this)

Jinro arrogant? He's probably the 2nd most humble guy in the sc2 scene, the most humble being white-ra of course. I don't think those sunglasses were a way to ridicule his opponent. Frankly I don't know what they were, but perhaps he just liked them?

I think that it's about time that the TL guys in Korea get a fresh approach to the game. That would be conceding defeat and saying that they can't hang with the best in the world. I don't think they would do this any time soon. But to be fair, they can't.. least not at the moment. The problem is that if they remove themselves from the scene, then they never will and it will only create another BW-like division in skill between the Korean scene and the international scene. Foreigners need to stay in Korea and fight rather than pack it up and leave the moment it feels like they're losing ground. I can understand leaving if it's purely a financial issue (it's expensive to live in a foreign country) or emotional issue where they might have lost their passion for the game, but so long as they're aiming to be the best, they need to be competing against the best.
True, but with SC2 kinda exploding in the US and the EU and more and more Koreans getting to grips with planes, I see no reason why instead all this will do is spread out the super high level Koreans world wide, which in turn will make the GSL more open... that my hope anyways

um..maybe it's time to re-evaluate TL house in Korea? With Jinro falling down to code A, Huk not having much better chance and Haypro... is it worth it to stay there? Just look at what they're sacrificing - TL can't play onilne team leagues seriously because of lag issues, the same goes for individual tournaments. When they're traveling to LANs, they have to pay a fortune for plane tickets to both Europe AND America. I'd like to see those three leave Korea and (or at least Jinro and Haypro) join TLO's gaming house in Sweden. It seems like a logical choice and good opportunity, I think the change of enviroment would help them too. At the moment it just looks like something needs to be changed...
I'd actually like to know Nazgul's opinion. At the start of SC2 most of us expected Korea to be the country of Starcraft as it used to be in SC1. However, things changed and ESPORTS in the rest of world developed lot more than we expected, whereas in Korea it developed far less. Of course, GSL is the hottest league in the world with agruably best players in the world, but that's about it. What you gonna do when you're once out of the league...

Dang :/ Better luck next time Jinro. Hope you get into Code S as quickly as you can.
|
Jinro fell victim to what hyperdub did, he is trying to be safe and not cut corners while zenio cut corners to get stuff and wasn't punished for it.
