What it comes down to is that TB doesn't have any perspective on play outside of bronze league. This is a joke. I am mid plat, now being coached by 2 Dignitas members. I can take the dislike and personal, subjective opinions but there comes a point where misinformation is irresponsible nonsense and should be addressed. I don't really think I need to defend myself on the other points. The numbers speak for themselves. They deliberately chose 2 of the most watched mainstream casters in the world, the #2 and #3 most subscribed and viewed casters on Youtube. It is obvious as to why, to tap into the genuine potential market that exists on their network which other tournament have not been able to touch. It seems to me people would rather nitpick personal casting preferences than take joy in the fact that a gaming network with a large marketing department and plenty of knowledge about it's demographic, picked casters that would appeal to non-players and is going out of it's way to bring new blood into the scene. That is more important than any prizepool, simply because in the longrun, the larger the casual viewerbase is (like real sports), the larger ALL future prizepools can be. Once people understand that the demographic of "knowledgeable diamond-masters non-pro player spectators who want to learn from a cast" is not actually the primary SC2 viewing demographic, we'll have a lot less pointless bickering and a lot more support for the casual viewerbase who make up the lions share of the market anyway. You know, I've talked to a lot of pro-players lately since it turns out more often than not that I am their favourite caster and they also like Tasteless, Husky and other play-by-play guys. You wanna know why? They all said, in different ways "we are pros, we know more than the analysts, the guys who really enjoy analysts aren't pros, they want to be taught, we want to be entertained and have our games hyped by an exciting cast". I found that very interesting.

You have to stop responding to morons who spend their time on here flaming... lol. I know there will be other idiots who will believe what he says, but beyond them... it's pretty obvious the statement is false. Either way, well said.

Just to add another few cents here, just ignore the trolls. THey do it for the lolz, not to communicate any worthwhile information. BTW, the LOLZ are the last form of relief a creature achieves when it can no longer self pleasure itself in a physical manner after it has damaged it's organ through years of constant abuse. If there is any other definition for this near manic behavior of basement dwelling adolescent males, I would love to hear about it.

It's not like we're getting a part of the sum. A year ago everyone was super excited when all those $100 tournaments started to come alive, and now people are finding $5000 a meagre amount of money.

They have to jump through some hoops with Blizzard first before being allowed to go over the 5k.

You wanna know why? They all said, in different ways "we are pros, we know more than the analysts, the guys who really enjoy analysts aren't pros, they want to be taught, we want to be entertained and have our games hyped by an exciting cast". I found that very interesting. Meh, i'll bite. To begin with, you mention that IGN wants to tap into the 2nd and 3rd most subscribers player bases from Youtube with their casters choice, however the large majority of your subscribers are from the WoW background, and in fact you even stated a while back that the majority of your subs come to your channel for WoW and MMO, not SC2. I understand the counter argument to that when saying "Reaching more people, appealing to potentially new fans" etc, but to claim such a thing as stated previously is a tad misleading considering the context. Leading on from that you talk about the pros knowing the analysis, and they just want to listen to someone hyping up the game and making it exciting, thus attempting to validate your position. However, didn't you just say that IGN are wanting to appeal to the larger demographic? (via the statement about potentially tapping in to the 2nd and 3rd youtube channels etc). There's probably a very VERY small percentage of gamers out there that know all the ins and outs of the strategy when it comes to SC2, and as such, events like this are a fantastic way to "educate" that knowledge, with lack of a better word on my part ![]() Ultimately I feel your post was contradicting itself, talking about wanting to appeal to the masses and then validating your spot by saying the pros enjoy listening to a play-by-play caster, when pros make up what? 0.01% of the market? The majority of which i've had the pleasure of speaking to don't even watch other tournaments, just practice their hearts out. I personally am not a fan of your commentary (Sorry, can't appeal to everyone I guess), as the lack of knowledge and insight in to the game isn't interesting to me, even when I know quite a bit about the tactics in turn. To be honest, to say ALL pros would rather listen to play-by-play than analysis is a rather bold claim in itself.
