I'll admit I've seen little to nothing of agh lately. But Axslav and mini are definitely no slouches. I wouldn't be able to (or want to) rank those players, but Axslav is definitely one of the more underrated players at the moment. Plus these decisions were made before cruncher's TSL match most likely, when most people were still complaining about his inclusion in the NASL. Opinions change fast on TL though.

So this is still going to be awesome, props to IGN for supporting SC2 and esports....

BUT I just cant get over the dissapointment that this isn't going to be a team league. When I heard it was called the PROleague I was so excited because of how amazig the GSTL and GCPL have been. The matches, the storylines, it's all been better in the team leagues and I really wish someone would start one.

This is really exciting, things are picking up hugely for western esports.

The only thing I'm apprehensive about is the inclusion of TotalBiscuit. I really do not enjoy seeing him commentate games. His style and general knowledge just make me cringe.

Here's hoping for Day 9 or JP for season 2.

While I whole heartily agree with your take on TotalBiscuit, I think if there is one thing the TSL has really opened my eyes to its that Chill is a very good commentator. I really enjoyed his chemistry with Day and Wheat.

Agreed. Unfortunately the casters listed are all merely mediocre.

why is there so much hate for tasteless? anyone who casts with artosis or day9 is going to look like "just another shoutcaster"... I hope you guys aren't forgetting that tasteless was still a progamer back in the brood war days... He still knows his stuff and could probably beat many of you guys who are putting him down

sure his knowledge is outclassed by artosis, but when he was with kelly he showed his starcraft gaming sense. even more, when Artosis was practically falling off of his chair because of his tooth problem, Tasteless took the helm and began to show us why he is an established commentator in Korea. I don't think its fair for you guys to be putting him down so much, he is still a great commentator!

I will start off with a con, you guys have a couple of casters who are all great or decent, but you don't have any sort of knowledgeable caster, or a heavy analytical caster.

Having said this, I am loving the player list and how the tournament is run. You guys sound really professional and I am excited to see some great games. You will have my support from the get go. Wish IGN the best of luck and I hope it can spiral out of control into something great for eSports.

great to see another big tournament. Some choices for casters/players are a bit underwhelming though.

I am super excited for this and all the events in NA coming! Great time for esports, i can feel it. I also like how IGN seems to be selling this to us, they aren't just throwing it in our faces and saying its happening, they are explaining the ins and outs and really working for our stamp of approval! eSports Fighting!

daayyyyummmm. Before and after I discovered TL, IGN was my go-to site for my gaming-related interests. It's definitely one of the biggest gaming sites in the USA and with exposure like this...:O

If this really becomes successful and grows and grows I really think we can see some Korea-esque progaming scene in USA. so pumped and will definitely be tuning in.

EDIT: I think people are being too harsh on the casters. Every caster has their flaws from Tastosis to Kelly to HD. What we should be doing is not bashing on the casters before they even come out and cast this tournament for us. If the casters do not provide the level of commentary needed for a tournament of this level, I'm sure that we can, as a community, provide criticism and help them to learn and become better casters. Bashing them before this tournament even starts does nothing but to hurt the viewership and eSports.

yeah no point in complete "bashing." but we have a body of work on these guys. if they actually learn more stuff before the tournament, then that's great! but it's not like they're unknown dudes, and we know what they will generally be like.

and i love tasteless, he just hasn't seemed on top of his game lately.

Can you explain why you chose to only invite players currently living in America?

We choose to do that because of how significantly simpler it is for us to get this event up and running with NA players (in terms of travel, scheduling, lag issues, communication, etc), and since we're based in NA, we are supporting NA eSports to begin with.

Travel?...wait are the games being played in a studio? Is this tournament not strictly online? Is that how the contestants were chosen? By living in a similar area?

Now I am confused, are the players all going to be in the same area when the games are played? Does this mean it will actually be live?

I'm sorry for the confusion, by travel I meant we flew in about half of the players for interviews two weeks ago and I used them as a sounding board for the format of the event. We will be releasing the interviews as our production studio finishes work on them!

Unfortunately with a pool of 16 players, there are so many great players that get left out. Keep in mind the player selection was done months ago, this is not something that has popped out overnight.

Are there any plans for LAN events with a live audience, like for the finals?

(EDIT: By LAN I mean as LAN as you can get... I'd still call GSL and MLG LAN events, despite being played "over bnet")

I really do like the choices of casters, though I am sure people will be complaining about some of them one way or another. HD and Painuser can be great together, and I personally do enjoy TB's unique style of casting quite a lot (and everyone likes djWheat, though is he casting alone? He seems to be the best caster to match up with any other caster).

As for the tournament... this looks amazing. I read through the main posts on the tournament, but I couldn't tell if the vods will be free or not.. if they are then that will be huge for them.

While they are saying they aren't stepping on the toes of NASL, I really think it will be hard for both to survive. I don't think MLG has to worry as much as they don't take up too much time... but when it comes down to participating in 2 separate leagues, with all the games being casted... I just don't know.

It seems like the NASL may have too many games for all of them to be watched, and the numbers just won't be there for the amount of games they have... I really don't know though.

Anyway, to keep it more on topic... I am really excited for this league. It seems like they are approaching this very intelligently and cautiously that I don't see it failing very easily. They seem interested in really growing the scene, and then worrying about making some serious profit off of it, which is good for us and good for them IMO.

Edit: As for the people commenting on the fact that it's not a team league... while I did expect it to be a solo league, I do have to agree that a team league would be amazing. Maybe they will be able to throw in team leagues here and there.

Sounds really good. I dont mind the replay thing as from what has happened with TSL etc, it seems that info doesnt leak which is good and it means no frustrating problems.

Plus many people like me cant watch live events anyway so this method will bring about high quality vods
